How DARE that Sheriff say that your reporting is putting justice at risk, and how dare that investigator accuse you of having some agenda to "erode trust in the Sheriff." They manage to do both of those things on their own, they don't need your help to fail to administer justice because of their obvious incompetence. Absolutely disgusting behavior from them all around.

All these cops should be fired and prosecuted

The sheriff and his investigators and other deputies needs to be fired immediately and arrested immediately for criminal wrongdoing and lying on official records and unbecoming officers and civil and criminal rights violations under the color of law

All public servants should be required to be individually bonded and insured, then the actuaries would weed out the bad ones based on risk.

Sheriff’s Dept.s work the hardest at doing nothing about anything, protecting their own, and persecuting anyone that that they feel is against them. This lady is incredibly brave, and thank goodness for Jody Barr.

I am amazed that Jody is able to continue to do these pieces and has not been harassed or intimidated into silence. This is real journalism- something that is all but a lost art in this country and in this state . I do find it interesting that he is doing this from a Charlotte news station which may be part of the reason they will even publish the pieces . Bravo to Jody , Bravo to Queen City news . Mr. Barr always does his reporting with honesty, openness and transparency . There is no other reporter i know that has come even close to the standard he has set. Our sons killers were not even charged as the woman involved worked as a dancer in the club that was owner by the investigating officer wife, she used to give him lap-dances and when he finally spoke to to her at the insistence of myself the first thing he told her was don't say a thing to me until you see a lawyer as this young man's parents really angry about his death. After 26 years I'm still angry and have no respect for the RCMP in Canada.

Jody is a National Treasure. Anytime Jody makes a public official uneasy, that means he’s on to something bad. This is one of the worst stories he’s uncovered. The pendarvis farm situation with all the Lies from SLED are one of the most egregious overreaching stories I’ve ever heard.

The same thing happened in Portland Oregon to my brother-in-law his girlfriend shot him in the police convinced him that he shot himself in the gut with a 45.

The PROBLEM with most Law Enforcers is they are NOT properly trained! Just a couple months of MINIMAL training and you too can be a UNQUALIFIED officer! This happened to my cousin 18 years ago this shit happens all the time, my cousins killer is still roaming around as a free man. Coroner said was impossible for him to shoot himself in the head at the trajectory where he was shot but sheriff dept still ruled it a suicide.

The mother's instincts were correct. Had the Sheriff charged the girlfriend with murder, she would not have been convicted, not only because of destruction of crime scene evidence and no homicide investigation, but, because the specifics of the case do not meet the language of the statute for murder. It's totally outrageous that the Sheriff tried to make such a deal because he wanted to coverup his incompetence by excluding SLED (sp) who would have thoroughly investigated the dept.
