Watch Bonobo and organist Anna Lapwood perform 'Otomo' live at the Royal Albert Hall
• Watch Bonobo and organ...
For the finale of his five-night residency, which was the first of its kind to take place at the Royal Albert Hall, Simon Green aka Bonobo invited the Hall’s Associate Artist and acclaimed organist Anna Lapwood to join him in the show’s finale ‘Otomo’ (co-produced by O’Flynn).
In an act of near complete spontaneity and coincidence, the two met whilst Anna rehearsed in the building late at night after Simon’s fourth event at the venue. Fast forward 18 hours and the two were performing live together in a truly spine-tingling collaboration.
Hi there, greetings from Melbourne, Australia! Love the reactions so far, been going through so many. I saw this a few months ago and it's been on repeat for ages. it was so spontaneous and all organised within 18 hours for the organist to perform with this band (more in video description). it is different but that what makes it awesome. I would advise to turn it up to feel the full effect. Hope you enjoy it as much as i have.

Love this so much! Not enough people react to Bonobo. He is musical genius and his collaboration with Anna Lapwood is epic. Thank you!

Anna said neither the band on stage (apart from Simon green) or the audience knew the pipe organ was going to be part of this song. She spoke of how loud the actual music was and it was almost deafening. When the pipe organ came in it completely drowned out the PA system. Weird thing is the audience had both hands in the air and almost started worshiping the organ. Very weird. I saw her at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City in NJ a couple of weeks ago. I am a donator and contributor to the restoration of the organ there. it is the world's largest organ. My best buddy works on that project every week. This was actually the first full show the organ had done since 1944. There is another version of this in which you can actually see her.

This is why the pipe organ is known as the king of instruments. None other than Mozart coined the phrase.

man I love Bonobo. Not only does he composes some amazing music, but his performances are a dreamy experience that cannot leave you jaded.

9997 pipes in that organ and it's only the second largest in the UK! Not even the 10th largest in the world! Its power is just phenomenal!

I can only imagine what kind of power this organ projects when being played. No recording could ever capture it to it’s fullest. It must be epic times 100.

Yes, this! I was just thinking how you really need to watch both viewpoint videos for the full effect.

Hans Zimmer would have proudly put his name to that. It belongs on the soundtrack to a Christopher Nolan film. Epic.

Can you imagine a beautiful petite 27 year old woman at the keyboard of this massive instrument and playing it like it were a natural extension of herself. Anna Lapwood is an artist extroidinare on the organ. I am a grown man but this made me cry the first time I heard it. There is something about the organ that goes right to the soul when played this way...

This organ is called the Henry Willis organ and it is amongst the biggest instruments in the whole world. Building this organ started in 1870 and took 14 months to complete.(just in time for the first concert done by William Thomas Best on July 18, 1871) This organ has 9999 pipes ranging from 2 feet 6 inches in diameter so just a drinking straw. It is 70 feet high and 65 feet wide and weighs 150 Tonnes. Lay all the pipes end to end and it will be 9 miles long.

You had an organ that size in your church? I sat up there in the seat next to the organ to watch Public Service Broadcasting last year. Downside was I had to look at the back of the bands heads and bothered to count the number of monitors in front and above me, that 99% of the audience could see. Wish Anna was there! You must look up Anna Lockwood as her video of this is so much better. "Anna Lockwood Bonobo Otomo" will get you there.
