Bondsman: 'Total failure' of deputies, judge after child Snapchat's her own sex assault 

To me, if someone is charged with sexual assault of an 11 year they should not be released on any bond ever.

Bless that sweet woman for stepping up to give that child a safe place to stay.

Her mother is a disgrace. I cannot believe how blindsided she was. He should rot in jail.

That mom is a horrible mom to tell someone to delete the photos and forget about it. I hope someone is protecting that child and making sure she is safe.

I spent 33 years in law enforcement. That sheriff is an embarrassment to a profession I gave my blood sweat and tears to. This infuriated me. Thank you Jody and to that bondsman. He was on your videos before. He needs to run for sheriff. Clean house and hire real professionals.

Our legal system is failing more and more. I wouldn't hold it against victims if they decide they need to get real justice any way they can.

thank god that girl was able to ask her friend for help and her friend to take it seriously and get help headed her way. the police really messed this up

With a sheriff that bad, the little girl, her friend, and the guardian are all lucky that they didn't get arrested for making and distributing dirty pictures of little kids. It's disgusting that it takes a public airing of your incompetence to bring any shame to your rotted arm of the "just-us" system, sheriff.

That bond guy and that friends mother/caretaker definitely needs to watch their backs because they told the truth about the Sheriffs department. There could be some type of retaliation from a deputy who took in part of this.

There was a child molester in my town that went to trial only for there to be a mistrial on a Thursday. He was found late the following Sunday night in his barn, he got ground up in a fed silo. Looks like the auger grabbed his jacket and pulled him into it. No more trial no more child molester .

No matter how much he tries to deny, this boss cannot cover the fact that: once a person is imprisoned, he is checked to see if he has a criminal record, if he has committed such attacks before, if he is an American citizen. Instead, this situation brought to light the ignorance of the police, the lack of application of the procedure, practically they did not even check if he is on the list of sexual aggressors! What else are they paid for?

Glad this child is safe now and that the broken system is being looked at and hopefully fixed. Glad the bondsman and neighbor stood up for this child and followed up.

Hope the mother does the full 10 years! Disgraceful!

This bondsman is a HERO. He is the first to tell us that the finger pointing between judges and arresting officers/entity is an illusion. BOTH are responsible and it is time we hold them accountable. Many people working within our legal system are in need of a reminder of what Justice actually means and how it applies. Those who remember will want to help, naturally. These people work for US, the people. We have given them, as such, great power over our lives...and great trust to get it right. Law Enforcement/Justice isn't just a career. It is a calling. We simply cannot allow people we vote for to hold such life changing power over SO MANY other people without any fear of repercussions should they choose to be corrupt or just lazy in their duties. THAT is OUR duty, our responsibility. We define for ourselves, as a nation, what Justice is and how the Law can work with Justice for an outcome that benefits all as much as possible. You do not have to be a lawyer to be heard-if you can listen, you can DO something-it IS that EASY. Just go to a courtroom. Sit down-soak it in and get started. Ask questions. You can do this! You don't have to just watch videos and be frustrated-that frustration we feel when we type these responses, it is a real energy. We can do something with that. Really do something! If you find that this is a cause that interests you, then go to your local courthouse and start asking questions...ask what court rooms you may step into just to observe. Ask what documents you have access to right there. You have access to almost everything. These are OUR courthouses. This guy here can bond out for 3%. 600$. Due to lack of investigation and lack of actual concern. This is the SAME garbage attitude that allows for such a high rate of innocent people being accused/arrested, resulting in their lives complete destruction. Many with bonds that are INSANELY high. This is NOT an "unusual" case-but don't take my word for it. Or anyone else's-go see for yourself {it's free!} and experience it in first person. As first hand as you can get without actual arrest, etc. You can always leave if you aren't feeling it. If you do go-don't wear any metal hair clips or chopsticks in your hair. Trust me.

The system is all about money not justice.

The most IMPORTANT take away from this event is that NO ONE who is a part of the local government will be held accountable…!!!! They are IMMUNE thanks to “QUALIFIED IMMUNITY” Thankfully that part time bondsman was vigilant in making sure the FAILURES he discovered were addressed. It’s a damn good thing he was a government official because he and his concerns would have been told to piss off.

Bravo Jody!!! This case was handled with such indifference. The bail bondsman stopped the molester from fleeing the country. The mother is a real monster. Your reputation is evidently precedes you in that part of the country. Kinda like Chris Hanson and Mike Wallace all in one.

They don’t care about the kids. They just do the minimum to arrest and move on . Sickening! Is there a bigger story there ? Look into other assault charges, this could open a can of worms in that department.

This tells me that I was woefully uninformed about my own child’s abusers bond hearing. I never got a chance to go give a victim statement.

I’m a survivor of CSA by my father. I know I didn’t have the courage to speak up when I was 11. This young lady is beyond brave. And shame on the “mother” for not protecting ring her and wanting to sweep it under the rug. My mother also couldn’t handle the truth at first. Then when she saw the detectives cut my room up collecting evidence, she realized I was in fact telling the truth. But the damage was done. The strong bond and yearning for my mom had been cut short when she didn’t stand by me at first. I really hope this young lady gets help while she young. I’m so so proud of her for speaking up. She likely saved other children from the same fate

Sounds to me like this department has become too complacent in not just their job but their responsibility to insure the safety of the community. There needs to be a change from the Sheriff down! You can't just go through the motion, but you have to care and follow-up!😡

This bondsman is an awesome guy. He obviously is a loving father this is absolutely disgusting. If this man did not look into this, this predator would be on the streets.

How sad that this victim had to do this to be believed. How BRAVE of the friend and her mom to step up when needed. How infuriating that the mom tried to brush it under the rug. Friend’s mom is a SAINT. I’m so glad this little girl is someone where she is safe and loved.

Great video and good questions. If this had been one of their children they would have lost their minds and had press conferences for weeks about how they have worked tirelessly to bring justice. Not this time though, we have to hear this from an investigative journalist.

I'm 41 years old now! I was sexually assaulted when I was 9 by my own 16 year old cousin. All he got at the time was probation for a few years because he was a minor. He is now 48, and as never done any time or ever had to register as a sex offender in his life. This was way back in 1992 when this happened. You would think by now law enforcement would be more inclined to help young kids not set them up for continue abuse. I pray for that young 11 year old, and hope she can move on with her life. But I know how much that kind abuse really mess's with you mind even at that age. FYI: the mother should go to prison for life for not protecting her own daughter, that is not mother that a predator!!

The act of someone showing up for each and every bond hearing would be impossible. With that being said, this department has slowly over time become complacent to oversight on exactly when someone should MAKE time to be at the hearing. Eventually over time, it became normal. I will have to give the Sheriff credit! He OWNED the problem and did not try to shift blame or deny there is a problem. Now we will have to see what he does to correct it!! Great work once again Mr. Barr!!

The sheriffs office didn’t do their job, what a shame! Sexual assault of a child wasn’t serious enough for them to be at the bond hearing?Thank God for this gentleman got involved and shared all of this information with the news. The mother should be in jail also.

This is exactly what citizens have come to expect from government.

That mother cared more about having someone to help pay bills, than for the welfare and safety of her child! For her to say she didn't believe the accusations, when she saw photos of what he was doing, is worse than deplorable! She needs to be deported with that sex offender!
