I am Ukrainian but I was born in raised in the Soviet Union (Ukraine used to be a part of it those days) and my very first encounter with Bon Jovi happened in 1989. I had never heard about them until then - you know KGB, evil empire, iron curtain and what have you - but in 1989 so called "Moscow Peace Festival" happened with several big artists participating, so the Soviet TV started showing some music videos of those bands. I still remember as if it was yesterday when I saw "You Give Love a Bad Name" for the very first time - it was a blow on the head so to speak, one of those rare blows which make life worth living. Later the "New Jersey" album was released on vinyl in the USSR, and I was listening to it every day. Good to see "Bounce" to be ranked so high - what a magnificent album it is!
My ranking (without the solo albums, compilations and box sets) 1. These Days 2. New Jersey 3. Keep the Faith 4. Slippery When Wet 5. Bounce 6. Lost Highway 7. Crush 8. Fahrenheit 9. What About Now 10. Forever 11. Burning Bridges 12. Bon Jovi 13. Have a Nice Day 14. This House is Not For Sale 15. The Circle 16. 2020
@@themindseyecmh it was the first time i didnt enjoy the album from start to finish. (I just pretend this left feels right doesnt exist) From Bon Jovi to Bounce, I can listen to the whole albums without skipping. Even songs that I don't particularly like I can still tolerate. HAND just sounded different. I heard people talk about how Shanks tend to overproduce so maybe thats it. There are really only 2 songs that I like from that album, Have a Nice Day and Who Says We Can't Go Home.
I'm with you on that one - a very good album, from start to finish. Frankly speaking I am not a big fan of the movie, particularly of Jon's acting, but the album has grown on me.
Bro didn’t even MENTION Santa Fe or I’ll Be There For You, two of the all time greats. 100% agree regarding Without Love too. Always felt that way about it, and thought the same thing about Hearts Breaking Even and I Want You too. Top 10: These Days Keep The Faith Slippery When Wet Blaze Of Glory New Jersey Lost Highway This House Is Not For Sale Bounce Crush 2020
Those are great songs though I'm a little burnt out on I'll Be There For You. I can agree with you on Hearts Breaking Even, I Want You has some great moments too
You praised/highlighted almost every song on the Slippery When Wet album and even mentioned a track that could have been a hit single if it was released (Without Love)...yet it was rated outside your top 3 and below Lost Highway!
I'm a Bon Jovi fan from the olden days, got into them as a teen in 1985 so my ranking of the original studio albums will reflect that... well, for one I haven't even regularly listened to the last four records so only going to include the ones I am familiar/somewhat familiar with: Have A Nice Day (only the title track does something for me) The Circle (a few pretty good songs) Lost Highway (a couple of songs I really like, for example You Wanna Make a Memory and Whole Lotta Leaving) Crush (several great songs and I love Two Storey Town!) Bounce (this has really grown on me over the years, it's mostly enjoyable from start to finish with a couple of duds. The production should be better!) self-titled (a great debut album, still love tracks like Roulette, Shot Through the Heart, Love Lies and Burning for Love - oh yeah, and Runaway was the first song I ever heard from the band in November 1985. It came on the radio.) 'Fahrenheit' (my first Bon Jovi record on February 6, 1986. Listened to the A Side at the record store and on the strength of songs like Only Lonely and Price of Love purchased the cassette a couple of days later. Had already heard The Hardest Part Is the Night earlier...) Keep The Faith (my die-hard fandom had, well, died after 1990 when they almost broke up and there seemed to be a rift in the band but a decade later I rekindled my love for the band thanks to the internet and it was only then that I got this record. A really strong A Side, the B Side is a bit iffy but still, a classic. Dry County!!) 'Slippery' (The planets aligned in our household; the record came out and a short month or so later we got cable channels, with lots of music videos and music related shows on inter-European channels like Sky Channel and Music Box. So I became a die-hard Jovi-girl thanks to seeing the videos for 'Bad Name' and 'Prayer' 😁 SWW is a record full of nostalgia for me, it always brings me back to the fall and winter of 1986 when the band suddenly became huuuuge. And I even like Social Disease!) New Jersey (come on, it's the other of the true classics, a magnificent feat to follow a monster like SWW with something EVEN better! A bit like Pink Floyd releasing Wish You Were Here after Dark Side Of The Moon... Everything feels more substantial on NJ and it's just killer from start to finish, an epic journey into the heart of this band....) These Days (the only record that can stand side-by-side with 'Jersey' as the other classic album, and it being so different is a great thing. The title track is possibly my favorite song by the band, along with Dry County and Born to Be My Baby. Hard Letting You Go is a gorgeous deep cut!) I also love Blaze Of Glory and Stranger In This Town, less so the follow-up solo records... Thanks for making a BJ ranking video, it was fun to watch!
Dude, you are so right, these days Should have been a double album. The outtakes from These Days are amazing. Infact you should rate the outtakes from These Days.
Yeah for all of the album ratings you should always include the bonus/ out-take songs. For instance one of my favorite songs off have a nice day is “Dirty little secrets” and off crush it’s “Neurotica” another killer song that should never have been left off crush.
@bill-hc4vh into the echo might be my favorite song on What About Now... but yeah almost every album has an outtake or bonus track that should have been included
@@themindseyecmh How Come guns N Roses were able to put out a double album, yet Bon Jovi couldn't? Bon Jovi clearly had a lot of strong material that didn't make the album "These Days" (These were not considered filler tracks, but songs that could have actually been hits.) I think John was a "yes man" meaning he always listened to record execs and record labels. He might have asked and the record company said no, so he didn't push it any further. In reality he should have fought back. Do you think Geffen Records wanted GNR to put a double album out in 1991? HECK NO! Guns n roses had to fight to get that double album out.
The power station years shouldn’t really count as an album. What about now should be at the very bottom and how did the debut end up at 19??? That was an excellent record.
Yeah Sambora isn't found of that record either ,probably why he left shortly after ,John shanks way too much input and Richie hated that ,what's left of me is one of the better songs on that record
Richie was an integral part of Bon Jovi for 30 years, Bon Jovi wouldn't be the band they are without him. That being said, Bon Jovi is still great without Richie. THINFS and Forever are great albums imo
