Thanks for new information. More I read about American civil war , more I realise that the battle had many layers it was not just union vs confederate war. Politicians fought with one another , Union generals fought with one another , journalists and lobbyists tried to make or brake carrers of soldiers and many more. I will add few more names of Union generals who were wronged by their political masters or colleagues and they are : Rosecrans , George Thomas , GK Warren. Union victory is definitely not about trioka of Grant , Sherman , Sheridan , there is much more to it.
Agree 100 percent. Also Patterson was scapegoated for First Bull Run. He told the Lincoln Administration that the Confederates had left Winchester an entire day before the battle and they still blamed him. His entire army was disbanding because the enlistments were expiring. There was nothing he could have done.
