Born into slavery in Virginia in the mid-to-late 1850s, Booker T. Washington put himself through school and became a teacher after the Civil War. In 1881, he founded the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute in Alabama (now known as Tuskegee University), which grew immensely and focused on training African Americans in agricultural pursuits. A political adviser and writer, Washington clashed with intellectual W.E.B. Du Bois over the best avenues for racial uplift. #Biography

I guess we choose the wrong approach, we should have listen to Booker T

and Malcolm. Other groups knew this better and built an economic basis first. We were crushed down more by racism but so many people gave up trying to build and instead rushing to be consumers and integrating.

THIS BROTHER IS SO, SO WRONG... Tuskegee had a FULL SET OF COURSE IN ALL DISCIPLINES. JUST AS TEXAS A&T DOES TODAY. AND HAD WE LISTENED AND FOLLOWED BTW, WE WOULD HAVE SELF REPARATIONS NOW!!
