The order you have your pedals drastically effects how they work and your overall guitar tone. And of course the big question, Clean Boost into Overdrive? or Overdrive into Clean boost.
Pedals used:
Seymour Duncan 805: amzn.to/2sNyh8j
TC Electronic Mini Spark Boost: amzn.to/2uLtju7
Big Foot King Fuzz
Into my Hamstead Artist 20RT and 2x12 cab

....................................................................................................................
Mike has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old, and from that first moment his love affair with music and the instrument began. Fresh out of school at the age of 16 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and completed a year-long Diploma course.
After finishing the ACM his life as a full time musician began, playing in numerous bands and touring up and down the country playing iconic venues such asThe Shepherds Bush Empire, The Astoria, The Underworld and London’s Jazz Café. He’s also been fortunate enough to support industry legends Paul Weller, Blondie and Katie Melua.
Mike’s session work has led to his working on a variety of projects - from performing with stars such as Ricky Wilson and Diana Vickers, to appearing in many TV shows and adverts. Mike loves being on stage performing, but is equally at home recording in a studio - where he has worked with Alex Von Soos (All Saints, Seal, Atomic Kitten), Mike Horner (The Prodigy, Shakira, Bloc Party), and Mike Chapman (Blondie, Suzi Quatro).

15 minutes? Man, it's super simple: - Boost after dirt = volume jump (for solos etc.) - Boost before dirt = more drive from whatever comes after the boost (less volume jump if any) Btw: Not a good idea to have the tuner AFTER all the fx ; ) ...Nice playing tho!

Bad Guacamole Don’t worry, I do play loud and I have 4 nasty ass fuzz pedals on my board. There are simply better ways to mute your chain without sacrificing the ability to use your tuner correctly.

1.- Guitar+Booster+OverDrive/Distortion = Signal with more gain / No significant volume increasing. 2.- Guitar+OverDrive/Distortion+Boost= More Volumen/a little bit of extra gain. I always use the 2nd option if I'm switching between rhythm guitar and solo guitar.

I've gone from the o/d - clean boost to clean boost - o/d and it works much better for me. Better dynamics and more pleasing to the ear. Using this set up in conjunction with the guitar's volume knob, gives the most organic results (especially on single coil equipped guitars)

Since I use significantly more gain on my overdrive - Boss OD-2 (Turbo off) than used here (for rhythm and riffs) I find boost in front just messes the sound up - too compressed and lacking in dynamics. I use a clean-ish setting on My Rat 2, a bit of gain/distortion - not too much or it's too mushy, and volume to suit - gives me a nicer lead sound. The Rat takes the signal from the Boss way better than the other way 'round.

Did you find one way or the other noisier? I am loving the 345. Wow. what a nice guitar. Does it go into feed back? Ted Nugent ;) I normally don't like fuzzes at all, but that king fuzz sounds great. Not too fizzy. Maybe the way you have it setup or something. The way sounds outstanding too!!!! I am going to get an optical Morley with the boost built in. Wahs I've used in the past always seem to have a volume drop when I kicked them on. Plus it's so hard to tell if you have it turned off with the wahs with the potentiometer. Not so with the optical wah. ;)

Mike really interesting vid, would you say that the sparkl boost acts as a low drive, i.e. like a blues rhythm tone perhaps, or would you say a different tone really? I have a spark boost, find it exactly like you, after the drives it really shouts out, even with very little turned on! Keep up the good work pal

Perhaps try an eq pedal with the angry Charlie or indeed any o/d pedals just to add some top end sweetness and tame the mid range a bit, it really is a secret weapon on nearly any board and a good one can work as an extra boost my preference is a good parametric eq but graphic pedals are also great 🧐🤘😎

I have the same boost pedal. I am using it in front of my amp. I tried to use it after the od pedal and the sound was horrible, it was very harsh. I tried to use it before the od pedal and it was an improvement. When I am on the amp's clean channel there is a big volume jump in both occasions (before and after the Od). The thing that confuses me a bit is that when I am on the OD channel of my amp and I turn on the boost there isn't any big difference in the sound. I was hoping a boost for solos etc but the difference is very subtle. No comparison to the volume jump on the clean channel. :-/ Any thoughts??

When I have a dirty amp in combination with a tube screamer or a ds-1, the mini clean boost does not increase the volume for me... I have tried EVERY combination humanly possible with my pedal board.... even tried just plugging my guitar straight in to the tube screamer and mini boost and same issue... no volume boost, just a whole bunch of noise! What the hell... any ideas? All is fine when I'm just boosting a distortion pedal on the clean amp channel... just not in combination with a dirty amp and overdrive.
@MikeBradleyofficial

If your amp is already dirty, it's not really going to boost the volume, it will just add more gain. Try setting your amp more cleaner.

I use a KOKKO too as my always on pedal and I love it. Recently I've been wondering about a Caline Pegasus or a Soul Food but seeing how most people use them as clean boosts I'm wondering if there is any point in having both. I'm already DOING clean boost with that KOKKO which has treble and bass controls. I'm afraid of having the same volume level jumps that Mike Bradley. I was more hoping a KLON clone would would have IT'S OWN VOICE which SOUNDED like an amp on the edge of breakup brilliantly. The more I read the more I'm thinking that it gets most props from the fact that it simply boosts the pre amp tubes, and that's not the same thing at all. Perhaps I don't need anything else other than the KOKKO?
