Boomer Esiason opened up the beginning of his show, "Boomer and Gio" by reacting to the news of Craig Carton's conviction on federal charges of conspiracy, wire fraud and securities fraud.
Boom is such a hypocrite. Knocks folks all day... his boy is a criminal. Anti-worker... lead a strike as a part of the players union in the 80s. Hates loud mouths... famous for being a loud mouth since his playing days. Weird perspective.

Gambling is an ADDICITION if it gets out of control. Great point made that gamblers will always be happy to tell you about their winning days, but rarely mention anything about their losses. I had my biggest win at slots in 2009, but what happened since then? Lol

Mark Schilling , as a former Assistant District Attorney for the government, the up to 45 years is a pacer the assigned judge can use . Did not hear about his co conspirators, but As a former ADA I would recommend at least 10 years in this case. It’s your garden variety white collar crime, and with that , a justified prison sentence is in order, or else we would have people committing crimes of this nature all the time.

I didn't like carton from the first day he was on the show. he's a narcissist,a control freak, he's obnoxious,his voice is annoying and as we learned he's a schemer and a scammer. boy did he blow it. it's sad. when you don't have much it's hard to watch someone who pretty much has it all blow it.
james finnegan hated him from day one also for the reasons you mention. However i dont find this sad at all. Its quite refreshing actually to have a bad guy get his due.
Boomer is talking from his heart a friend with an addiction is tough... the show has never been the same without him but greed and addiction causes a lot of hurt to those around you they are the true victims
This show is so much more listenable. I always found Craig to be over the top and sometimes just downright childish which for me made it a very hard listen so I avoided it in the morning. The show now I actually find myself turning it on in the morning again. Long term it will be better off.
All of his coworkers are saying how he got involved with bad people and meant no harm when actually he sought out help from bad people to introduce him to good people so he can steal from them. Great guy
I didn't know much about this guy as I don't live in New York. I have watched quite a few RU-vid videos of this show, and wow, Carton was one of the biggest radio jerks of all time. Conceited, arrogant, and obviously awful person. The fact that these guys defend him shows more about their character than anything else. We all know Boomer is a massive jerk but the other guys are just as awful. Kay and Francesa are miles ahead of these enablers. They hoped he got off? These guys are terrible human beings.
I used to listen to Carton on occasion when he was on WWWE in Cleveland. He really sucked back then and you could tell just by listening to him that he was a complete scumbag. Now he's going to jail where he'll learn how to pick up soap with his feet. Bohica, Craig.

Don't wanna' wish bad on anybody, but I really couldn't stand Craig on the morning show. He was rude to callers and honestly, he just wasn't that funny. He had his moments of course, but overall I would find myself having to the turn the channel b/c Craig was just pile driving a joke into the ground, or was saying some kind of remark that just didn't sit well with me. I think the show is way better with Gio now. Gio's Mike Francesa impression alone makes him way more valuable to the show. Gio was put into a tough spot and I feel he is doing a great job. But on another note, for everyone in the booth, you guys would give Craig money to gamble on your behalf and he would guarantee returns and this would all be talked about on the show like it was fun and games. It was pretty obvious to see he had some sort of a gambling addiction.
I can understand colleagues being upset at a friend's downfall. But he is not worthy of the mealy-mouthed tributes by these guys. Carton is an arrogant, entitled all-knowing asshole who had no problem telling everyone over the years how stupid they were and mocking others in the masquerade of "good radio". He deserves no tears.

