To all my P.I. brothers and sisters apologies on my awful pronunciation of Sua'ali'i. I swear I practice it before every show and then get on the show to butcher it every time. Smh Just to be transparent always, I did reach out to him and apologise and he was gracious enough to understand 🙏 Hope everyone enjoyed our takes and the bonus ep though. All love. Skip 🙏
Most Samoans are pronouncing it wrong too tbh. Technically its Su - ah - ah - lee - E. Double A and double E sound if that makes sense. Scope isn’t too far off to be fair. Anyway it’s only falai maukegi maaan. You da man skip 🤍
We spend the rest of our lives with our families...when we go home they are there...they put roof over our head...food on our table...speak a lingo...we represent them...because when we leave our homes to go out into the fake world of dog eat dog and every asshole screws everyone else over to get ahead in life...the outside world is the country you live in...the Matrix system that is. Australia is a system. Samoa/Tonga/PNG/Fiji is the heart.
A prime example of a well-balanced rationale and emotional-based response to a very sensitive subject. Delivered by those who have lived it. This is the currency of your platform, and it's worth damn every cent. Kudos to you boys.
We are very lucky to have these presenters and these platforms now to be able to represent these kind of player and fan narratives. These perspectives could be said about how Polynesian players are treated by the ABs and when they are no longer selected and can’t play for their heritage countries. International league scheduling is so inconsistent, this could be the only chance for all these players to make a decision like this, so they might as well go while they can. This is easily one of the best things to happen to the game in a long time. Having all our most talented and young players surrounded by their people, their culture and all the experienced older players is sooooo gawd. The international game can take over the islands. The product is going to be so good. All the player exchanges between different players from different clubs. Can’t wait.
Thanks for speaking on this tokos. Had my eye on PK since he bagged To'o for playing for NSW & Samoa, then this, and more recently he had a go at Taumalolo for wanting his suspension to be for Cowboys games, not Tonga, which is a fair argument. He's always got something to say about us 🤔🧐🤔🧐
Dude, I love this. I watched that discussion about the Polynesian players representing their heritage. First, we respect and acknowledge the part that Australia and NZ play in developing our players. But they should at least try and understand our culture and what it means to us. Our ancestors have sacrificed a lot for us to come this far. So, as a culture that centered on God and families, we always try to give back to our community, not only for sports but also for any opportunity we can find.
As a Māori. i know i want to win but to grow the game I wish nz could’ve release niukore, cnk, rapana and maybe Joey manu to help cookislands thrive. it’d hurt kiwis but we have so much depth. should let those boys build up that nation especially since you all ready have Esan masters, piakura, pride petterson-Robson Zane tatevano n dylan napa. Also potentially Val holmes commited to kukis aswell. It’s not a side that will win a World Cup but it’s a side to cause some chaos to an eng, aus or nz. Also it’ll influence more cook islanders to strive to rep that jersey rather than choosing a tier 1 bation
The players pick who they want to play for, it's not on the Kiwis to "release" them or tell them who to play for. The biggest loser by far was NZ when the players first started choosing their heritage. They lost like half their squad, not blaming the players it's their right, but nobody had a problem with any of this then
@@strangerdanger3704 yeah if Jase or afb not leave the kiwis. i don’t think Tonga win that game in the World Cup. but you don’t hear the kiwis moan abt it. we got beat by the beater team
Ma'u, Fusitu'a, Taukeiaho, Lolohea, Havilli as well as AFB and JT, would've been in the main squad and there are probably 4-5 others in the wider squad too
Kunty playing devils advocate as per. They got what they wanted out of the story, Outrage and the almighty click 😂 Atleast we have you guys and Bloke network to balance out the filth 🤝
It's like they can't accept that people can be proud of all parts of their heritage. I guarantee you the Suali'is, Paulos, Papali'is and Taumalolos of the world most definitely proud Australian/New Zealanders as well, but the link to the islands is always fortified because they're still raised on island values even if they haven't been or live there anymore.
This aged well and was spot on after world cup final. These bro's know what they were talking about. Good to see all the Poly teams getting up, and appreciation to Aus and NZ for for the opportunity. Toko uso bro mate.
100% agree with the boys here, especially loved the Tedesco and Joseph comparison. If they restrict the boys to choose origin or country one or the other will suffer big time. If league is actually going to grow they need the international game to grow.
Really hated Willie in his hayday for choosing Aussie over New Zealand. Now as an adult, I definitely get what he is talking about and absolutely spot on. Awesome take.
