Example: would you have your child at a daycare with a room accessed by anyone off the street who can watch the kids playing through a 2 way mirror? The people watching have complete privacy and are not allowed to interact with your children, so does that make it ok?

It’s like she’s putting the responsibility on RU-vid to protect her kids instead of herself.

I was nervous to watch a video criticizing a family that I enjoy watching, but I'm so glad that I did. I'm currently going down the rabbit hole of Josh's videos. This content has opened my eyes to what is really going on and I love it. I'm so grateful that this exists.

Glad I found this channel because I was going to start a family channel, I never thought about half this stuff! Totally made me rethink it!

Okay so I (my husband’s wife) watch all those videos and I see how I’m playing into those analytics. I usually watch on his profile because he has premium and my own doesn’t. Anyway, I say all that to say that I found your channel talking about Milena Ciciotti and I thought to myself “eeew this man is weird for making fun of a young woman” but the more I’ve actually watched your videos, and now seeing THIS, I get it. I understand and I’m so glad that you do what you do! This is exactly why I try to minimize my children’s presence on social media. The world is disgusting.

Something you said in the video where you read the Reddit post remembered me about a topic I learned while getting my associates degree in Social behavior. Since these kids are being forced to raise themselves because their parents are always doing RU-vid they are experiencing a form of parentification. There’s two forms of parentification one being emotional where kids have to fill emotional roles for their parents and then there’s physical parentification where kids are expected to fill the physical roles that a parent might fill this might be getting a job at a young age, taking care of siblings ect. The kids of vloggers are forced into both forms of parentification and I’ve seen examples of each when I watch your videos reacting to vlogs. I’ve also seen examples of poor or toxic attachments styles that these kids are forming because of their parents. I’d love to give you more information about both parentification and children’s attachment and been able to interpret from vlogs. I’m not a psychologist but I do I have a degree in social/behavioral sciences as well as 5 years experience working with children.

I have no kids, I've never been a parent, and I am more protective of children than these mommy vloggers are! I believe in free speech and letting creators control whatever content they want to put out there... Except with children. RU-vid should be even stricter to protect children who cannot understand the complexity of this issue.

As a very, very small RU-vidr (less than 500 subs) who makes crafty videos, I completely agree with you. There is no place for children to be consumed in a public forum. I have bad feelings when watching a scrapbook video creator using photos of children to create a layout, because it feels like the child has become a product. We need to be responsible for turning our children into products. Keep up the good work!

As a rape victim who instantly got a rape kit and was drug through a 3 year court process and ultimately my case dropped because of police misconduct I will also say there is no justice for victims and no punishment for these pos predators.

I have been seeing red over the stuff I’ve researched about child privacy and labor rights when it comes kids on RU-vid. Side note: you should look more into her Miranda Sings content, she has a pretty hefty history of making a mockery of incest/molestation of a child-like character.

The family vloggers who rely mostly on their children for the majority of their content-and not themselves, are the real problems. The Sacconejoly’s always have their comments turned on btw, as does the Ingham family.

my daughter, who is 11, had a youtube channel that had 25 subscribers and her videos averaged about 30 views. EXCEPT FOR ONE VIDEO!! It was entitled “trying on dresses” and it had 3.9k views! I was horrified to say the least cause I realized pedophiles had been watching my child. Needless to say, she no longer has a youtube channel. So I am behind you 100%. Kids need to be off youtube.

Colleen is so deluded that she doesn't realize those changes were to incentivize vloggers to avoid certain content with their kids, which is the source of the problem. She has a long history of playing the victim to avoid responsibility.

