Why is it that people who have 'broadway" voices...can never sing pop songs like "normally" without sounding like they are on Broadway haha....vocal technique I suppose.
+EverydayBeautiful L.A. It's the technique, and the way they were taught to sing. As someone who does community theater as a hobby, I know how to sing with correct pitch. However, when I try to sing pop songs, it just sounds different. Pop and music theater use different vowels and consonants and it changes the way the song sounds.
Yup, I second +coolness06 there. There's a certain level of training you must have and which you also acquire when on Broadway that makes it sound a liiiittle different. Kind of like, more polished, let's say. If you were to put it into some kind of order, opera is obviously the kinda singing that requires the MOST training. I mean, those people are barely perfect. Your everyday -good- radio singer, like Sia, Adele, Pink, Christina Aguilera... Idk, Demi Lovato, Jesse J, I mean, pop singers in general, may have a GREAT technique, because if not they would basically be killing off their vocal chords on every song, but there's certain things that they don't need to change or improve for that. A broadway singer is, in my vision of these things, kind of a middle point. They do have to change the way some phonemes are produced for them to have a better sound on stage, but it's not like they're gonna go all Kristin Chenoweth on you all of the time, so they may or may not have opera -ish training. Finding that in a pop singer is INCREDIBLY rare. I mean, I can't think of one at the moment to be honest. Damn, this is a long comment. If anybody got to this part, please, my congratulations on your patience and my due thank yous as well for taking the time to read it :)
Technique. I am classically trained so I sing a lot of opera but I hate how I sound when I sing pop because of the way I have been trained and the style of music I have been singing for a long time. Each genre or style has a different technique being used vocally that helps produce the type of sound that you need. If I want to sing something in my "pop" voice it just sounds like musical theatre so yeah...lol
+Nahuel Martinez Pop singers with good technique are Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Sohyang.... But everyone you metioned have either medium technique (Adele, Pink) or bad technique like Demi Lovato, Jessie J, Sia and the queen of strain Christina Aguilera.