The only defense Paul Kent has is uninformed - you're right Mase. Personally, I think he's just sour cuz he's feeling threatened Australia aren't a shoe-in to win the world cup for once (although they'll probably still win, it's way tighter than ever)
All aussies are dude. So many aussies are annoyed n offended that theses poly boys taking that state jersey just to play for a tier 2 nation. they don’t realise that poly culture is dominating the sport now they can pick n choose cause it’s in the right of the rules
@@damianmoehau9401 yeah for sure, they aren't breaking the rules set in place. I do kinda get their point at the same time though... But they do have to decide whether they really want competitive international footy or not. If they want it, then they gotta let these boys go play, simple as that. They'll kill all international football otherwise
@@ryanway9346 nah they don’t want competitiveness they want domination. the best of the best playing for them. Imagine if the trbjovic boys and teddy decided to play for italy or macedonia they’d cry even more
I think one big thing is, mal meniga picked suallii just so Samoa couldn’t, he was never going to be first picked, but to make sure he didn’t go to Samoa they put him the squad.
Sadly it’s what the all blacks have done for years. 1 test island players that can never represent their heritage again. But that’s just my opinion. If u don’t believe me, go ask piatau, sopoaga and a whole bunch of other names who only ever got a run against bottom tier nations
@@teenelesoni324 they have different eligibility rules, so no they didn’t. They had every chance to play for the island teams but they chose to play for the all blacks.
Doesn’t mean the all blacks didn’t do the same. Their rules are more harsh eligibility wise but this isn’t questioning rules. This is questioning whether a player was picked so he couldn’t play for another country. In this case Sualii can choose without the same repercussions
@@teenelesoni324 They weren't picked so they couldn't play for another country. They were selected because they were the best and at any stage, they could have reverted back to their heritage-based team as Sualii did. My initial comment stands corrected then though? Not sure when a Polynesian player was picked and didn't get a run, they were picked because they were going to play. Sualii was picked to force his hand so he wouldn't pick samoa. Very different circumstances.
The biggest problem is that they don't understand that a lot of the time, these islander kids that are born abroad still identify first as Samoan/Tongan etc. and then NZ/Aus second. Until they can wrap their heads around that, their narrow minded opinions will keep going around in circles when they should have faith in their next guy up.
100% true. Not only that, when asked where they’re from, Australia can’t be the correct answer because they don’t look Australian. It’ll always be “Australian/NZ born Samoan”. In fact, if half these blokes weren’t playing footy, no one would call them Aussies at any time of their life!
Its only racist if he dont want to be educated on our community. PK been digging this hole since 2014 not giving 2 hoots about the pacific nations. spot on boys. love this pody lads
Agree Kenty is a proud Aussie, but the show is called 360 because everyone has different opinions and at the end of the day sometimes people have to just agree to disagree.
Mase hit it right on the head. Well articulated and is speaking from a viewpoint similar to these Samoan/Tongan boys in terms of having options of teams to choose from. Also think the other uso bringing up the Teddy/Suali’i comparison was 🤌🏽. Good Job lads !
Scope on point with PK one eyed for Aussie to dominate still. Mase been there before in this exact position… end of. Get PK on here to educate him face to face… do it
Family first always we understand that 💯. The point that mase and horro made is that Tonga and Samoa need to be tier 1 now. Same situation as all the English and New Zealand nrl players
You on point Massion, iknow we proud people sometimes our boys pick Aussie or New Zealand just because of the money but thanks to the Mate Maa to set a good example for the rest of the islands boys.
@@teenelesoni324 if you read my comment I said make them tier one and make them chose so the same would be the case for teddy and no problem with it happening this year as it is within the rules nrl and international rugby league have set so if we wake everyone tier 1 from next year onwards they have to chose.
Which is fine, the issue isn’t with them playing origin. It’s about making sure the rules cover all players. Because currently there’s no issue at all with Joey or teddy having done what they have.
I'm sweet with the pasifika boys who were born and raised in aus to play origin. Why should they miss out on playing it? They all paid their regos to play in their junior leagues, played junior reps for their states and went to league schools, they have every right to play it and get paid for it. PK made a dumb comment saying they're mercenaries but that would only apply to an outsider who has no connection to the blue or maroon jersey, these players do! They all came up in their respective state systems.
Exactly!! Mason is on point!! 😤😤 Choosing to play for Samoa or Tonga over Australia or NZ is a bad choice in all aspects. Playing for Aus or NZ is an easy pay day and a free trophy 🏆 (let's be honest with ourselves) now why would anyone turn that? Easy answer when it comes to Polynesian people - FAMILY ❤️ How could you ever hold that against someone?
