Who’s here in 2021, and STILL finds this song one of the best of all times?!! They were SOOO very underrated to say the least! What amazing musicians they all were! I miss them immensely!!!
This came out in 89 at the end of the "hair band" era of metal. Grunge came next and bands like this just faded away. This is a good song though. Sure, they're underrated. But "one of the best songs of all time"? Sorry dude, this might make a top 500 Metal songs of the 80's but that's it.
Absolutely!!! Jason is a phenomenal musician. I understand that the singer passed away and perhaps slowed the bands progress... Perhaps similar to how Bonzo's death ended Zep.
@@rolltide9547 I've said that many times, and people reply that "everybody thinks that of their era," but what other generation is still having their music played EVERYWHERE you go, ALL AROUND THE WORLD? Only we do!
Grew up in the 80's! 59 now...nothing compares to 80's ROCK!!!! This song is flat out awesome. D. Macmaster sounds amazingly like Robert Plant! R.I.P Daniel gone way to soon.
My daughter asked me about the music I listened to when I was a teen back in the 80’s. I made her a playlist and shared it with her. About a week or so later she told me that she was envious of the music quality and talent I grew up with. She’s also a fan of the videos from then and the live stuff out there. Proud dad
My 30 yr old son is always telling me he is jealous that I lived during the eighties because as he said dad your generation has the best music, the best looking women and the concerts had to be out of the world.his first Rick concert was Def Leppard poison cheap trick which proved him right .he was 15
I love reading all of this. These were the days brothers and sisters. 80s was legendary. Greatest time to be alive. Greatest music ever. The times was so good. Greatly missed. Today is so much different, way to stressful. GOD BLESS TO ALL. I'll never forget the times, friends, life style. And happiness ✌ peace😊
I was the assistant engineer on this record, and was just listening to cassettes I ran when they were tracking it, sounded much better without the overdubs, one of DW first drum kits!
Exactly. A lot of "Disregard of Timekeeping" reminded me of "In Through the Out Door" era Zepp and maybe some of Plant's first two solo albums with Phil Collins.
It's a formula bro. They stand on to he successes of past bands and try to copy said success. However, this band was special. Jason is much better than Bonzo was and Daniel could wail. It was a great band.
@Spiders From mars I think he had talent. I think if he would still be alive he might have found his own sound. The song was really just an anthem anyway and anthems aren't focused on great vocals, just the vibe. The chorus on wait was awesome in my opinion.
Yes, he had been really a great vocalist, and I do not know IF Jason Bonham is still in any band. I do wonder what had been what had taken the life of Daniel MacMaster.
@@joshj392 Okay, so, you mean that Jason Bonham either IS, or had been in the band "Sammy Hagar and the circle?" I must say that as far as Van Halen goes, I liked Sammy as the vocalist BEST. DLR just turned my stomach. I just don't care for EGOMANIACAL people, however you spell it.
No shit! I am 50 now. I feel like I have been chasing that euphoria ever since. I believe it was just one magical time to never be again. Damned shame, too.
coming back to this in 2023, and it still hits like it could get airplay on a modern rock station. one of my favorite albums (along with the equally underrated Mad Hatter) and both are near criminally underrated
Rock In Peace.. Lead singer. Daniel Stewart MacMaster. July 11, 1968 - March 16, 2008 died from a Group A streptococcal infection .. He was married and had two children, Kaleb and Aryanna..
One of the greatest bands from the 80's.The lead singer sounds just like Robert Plant, and Jason Bonham kicks ass on the drums just like his father did !!!!
I don't care what people say but the 80's was the greatest decade ever being a teenager in the eighties was being spoiled Good Times really really good time and the peek was between 1985 and 1990 whoever knows what I'm talking about don't you wish you can go back
First heard this when I was in Germany. Didn’t buy the album but liked this song. Heard it in the radio the other day and man did the memories come flooding back. Haven’t heard it in so long I had almost forgotten about it. I’m 56 now and I could listen to stuff from the 70s and 80s all day long. I have no idea what todays music sounds like and frankly don’t care
49 yrs old, still hanging out with 4 other buddies from high school. We have been to over 400 concerts together and still Rockin' after all of these years. Our hair isn't as long as it used to be, but what a hell of a ride we have had... The best was after graduation, going out to LA on the Sunset Strip for a week! Parties and bands every night!! I wouldn't change a thing
kim laseck --no need to worry kim, I'm working on a phone booth similar to Bill and Ted's time machine via Rufus and we will be going back to that time and place....just a few more experiments...
Hell yeah, I used to have a satellite dish and used to watch the Headbanger's Ball from Midnight to 3 am and if there was something I missed, I'd catch the west feed from 3am - 6am then sleep for 4 hours afterwards. lol
LOL ~ I was parked in front of the tv waiting for Headbangers Ball & saw every episode from start to finish. I had heard they brought it back so I checked it out but they ruined it. I still have my MTV Headbangers Ball t-shirt & it still fits!
I personally knew Daniel! We were playing at a club in Barrie and this cute young dude dressed up like a rocker walked in and introduced himself! Over the next couple years he’d always come and say Hey Harry how’s it going? One time he got up and sang ! Holy Crap! Blew us all away! Great guy! Great human! RIP Daniel McMaster our rock and roll brother!🤘
I remember waiting for Mtv to play this video. It was great news for us Rockers that the great John Bonham had a son named Jason, had a band! We were not disappointed!
