My life has started to revolve around books, i have just started spending 25 percent of my salary every month on books, im watching booktube everyday and listening to audiobooks and reading books and if im not reading im buying or searching - its starting to be a problem, but a problem i can cope with
When you moved LotR to the shelf with HP and GoT I said "YES!" out loud haha!! It's like sports for book nerds. I can't explain why I loved watching this so much but ughhh I wish it was longer 😆 so satisfying.
I lost my cousin ten days back to Covid19. He was 38 and I was very close to him so it has been a harrowing loss. This video is almost meditative and has helped calm me down so much. Thank you. ❤️ Please know you have touched my life. Love from India.
I've been putting off a bookshelf organization session for AGES, but watching your video has motivated me to just jump into it!!! What would we ever do without you Ciara???😂💛📚
Hi Ciara. Thought I'd just leave you a message to say how much I enjoyed your video. There is really something aesthetically pleasing about shelves full to the brim with books 📚 I love the classics, in particular 😉
Love seeing how other people categorise books, as soon as you said Madeline Miller I was thinking 'literary fiction!' but it's funny because I know that someone else would shuffle my shelves around if they could haha. Very satisfying video, makes me look forward to the day when I can organise my perfect shelves x
I have been looking forward to this video!! So exciting! Favorite book tube channel for sure thank you so much for your incredible videos! I cant wait to watch this one when I get home ❤️
i love literally every video you post. the reading vlogs, the reading wrap ups, what I eat in a day, bookshelf organizations, TBR... EVERYTHING. haha ok i'm okay, not obsessed at all :'D
I`m from Brazil and this Penguin Classics Deluxe editions are soo rare to find 😭 I only read Emma, Sense and sensibility and Frankenstein in this editions and they are incredible, with the annotations and everything
I feel so contented and excited for the books to be organised - especially as you have more space!!! Enjoy sitting and staring at your books and being able to find the one you want instantly rather than playing book jenga!
The shelves look beautiful! Though, I think that The Book Thief can hardly be considered a fantasy book--I'd put it in the darker reads section if I were you, or maybe historical fiction
@@ciarascorner yeah ... I was on the minimalistic side of things...sort of..., looking for happiness within me and it made me really sad : D it's definitely high time for a good book and a big mug. :) have a nice Sunday ( and anyone who reads this, too)
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that! I definitely agree with the principal of minimalism but I also think having things isn’t bad if they make you happy! So if a nice mug and a great book brings you joy, enjoy them!💕
I am loving the level of detail on your thought processs as to where to place books, I have the same dilemma! Absolutely you need to have a Jane Austen shelf 😍📚
In the public library where I work historical fiction based on real events is shelved in ‘historical fiction’ whereas historical fiction based on non events is ‘fantasy’ - that may help you decide where they go, though I accept it’s not an exact science and it’s entirely up to you. I organise books all day in work, so at home....not so much. Though I could happy fiddle with books for the next 20 years I don’t like to keep books I have read, unless absolute favourites. My shelves would be 95% ‘to be read’ 5% read/favourites. But I do really love looking at other peoples collections.
Hahah that makes sense! It’s definitely a struggle for certain books that just don’t feel like they absolutely belong in one section! But that just means more fun with organising!
And more challenges in work! Lol. Just wondering. - all the books on yours shelves - are they a mixture of read and to be read or have you read them all? It is a great collection - really enjoying this video and wishing you and Jay lots of happy memories made in your new home, and with your new bookshelves : )
Such a fun video! Your videos are always so incredible! ❤️ I hope everyone seeing this comment is doing well despite all of the difficult circumstances in the world right now. I love that you quickly plugged Mine by Emily Merrill. A sign of a great friend.
Watching your video I realise I categorised Time Travellers Wife with my contemporary without batting an eyelid - obviously it does have a magical realisim element to it, but I agree feels more contemporary than anything.
I always organize my books by author only as that’s the only way I’d be able to find them lol. I have one bookcase of those read and the other of those not read. Very simple but it is what works for me
My world is books as well. I would love to hang out with you. I love your videos. Your personality is amazing. Thanks for helping me ignore this stupid strep throat. At 57 I thought those days were over but grandkids and here is am. So painful.
This is so relaxing 🧘♀️ Thank you for bringing us along, Ciara. This also helps me categorize mine. Was following along by shelving my Goodreads 📚 which would be an awesome way when the actual organization comes. Also, can't wait for IKEA to come in our country. PS. Was playing Dora helping you find which shelf you placed the books lol
This looks so satisfying and beautiful 🤩 However... you packed 4 boxes of books and almost filled these shelves. I'll be moving in autumn to my own first home and from childhood to university years, I have aquired 12!!! boxes of books, that I WANT to keep. I'm in soo much trouble..😲😲 I cant imagine how many bookshelves that would fill
I might have a stack or shelf of just your TBR books, so you know exactly where to look for a book you haven't read yet. Maybe your memory is better than mine do you wouldn't use this method, but it is an idea!
I haven't watched this until the end, and this is really just what I do, but I usually put sci-fi and dystopian together. Don't really know if you have a sci-fi section tho.
I'd recommend switching the darker romance shelf with the stephen king shelf, so all of the romances are in a vertical line, and the stephen king is right below fantasy and then darker reads and dystopian right below that.
I have 2 Billy bookcases and really need more space! Loving your new set up 😍 Are you going to secure yours to the wall? I saw one wobble forward at one point 😅
i'm pretty late but i just wanted to say that you are absolutely gorgeous! you look like the perfect person to play as a female lead role in a jane austen book.
That looked like a lot of work lol. Why did you decide to go by genre and not by author? I get to do all that once I get around to buying book shelves. I just have all of my books in three boxes in my closet post move haha. Are you able to have an entire room for a home library? I plan on just putting my books in groups by series and author. I think I’m going to ‘read through the boxes’ so only my keep books will end up on the shelves and the non keepers will find new homes. My experience won’t be nearly as satisfying lol. Did Jay decide to get rid of his Westerns except that one?
I have a question with no means to be rude, what is a "dark academia book" or what makes a book fall into the "dark academia" genre, like what kind of toppics have or is about the story or atmosphre or the time they were made? Again not be rude I'm really curious
Honestly, I didn’t really know what it was until last year ahaha! But essentially, dark academia novels are generally set in a college/university/academic setting and surround a dark subject like a murder! Although the genre isn’t super exclusive and is more about the general vibe... The Picture of Dorian Gray and Frankenstein would both fit into the genre although they’re not exclusively in an academic setting - hope that helps!
