When I was in university, I worked for a company that catered live events around London. Basically, I stood at the back of the standing section selling pints at extortionate prices, but... you'll never guess who was playing on my first shift. According to my boss it was "some band called bon ivor or something like that". Safe to say, I didn't sell much beer and spent the entire time with my jaw on the floor. Top 10 life experiences.
the thing i love about seeing bon iver live is how the audience respects the quiet moments. we all just absorb the incredible talent of this band and it makes the performances so much more emotional when he pauses and you are surrounded by thousands of silent people.
Maybe it’s just me, but once I heard this song it never left me. Lyrically, there’s nothing quite like it. The imagery is so vague and interpretive, props to Vernon for penning and performing such a beautiful piece.
In college I listened to this song over 2,000 times. This isn't a brag. I don't know what it is. I just know it helped me get over some difficult stuff at the time. I guess I had a lot to get over.
