For the record, Carl von Linné or Linnaeus is from *Sweden,* not Denmark, as Athos mistakenly mentioned. Linnaeus originally penned his stylish scientific writings in Swedish and in Latin, and, one last clarification: unsurprisingly, the Danes do not speak Dutch. 😂 Athos has a lot of interests, and I would not be surprised if there were Danish and Dutch as well as Swedish scientific writers tucked away on his shelf somewhere, and he just got them mixed up. 😆

This has to be one of the most interesting bookshelf tours I have ever seen on BookTube. 📚 Thanks Athos for letting us into your library! It was truly fascinating. I would love some updated videos on how Athos does with getting to some of those he has yet to read. Great video!

Such a lovely video. It makes me want to start my old vintage book collection. I would 100% read a short story about a second hand bookseller tracking down old book owners from the inscriptions in the front cover!

No true Macaroni's library can be complete without Burton's The Anatomy of Melancholy and the juxtaposition of the aforesaid with specimens of prehistoric life is quite unique.

STOP ! Linnaeus the Dane was actually a Swede, and as such his work wouldn’t have been translated from the Dutch, but Swedish, had it been published today. But it wasn’t. Back in the mid - 1700s Latin was used. So it was published in Latin.

3:56 Linneaus is from Sweden (close enough but don't say that to te Swedes (...or the Danes for that matter)). And he didn't write in Dutch (that's what the Dutch and the Flemish do).
