thank you to disney-hyperion for sending me a copy of every last word by tamara ireland stone in exchange for an honest review! this book came out on june 16, 2015.
About the Book:
If you could read my mind, you wouldn't be smiling.
Samantha McAllister looks just like the rest of the popular girls in her junior class. But hidden beneath the straightened hair and expertly applied makeup is a secret that her friends would never understand: Sam has Purely-Obsessional OCD and is consumed by a stream of dark thoughts and worries that she can't turn off.
Second-guessing every move, thought, and word makes daily life a struggle, and it doesn't help that her lifelong friends will turn toxic at the first sign of a wrong outfit, wrong lunch, or wrong crush. Yet Sam knows she'd be truly crazy to leave the protection of the most popular girls in school. So when Sam meets Caroline, she has to keep her new friend with a refreshing sense of humor and no style a secret, right up there with Sam's weekly visits to her psychiatrist.
Caroline introduces Sam to Poet's Corner, a hidden room and a tight-knit group of misfits who have been ignored by the school at large. Sam is drawn to them immediately, especially a guitar-playing guy with a talent for verse, and starts to discover a whole new side of herself. Slowly, she begins to feel more "normal" than she ever has as part of the popular crowd . . . until she finds a new reason to question her sanity and all she holds dear.
About the Author:

I TOTALLY DID NOT SEE THE PLOT TWIST COMING and I don't want to spoil anything but I can't believe this book isn't more popular! I LOVED it! One of my favorites now. :) and I really like your book reviews!

I NEVER cry when I read books, but oh my god this one made me cry. I agree with everything you said, but one thing I would like to add is that I loved and really appreciated the relationship of Sam and her therapist. There is always misconceptions about therapists, and I really loved how the author made her therapist a great character and someone who made a big difference in Sam's life.

I read this book last year. I finished it in one sitting. And I'm telling you, up to this day, I'm still broken inside. One of best yet painful plotwists. I was crying while reading the last chapter because I don't want the story to end. The way it was written made feel like I was there, in every scene, with Samantha.

This book is amazing because it is so incredibly relatable not the OCD part but the interactions with boys and friends and the overthinking in her head.

Just finished reading the book and I enjoyed it. I love that it teaches readers about OCD (its common misconceptions and all that) and also it made me somewhat realized that we should be our own bestfriend and supporter :) I love your review of this book, on point and funny as usual

This book sounds so interesting, Sophia. I think I can relate to it, as I too write poetry and share it with a close friend. I have a depressive disorder too. Thanks for the review, Sophia, I'll go grab this soon. I also find it funny that it was released on my birthday, June 16th. :)

It's in my top 3 books. I just finished it, and I just couldn't stop reading. I swear from about somewhere on page 250/280 until the end, I couldn't stop crying 😭. The plot twist is so unexpected and amazing and fits the storyline so well because when you look back, it all makes sense. You just don't seem to think about it in the moment. I'm also obsessed with poetry, so for the poetry in the book to be that good, it just means everything. I hate romance books so I don't know why in dear sweet heaven I chose this one but I'm glad I did because instead of second hand embarrassment, every time something with romance came up it was just simply cute. It is so well written and you just feel like Sam in the moment, you feel her emotions, thoughts, you just feel HER. I could talk all day about this book but I won't because I think I described every last word.

After coming off some really good fantasy reads (by Maas & Pearson), this book seemed like a big let down for me. I liked it okay but the whole plot was Samantha's personal growth, like you said and getting to the place where she could be confident and accept herself for who she was. I did like the relationship between Sam and her therapist and found their sessions interesting. I'm surprised you cried at this one!

most people dont say this, im sorry if this comes out wrong, BUT she is "obsessed" (idk what the word im looking for is) with the number 3. she tells aj that she names her playlist according to 3 words from a song in the playlists and thats what she names the playlist. similarly, the chapters' titles are all 3 words, summing up the whole chapter; as well as the title of the book.