I remember an episode where Carton was asking Boomer for 10k to play Black Jack and he guaranteed he would double Boomers $$ Cuz Craig was this "Master of Black Jack" and luckily Craig found a way to win Boomer money THAT TIME ! You would also always hear Craig take calls on the air from people that were losing money sportsbetting and Craig in his cocky arrogant way tell them what game to bet so they can get out of the hole ! Right then and there I knew Carton was a Degenerate gambler and it surprised me to see how gullible all his coworkers were, especially Boomer in giving Craig 10k of his own $$.
A lot of you in the comments have no sympathy for humans. Even though Craig deserves to going to jail for committing fraud not having respect for those he has to leave behind is disgusting. Yes he is guilty, just like a drug addict, he had an addiction and took money from bad people and had to pay them back, and did so by stealing and being fraudulent. I'll always remember Craig Carton for when he was on NJ 101.5, he got into that huge fight with then acting governor Richard Codey - a self-anointed mental health czar - pointing out that Codey's wife wanted to microwave her baby. Codey then made threats against Carton, which shows that Codey has mental problems. Senator Richard Codey is a mental case... just like Cooper Hospital CEO John Sheridan - another self-anointed mental health czar in NJ - who fatally stabbed his wife in the face before stabbing himself and lighting his house on fire.

He even put shorts ads promoting himself of callers saying "You are one the reasons many people dont like Italians" as he was laughing at the callers . Here's a clue for others as clueless as everyone who worked with Craig Carton. Anyone who bets large sums of money on anything at any time has a gambling problem. People who don't have a gambling problem don't bet large sums of money. EVER! The problem with having a gambling problem, which I know from personal experience, is you can never win enough and you will lose everything trying! Carton lost everything trying and had to run scams to get money to pay his gambling debts! I begged God to help me quit gambling and from that day forward I never placed another bet!
Craig was and will always be an inspiration for those with TS. Everyone is so quick to knock him down, without knowing all the facts!! He is a good guy and a friend. Say whatever you want, but what he did for my son, is priceless and a highlight in our lives.

Winning is hard enough in football (with exceptions like Lombardi, Walsh, certain Raiders teams). In gambling, it's impossible to win consistently without cheating. A gambler is happy to share is his rare "high's,"--which is all the more reason to take very seriously the individual who flashes that occasional lucky hit. He's got a problem--and most of the time he's losing--on the brink of going under.

I agree, there are very few hosts who are entertaining! It's just that I've heard the best in thier prime, and CC is not in the conversation as a top level comic or broadcaster. His opinion of himself was WAY over blown. Same routine wherever he went, make fun and pick on the top guys and force controversy to get your name out there! Boomer forgets when craig screwed him by not placing the bet at the race track with boomers money. Craig figured the horse would lose and he could pocket the cash - about $10k as i recall. As karma would have it the horse won at like 10-1. Boomer got stiffed. What a fraud.
Watching this 3 yrs later and Craig has been back on the air, prime time for almost a year now, a few thoughts... 1st off he barely did any time so he's should be thanking the lord above for that every single day.. 2nd he gets his job back almost immediately and primetime?? That's like being struck by lightning, it's truly an opportunity that let's be honest, NO ONE GETS, again he should be on hands and knees giving thanks... 3rd, his first spot on air/apology was weak, he even said those who covet his spot on air had all that time to take it from him and couldnt.. never forgot that, who says that? Doesn't seem remorseful at all and to this day still arrogant on air and mocks these same morning show guys who had his back all along... Don't listen to his show anymore, I'm sorry but I just can't, feel bad for those who were swindled and maybe are WFAN listeners but have to avoid the afternoon drive cause of him... The show was much better with Craig! He often came off as a jerk, but he was amusing and entertaining. Turns out he was a jerk in real life too, not that surprising either. I always felt like he made for a fun show, but I wouldn't want to be friends with a guy like that. He was a stubborn jerk up until the end, now he has to face the consequences.
Boomer should have known there was a big problem when Carton was taking his money to the black jack table and guaranteeing a return of 100%. No one does that. The house wins over 50% of the time in black jack. Loan sharks get 25%. Boomer lent his money at 100%. I hope boomer takes care of carton's kids for the next 6 years. That is the least he can do.
True or false (let me know): not even talking about his charges. Craig was buying tickets for investors, at the standard rate and reselling them to the average Joe at a serious price increase? Please advise. I don't understand this ticket buying business that investors would be interested in.
