Decided to argue possibly one of the best pitches of the night. Hard to see in and out from dugout but can certainly tell this one was not the hilll to die on. Saw this before Jim's breakdown and this just confirmed my feelings from then. Additionally, the Yankees should never be in a position where they have to argue balls and strikes. Bush fukn league.

That is why Laz was so triggered by that comment. The fact was Boone was 100% correct on his performance that night. The truth hurts. That, and one of the few he got right was the call that set Boone off.

I’m so confused. Not a yankee fan at all but it seems wildly unprofessional for an ump to be going back and forth with the manage like this. Like how is that not crossing the line? If the ump wants to get mad and say “you’re wrong and annoying,” that’s one thing, but making personal retorts like this seems crazy.
@fromulus
@fromulus 9 месяцев назад
@@funkychilldudeto be getting personal in that way is pretty bad, but to be fair Boone wasn't saying he was having a bad game either, he said he was just bad, generally. Dias definitely pushed it further than most umps do though, but Boone was correct in his assessment. In a way, lance wasn't all that wrong either, aside from that game 7 alcs hr. I'm a Red Sox fan and can readily admit Boone achieved baseball immortality with that one.

And when Cashman is replaced with "anyone else" who then goes into a 4+ yr tanking rebuild and STILL the team sucks worse then right now, then should I blame YOU 🫵? No, of course not, because you will blame the new guy. And if it happens again and again and the Yankees don't make the playoffs for 8 years, you will still be bitching about firing everyone just like you're saying now. There is no GM better than Cashman right now. He doesn't get #1 overall draft picks like the teams do that you think have a better GM. No GM has more industry relationships than Cashman. Only dumb people demand Cashman be fired, because they lack any alternative solution and instead think they're smart for demanding everyone be fired who works for the Yankees when the Yankees perform terribly. That's just complete and utter stupidity. You can't take credit for such nonsense advice when you have zero accountability whatsoever.

@billbills7158
@billbills7158 9 месяцев назад
Absolutely! However, Boone doesn’t go all out. Showing up an umpire is getting 0 goals accomplished. His team had the bases loaded 3 times with less than 1 out in this game and scored 1 run in 9 innings. If he could use that same fire to show up his players than he might be getting somewhere but he won’t because he’s not a manager whatsoever.

Why is it weird? The coach is referencing the umps job performance, as far as I'm concerned it's fair game for the ump to dish it back. If you can't handle it don't go there. If the coach gets to act like a baby why can't the ump? I wish none of them did this but if we're gonna let one side do it then why not both.

@@dannymack1584 First off, the width of the strike zone is always exactly the same. For verticality, as the others said, they could measure each player to make it spot on. As it stands, the box is only used for telecasts, so there's not much emphasis placed on ensuring that it's perfectly precise at all times for each batter individually. But it wouldn't take a whole lot of extra effort to get it right if that were actually made the measure of balls & strikes.
