OK, Gang, here’s a GREAT Part 2 of 2 video of footage Matt Denning sent us on the progress of the Boomerang Down Under, which includes an interview with one of the original pilots who actually flew it during the War!
I think you'll find it as fascinating as I did!

Lyall, as an American, I just want to thank you for your service. We are all mates working together to defend our freedoms. Thank you to Matt and Kermit for allowing us to meet Lyall Ellers. A46-174 will fly again.

You know Kermit.... I haven't the slightest idea how you finance all these amazing restorations, but I thank you for doing so, on behalf of all of those to come who will be amazed to see these fantastic creations... and I thank the universe that you exist. :)

Matt, that pt 2, was even better than part 1, which was fabulous! Thank you for showing us the restoration work you did, and thanks to all who worked on 174. That was very interesting to see how and where, all the plumbing and wiring went and has given me a better understanding of an aircraft that I have never seen before That will go down in history as a true survivor and will be seen by hopefully, thousands of people at Kermit's museum. Especial thanks for letting us meet Lyall even though it was only virtually, To be able to say, you actually met one of the last people to fly her, is something to be very proud of. Thanks Kermit for buying this aircraft and saving her for posterity! from UK.

What a great video showing not only the ongoing restoration of 174, but the pilot who actually flew her in WWII! Thanks for keeping history alive! No way better than linking actual pilots, events and aircraft. I hope Lyall will be able to see 174 take to the air again after so many years. Thanks Kermit for making all this possible.

i have had the greatest pleasure of reaquainting pilots with their planes so i can really appreciate what this means to both yourself and Lyall, its really the icing on the cake, after all the hard work of restoration and its surprising how much it means to everyone, its nothing like cars, because of course you have the flying log book to prove it all, dated and with a small detail of the flight - i have had the pleasure of meeting some real great pilots too, that took part and flew the Harriers in the Transatlantic Air Race back in 1969, and a few other pilots of Harriers and a Phantom II, one of the pilots i knew flew two Harriers that now reside in south of Australia, the T2 actually tried to kill him at one point with an engine issue, but he fortunately restarted at just 100 feet but when these guys get in the cockpit, they are right back where they were, where they belong, one i left there for a few moments while he held back a few tears, there is something so powerful, so emotional and so provocative about a pilot and his machine my dear friend Mark passed away too early, of cancer, a Phantom pilot, who i will always remember, i am proud i made him happy and gave him back some fond memeries, cheers for the drinks too

I used to do aged care nursing for some years, and Lyall looks pretty switched on for his age. I think it's good that some old warbirds are being restored to flying condition again even though some may need extensive renovations due to their age. I sometimes watch the restoration vids of "Just Jane" WWII Lancaster Bomber in the UK which are interesting. I visited Temora Aviation Museum a few years back and got to see a Spitfire fly in real life which was pretty awesome. Hopefully I will get to see the Canberra Bomber fly on my next visit. 😀
