Honestly I hope sega sees this and realizes how many people honestly want a new jsr game, still blown capcom hasn’t made a new Dino crisis..

Brace yourself, I have some bad news... Aparently, Sega has plans not only for Jet Set Radio but also Crazy Taxi and other forgotten IPs. However, it seems they're going the live service route with microtransactions, which immediately raises a red flag as "cheap nostalgic cash grab".

Just because a game gets delayed doesn't mean they always have the time to add in new major features. High chance for a delay is because something the dev team has already been working on is behind schedule. That time and resources they have to use can't be freely used for added content unless it's something small and not an entire massive framework like multiplayer. That in itself takes consideration: What objectives will the players be able to accomplish? Will there be multiple game modes? What about the asset team and the new things they have to work on specifically for multiplayer? How will online be handled? How many active players can the game handle? And, that's just for planning. Let's not forget the amount of testing and balancing for a game that initially had single-player in mind. That eats away and more time and would have to have an even further release date. This game is a spiritual successor to JSR so its root gameplay are gonna be deep-seeded in the single-player experience first and foremost.

Hands down a great answer. After reading your take on multiplayer I have to say you are right. Multiplayer wouldn't really make sense with a game like this unless there was some sort of sandbox mode like in Tony Hawk Underground or something along those lines. That being said, thanks for the in-depth comment! Definitely changed my perspective👌

reminder: we're in 2023, we live in the era of games being able to get a lot of new content post release via updates, multiplayer is not impossible

I’d rather a game prioritize a great single player experience than dish out a multiplayer microtransaction loot box of a game. Multiplayer when done right is cool, but I’m today’s industry not so much. Though a multiplayer mode for this game would be pretty cool honestly.

At the moment it is single player only. There has been no mention of multiplayer and the stream page says single player only.