It’s such a tricky situation, either the NRL has to go down the you have to play for Australia first to play in origin rule. Or we let kiwis and poms do the same, I don’t think it’s fair how someone like Luai can play Origin and for Samoa but someone like Foran can’t play Origin and for New Zealand. Now I’m a basic white Aussie bitch so if it is different then let us know boys. 🐐 show
You don't know the difference? Jarome is born in Australia, Foran is born in New Zealand. Jarome is both an Aussie and Samoan. Why can't Forqn play Origin, well cos he wasn't born in Australia.
@@hamospartan685 I agree but I think it’s stupid how there’s that you got to be in australia before your 13 if you want to play origin coming from nz/eng
@@hamospartan685 the only reason foran can't play origin is because he chose NZ. He moved to Australia in primary school (under 12 years of age). He was eligible to play for NSW since his first senior footy was in NSW.
It makes perfect sense? He was born and raised in Aus with Samoan parents? Poms with no connection to Aus other than coming here to play footy, not really hard to understand
If you don't want the Polynesians in State of Origin, don't pick 'em!Toa Samoa vs Mate Ma'a Tonga would sell out at Homebush during a State of Origin series....they talk about growing the international game, well Samoa,Tonga,PNG and Fiji playing a 4 Nations series during State of Origin keeps everyone happy...with some gate takings given to the relative Leagues.
What is honestly the most pathetic thing is that NZ and England players are not allowed to play SoO. Things like that are ridiculous. Either let everyone eligible play, oronly Aus international prospects. Picking and choosing just fucks over NZ, who have already been fucked over way more than anyone by these international changes
They set up the tier 2 rule to pinch players and boost the Aussie squad. It's all about staying on top & weakening the momentum of the growing numbers of island players in NRL.
I have always valued big Willie Mason. Whether it’s his footy, his mic’d up moments (hilarious), his playful nature and his no nonsense opinion and footy brain
Tonga beating Australia a few years ago and Samoa making the final of the world cup is the best thing that's ever happened to international rugby league, it's a decade or so ago that the right league world cup was seen as a joke because there were really only 3 teams in it, now with Samoa in the final, the next world may see more players choose to play for Pacific nations and what we get is a much better quality world cup
Pacific islanders no matter whether they are full blooded, half or quarter and regardless of where they were born, their motherland/Ancestors blood run through their veins. Tama Samoa song. The words clearly give them their identity. No matter where they are in their paths in life, they are Sons of Samoa 🇼🇸.
i think Willie is talking about like a polynesian born in New Zealand, the All Blacks is the pinnacle but your heritage is about representing your family/roots
Every sport commentator must learn how to correctly pronounce the players names. This shows respect for these players and their families. Will Mason pronounce the Suaalii name. Well done Willie.
🤝 finally someone who speaks the actual facts of the poly people that kent doesn't even know. We are proud people of the pacific connected by ocean. You can't even take that patriotic feeling from these blokes you salty aussies
So true bro, that’s why there’s a massive discussion about players turning to island nation because we’re becoming too much of a threat, it’s almost like they’re scared 😂😂😂😂
they’re representing their background, they have all the right to do so, it’s funny how everyones so quick to forget about Victor Radleys’ decision to rep England lol
They have such an opportunity with the State of Origin period. It'd be better for these lads to represent those countries in rep games. NZ, Papua, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands. There are 3 games of SOO. If they moved it to a 3 week period. Have a Rugby League festival for 3 weeks. Origin could be played on friday one week, saturday night the next finishing on Sunday. That's 7 day turn around. Add to it the internationals played either side - Thursdays to Sunday.
Maybe Paul Kent could do some promotional work in the pacific islands so he can understand the cultural importance of our heritage. Also the same with our Māori brothers Paul Kent just seemed ignorant of the importance of our family and culture.
Well done ladz.. he is indeed a proud Australian and can come across as racist with his approach to something that means alot to us 1st and 2nd generation poly-Australians. Allthough he is out of line with his take on origin eligibility and international selection, it gives context to his comments by labelling him a proud australian coz i definitely understand that pride being a first generation Aus/Samoan myself. Great podcast boys keep up the great work Mase you mad unt.💙
WELL, DONE WILLIE MASON you are 100per cent correct, I think Paul Kent is fearful that one day Australia will be beaten, i wonder what he was like when New Zealand won the world Cup???
