Jeff & Sarah will show you some of the precise filming locations at the Iverson Movie Ranch in Chatsworth, Calif., where scenes were shot for Bonanza, Gunsmoke, the Lone Ranger and a number classic Hollywood films. Sarah will stand on the same ledge where "The Grapes of Wrath" was filmed and Jeff will play Ronald Reagan in a scene from "Tennessee's Partner."

Always enjoy your content, but this one literally "hit home." I grew up in Chatsworth, and as a child, played in and around all of these rocks. I remember the filming, and the modifications the film crews would make, i.e. adding paper mache to the rocks to create a cave or tunnel. A little north and east was where they filmed "My Friend Flika" and "Fury" (the horse series) Hogan's heroes prison camp was constructed nearby as well. Little House on The Prairie was shot just west in Simi Valley. I used to rent horses from Mr. Spahn and had a run in with the Manson gang! Corriganville was a favorite place to visit. Great work Jeff and Sarah. The editing, overlays, and clips were amazing. Thank you for all of your hard work and research!

Also a lady posing a top a rock, caves, ravines and so much more. Kudos to you both! Thanks for sharing👍😊

That sounds just peachy if you can spend a few million to desecrate such a place that has so much history for the privilege of looking at rocks that they haven't a clue about. What's left needs to be made a state park with signs that explain what we learned in this video and more. Nowadays it wouldn't be too hard for a wiz kid to make a ph app that shares clips like these that puts anyone in that film when they stand on the mark. Chattsworth failed big time on this one, who did the developers have to grease to build condos right there when there are places a mile or two away that are just as nice but not so famous and historical. I'll bet a dollar to a dime that the SOBs used the "live on a famous movie location" as part of the sales pitch. I'm a 62 yr old that is mellow and carefree but this really rubs me raw, many yrs ago I lived in the valley and also in Simi, I was young and rode past this on an M/C W/O a clue fills me with some kind of unfulfilled passion and regret that I didn't comprehend in those days of my youth. The local politicians and the developers that did this for a buck have a special place in hell, where the stagecoach runs them down every day and even the Joads tell them to kick rocks. I hope that they will be stuck in perilous cowboy situations day and night and every time one of our classic movie heroes rides to the rescue they just rear up the horse and shout "see ya at the condo b***h". This is almost as bad as letting billionaire pimps and movie stars build condos all around the HOLLYWOOD sign in the future as another status symbol that can be bought. This simple video opened my eyes to the history of this place, I live in Wisconsin now but if I was there I would agitate those condo snobs "in a legal way" to the best of my ability. These same condo punks would also take over "Train Town" in Griffith Park or "Oliveria Steet" DT for a cheap buck... Sorry for the rant but these condos are so unacceptable where they were built, if I was 40 yrs younger I'd do something like hold up signs and make a scene and get on the 3 networks Of course, I'd never even think of this but what if someone tossed a few Jax-style pointy things on the road accidentally and caused $300 tires to spring a leak... Don't 86 me for being too honest YT...

This was so so cool. Thanks, Jeff and Sarah, for interweaving all of those tidbits from the past into the video. There's a lot of movie history there... but, you can't stop progress, condos. I wonder if Westerns will ever come back.🤠📽🎬💰🐎

So sad to see the intrsion of the condos. I can remember the area before the freeway or any houses. The Santa Susana Pass was the main road. There. were quite a few movie ranches. I grew up in Chatsworth and along with my family and friends spent many hours happily climbing the rocks and hills at Stony Point or Chatsworth Park North or South. Almost every weekend the highlight was running around like a mountain goat with my Dad and brother. My father would take us hiking to get out of our Moms way while she cleaned the house. When she joined us, we would have a picnic down in the park after we tired ourselves out. We hiked the Stagecoach Trail and put pennies on the railroad track near the tunnel. Only later did I learn that Charles Manson and his gang ran around those very hills and that old movie Westerns were filmed in the same area. I camped there as a Girl Scout, partied there as a teen, had my senior and engagement photos taken there as well. I attended Church at Rocky Peak on Santa Susanna Pass from college and as a young wife and mother. So many great memories! This specific area is an integral part of of my personal history. Whenever I see those peaks and rocks in the early Westerns I immediately think of home. Thank you for highlighting the area. It was a great place to grow up near and to explore!

Jeff, thank you so much for another interesting video. I met Pernell Roberts in 2006 when I was living in Dearborn, Michigan. I was visiting at the Henry Ford Estate because I used to work there and I ran into mr. Roberts at the house looking at the dining room. He was a very very nice man and when I told him about my mother suffering from cancer I did not know that he had had cancer. So he asked for my address and he came to my house to visit my mother. Then he backed out because he was worried that my mother just being home for a day or two might not be able to handle him visiting. Needless to say my mom was disappointed, but he was just that kind of man. I told him that you w e r e like Adam Cartwright and that no one was that good of an actor of that he was playing I believe himself. He was a very nice man and I have very fond memories of him.

Me too. In the 1940s our family had permission from Mr Iverson to ride our horses into the ranch. Well schooled in movie set manners, we kids were welcomed on the sets of various movie and TV shows. In particular, we were regulars visiting the Lone Ranger and Cisco Kid sets. Duncan Renaldo (Cisco), Leo Carrillo (Pancho), Clayton Moore (Lone Ranger) and Jay Silverheels (Tonto) enjoyed hanging out with us. We even occasionally exchanged Christmas cards. My brother Carl was around 10-12. A trick riding trainer named Lew took Carl under his wing and allowed him to wrangle horses and even drive a stagecoach.

Wow! This was a really great job Jeff! I learned so much about so many famous older actors that I never knew much about before. And this was my first time seeing Burgess Meredith in another character form other than “Mick” from the “Rocky” movies. You also talked about Tom Minx and the only thing I remembered about him was that he attended Wyatt Earp’s funeral and cried. I didn’t know he died from a freak accident by getting hit in the head by his suitcase when he hit his brakes? That’s crazy! You really did a great job sharing a lot of really cool knowledge and history about these actors and events that took place in such a secluded, little area. It should definitely be preserved as a historical location with so much history. I really appreciate the way you do the inlays with the original movie clip and current location. You really get a good perspective of what it looked like then and now. Keep up the great work guy’s! And tell Sarah I have crazy respect for her climbing all those huge rock formations! The bathtub rock is pretty amazing, to think Buster Keaton sat in that very spot 100 years ago, thanks for posting 👍

Another must visit when these kiddos leave the nest. Or maybe we will drag them with us on our next time to LA. It took me back to watching re-runs in the 80/90’s which connected me to my dads childhood. Have a great week all.

Brilliant......thanks Jeff and Sarah!!. We got all these iconic shows in the UK in the 50's and 60's. I loved all of them. Just an idea guys......how about showing us the where they filmed '' The Big Country''. Would love to see that ''Blanco Canyon''. That scene where the Colonel tells his men to ''mount up''.....and they ignore him. Then he rides off into the Canyon.......and they all follow him. Magnificent film work.!!!!!.

We use to hike back up in there in the 70s when we were kids. Aqua Dulce, which is not too far from there, was a popular filming location ad well. Love ur vids.

extremely interesting. You guys did a wonderful job. In the late 50's my folks took us to see the "Lone Ranger Ranch". That's what we knew it called then. The "town" was there then and they performed stunts for the crowd. Did a quick draw with an audience member etc. As a kid (9 years old) it was very exciting, especially that I watched the show regularly.

That was terrific Jeff. This is the first episode I've been able to watch since the one you did on your Mum, that really broke my heart. From Down Under.