Beatles0223 - agree mate, I think they copped too much crap at the time for being a (alleged) Led Zeppelin rip off , but I thought as well that this was a solid album
I saw them at Summers on the Beach in Ft. Lauderdale with my now ex husband. They were amazing. Lauderdale beach was still rockin and had cool people. Those great rock clubs are gone now: Button South, Summers....I also saw Kansas, Robin Trower, even Pure Prairie League
When I heard this when it came out I was so blown away at how awesome it was. The whole band was top notch. I remember thinking us Gen’Xers are here and this is our music now Kemosahbe…We may sound like the past, but we are going to put our spin on it and how we want it to sound as well. Just my two poops. Plus, it’s one of the greatest Drummer that ever lived Son
The 80's were the best decade ever!!! I was a teenager and into metal, with long hair and hella girls. Trust me, I talk to people all the time who think their teenage decade was the best, but you had to be there to know why the 80's ruled. If I could go back and relive it, I would in a second!
If I have this playing at my mom's kinda quiet , she would ask who that is. I would tell her it's in your memory collection Mom. She is a big fan of L.Z.
Lol! Had this on cassette back in the day! Ran out of gas sneaking my first car out to school (no license so Mom wigged-out), with this playing in the deck! Ahhh, to be a teen in the 80's again. Just a once-thru... was far from enough to get it right. Still trying at 43!
Yeah 80's music was classic that will never repeated. Senior 87'. best music was 84 and up to about 93! I say all the best music has already been made.
Daniel MacMaster passed away March 16, 2008 at the age of 39. He died at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre of a Group A streptococcus infection. Very sad that the music world lost this amazing voice.
@@rebeccaspinoso8072 your welcome, he went from a small time band named Scorcher in Barrie Ontario Canada, to touring the world, all us Barrie peeps are quite proud of how far Danny went, he is missed terribly
I will always love the 80's. It takes me back when I was a teenager. God love this music. So proud I experienced this music. Feel sorry for others who was born after. My son is in his 30s and I tried to influence him . He understands his favorite band was wasp and others. So I tried to pass it on. I'm working on my granddaughter, hopefully it takes. I will never give up on the 80s , till the day I die. Love you metal heads. You know who you are.
I am 53 years old and the 80's are some of the best memories of my life ... The tight af black leather pants and of course the long hair of the guys in the hair bands ..... Oh be still my ❤️💓💓💓💓!!!!
Nigel Ciera Dude... just stop. Seriously. We get it. You don't like this song, and that's fine, but it gets really annoying when we see the same comment three or four times. Once is more than enough. :/
Sadly, Daniel MacMaster, the band’s lead singer passed away in 2008 at age 39 due to a Group A Streptococcal infection; left behind a wife and two kids. Rest easy, Daniel.
I was 19 when this came out. Just came across this on RU-vid. Haven't heard it in over 20 yrs. Great song. They definitely have a Zeppelin vibe. I love this music. Eighties rock is the best.
When his dad passed away, my work gave me a paid week off for bereavement leave. Imagine ?? They did the same thing when I had to put my dog down. Jason has done his dad proud !!!!!
I was introduced to Daniel ( RIP) at a Hamilton bar called the Jockey Club / Dorseys ( RIP also no longer there) by his girlfriend at the time Cherie Howden (RIP) Dan was still in Scorcher at the time. Super, super nice down to earth guy, whom I'll never forget. Sure there was Zep similarities, why wouldn't you run with it? Great voice with lots of range.
DANIAL MCMASTER WAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL MAN. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AND MAN HE COULD SING. SO SORRY HE DIED TOO YOUNG! I STILL LOVE LISTENING TO BOHNAM ABSOLUTELY! WONDERFUL BAND WHO ROCKED ME AWAY! GOD BLESS JASON AND THE REST OF THE BAND. I THINK THEY WERE SENSATIONAL!
I don't care what anybody says, we had the best Music back then. OMG It was electric in your mind and body! Just Perfect! Man they worked hard for that sound! And then with a girl, Oh Man it was magic!
I've followed music my entire life for 35 years, from heavy metal when it was king, to rap/r&b. This is definitely one of the most underrated rock songs of all time...
the lead singer of this awesome group was and still is one of a kind. I still miss Daniel. What a voice and a ultra hottie. May the angels continue to be with him.
@@illostr8 I remember when I first heard this band..and yeah, he most definitely had the Robert Plant..chops! I loved this group from day 1 of hearing their first album! 💞🎸💜🎶..
The rock from the late 60's,70's & early 80's stands the test of time 40-50 years later ( Zep, Sabbath, Purple, Hendrix, Cream, Aerosmith, Rush, Stones, Ac/ DC, Priest, Van Halen etc..etc..etc Will the crap of today still be played 50 years later? I think not. Best time to have grown up..musically!
How fun to find this song again! I recall it fondly and it’s been in my head somewhere since it came out. For those of us in our sixties there has been much great music, in many genres, to appreciate. How music makes one feel; what music moves one to think or act upon; is timeless! To paraphrase author Gertrude Stein: “We are all the same age inside.” At what does a person “grow up”?? At what point does a person “move on past” the loss of a love??
well it is Jason Bonham on drums so it make sense he'd probably wanna play music like his dad John Bonham from Zeppelin. only they were in the 80's glam rock scene. Great song though