Please please please do a deep dive into Colleen - she is an incredibly problematic person and this has only scraped the tip of the iceberg. - She promotes a seriously unhealthy body image to her young fans, as well as disordered eating. - She establishes inappropriate relationships with her young fans (as has been mentioned, she sent one of them underwear when he was only 13; she chats with them behind the scenes in private messages, calls them her best friends, etc) - Her “satirical” character, Miranda Sings, is INCREDIBLY problematic; she has a very inappropriate relationship with her fictional uncle that normalises predatory behaviour and could put her young fans at risk of grooming; her live shows are highly sexualised, again normalising such behaviour. - She uses her child for views, all of her content including her son looks incredibly staged. She’s also just not an amazing mother (she’s constantly pawning him off to other people - her husband, her assistant/best friend, her mum, her sister) but uses her videos to portray the image that she is. All of this after she claimed whilst pregnant she wouldn’t really feature him to protect his privacy. - There is speculation that she sent her fans after her ex husband by spreading rumours about him in private messages. Even if this is not true (or just can’t be proved), she has never publicly come out and asked her fans to stop sending her ex death threats and telling him to kill himself (he has struggled with addiction and mental health in the years since the divorce). Instead she pretends like he never existed. - She promotes therapy in one breath but then doesn’t take any of the advice her therapist gives her and continuously switches and changes between them (she is on her second or third therapist from the beginning of the pandemic alone), giving her young fans the impression that if a therapist questions you they’re not good at their job and you should find a new one. - She has been seeing people outside her household during a global pandemic whilst saying on camera that they’re being very safe and not seeing anyone. Her family is constantly at her house with no masks, her assistant/best friend is always over (he used to live there but it appears as if he’s now moved out), she’s seen friends. And these are just some of the ways she’s problematic that I can think of off the top of my head!

I've never really watched family vlogs but your channel, and slo4n, have opened my eyes to the dark side of what these people put out there. Keep doing what you are doing because it's waking people up to what's going on.

After watching your videos, I took down all videos with my kiddos on my channel and my social media. 🤷🏼‍♀️ not that I’m anything special, but... definitely have had my eyes opened through this channel.

This was so eye opening and terrifying. I've always hated family vlog channels and knew they were dangerous, but never thought about people making playlists. And I'm SHOCKED and disgusted that some of these people have Instagram accounts for their children.

She is exposing her own kids to these people to ANY people... SHE is the one doing it. 🙄🤯

The sacconejolys admitted in a documentary that they know those men are watching but say they don’t create videos of them in the bath etc. Yet they continued to post videos of their kids in the bath, their highest viewed video is of swimming and they create TikToks of their daughter clearly aimed for those men

Thank you for speaking up on this. Ethically I’m against putting children online for so many reasons. But I feel like we’re the minority because people think it’s harmless happy videos of cute kids. But underneath the surface, it’s ethically a mess. I myself like watching the funny cute videos, but recently I’ve made a conscious effort to block all content suggested to me with children.

I felt like I was watching myself at 14 throwing my parents through loop holes of why I shouldn’t be grounded. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD LADY 😂😂😂

Look at the statistics on the trafficking rings and the correlation on how many children are targeted through the internet. Either by becoming friends with them or targeting them through social media platforms. ITS SHOCKING. Protect your kids and make sure you monitor them. The internet is a dangerous place for kids. Promoting them just puts the target right on them.

So messed up and makes me sick to my stomach. People call me a prude or “too modest” for not letting my boys be shirtless at the pool or my daughter do gymnastics or dance in tiny outfits. What’s stopping people from recording your kids on their smart phones at the pool or at school functions?

What I dont get is that a lot of the family vloggers day they did it " for the memories " so they and their kids can go back years from now and watch these videos. They can still do that with out comments or ads. The only difference is that they don't get paid and a they say they don't do it for the money.

Sooooo the Ingham family have spent the whole summer in Europe filming their three girls in swimwear every single day . They out their 15 year old daughter in the thumbnail daily and title many vlogs with the word “teen” . One vlog also used the word “cream pie “ They have not turned their comments off . Google the name Chris Ingham the father of the family . He was accused by teen subscribers of contacting them behind his wife’s back . It’s horrendous .
