Because Boost Mobile is not GSM they are CDMA they do not operate that way do the research and you will find that you cannot just put the SIM card in the phone and be done with it like t-mobile and AT&T. Tech Majesty is a good phone service that will unlock your phone if you don't want to wait the full year with Boost Mobile for them to unlock your phone for free

My family has been with Boost mobile for several years. I recently wanted to get two (totally paid for) phones unlocked and they refused because those phones have not been in use for at least 12 months. The plan was to buy two more pho es and activate the old ones for my grandkids. Should be no reason to not allow phones that customer owns to be unlocked! Now leaving boost after many years. I'm done with them and their shoddy customer service.

I would not call it being upfront when they lock a phone that doesn't belong to them that was not purchased on a plan or discount purchased retail. Activated in a store that shut down shortly after.

From what I've read....they put stipulations in that they can keep a phone bought through them for up to a year... (Boostmobile)...or until the phone is paid for. Really sucks ass.

@@terryblagowsky9741 I bought a phone from an individual and thought nothing if it being locked ( considering it IS illegal for boost to NOT unlock their phones) called them up and was told that I needed to pay off the remaining months that the previous owner hadn't paid- I said are you out of your mind- no one is going to do that today tomorrow or next year- it's simply stupid! There's too many carriers. Went across the street - now have T-Mobile! Where do these people get these policies- my God...,

I bought my Samsung 7 refine from fingerhut with Boost mobile service but when I asked them to unlock it they said I had to ask Samsung and visa versa. What can I do in this situation? I've had this phone for 2yrs

I noticed after a software update on my S10+ that I have VoLTE setting in data hidden menu and it didn't show up before. Now I wasn't able to actually activate it when switching it to enable from disable, but its maybe a hint that the feature may be available in the near future.

I still had to trust the apple unlocking process and reactivation process, so glad it worked for my iPhone 12 pro.

I unlock my phone from carrier but every time try to go to get my phone switch over they keep telling my phone is still lock but on my phone it say sim locked to carrier lock how can I fix this?

I bought a phone cash upfront had it shipped. Realized it’s locked and I am returning for a refund. I will go to back market or Apple directly for unlocked phone. It’s insane they do that when you purchase with cash.

I really feel as if my phone is being held hostage. Crazy thing is the carrier I want to switch to still uses the T-Mobile towers. There's literally no reason why I can't unlock my phone. I only have about three or so months left out of the 12. It's ridiculous

The number you provided doesn't have an option for unlocking, it only has options for your current mobile plan and troubleshooting, PLEASE HELP!!!

It’s really absurd that you buy a cell phone at full price not a lease through your carrier and can’t change services as just putting another SIM card to use that carrier. At this point, I got fed up and reported this to the FCC a while ago. Just got a callback today and didn't answer the unknown number. What should I tell them, it was Boost Mobile Corporate on the line too.

Curly73 nothing will happen to boost they have been bought by Dish and they will have the same next work with sprint/T-Mobile for the next 7 years till dish has there own network 👍 as for virgin idk but boost will be fine.

@@KingOfTechDeals Boostmobile is CDMA so these phones will not work in the New Tmobile GSM network. Boostmobile customers will end up needing a new phone to be compatible with the New Network since Dish will be using Tmobile.

I cant get out of the setup screen either with a brand new boost mobile phone. "Do you want to connect this device to an account for network service?" If you select "no" it just goes back to selecting a wi-fi connection and you're stuck in an endless loop, I just want to use my $80 worthless new phone and I cant even get out of the setup process to the home screen!

@@lonniebeal6032 itz cuz they use "normal ways" an S9 is sure to unlock with an unlock box, I believe the octoplus box is the one for samsung, if not, there's some others... but it can be done, my previous boss unlocked several from boost and sprint,,, obiously for a certain price...
