I FIND ALL YOUR VIDEOS HAVE HELPED ME TO BETTER UNDERSTAND WHAT MY PT IS ASKING OF ME DURING OUR SESSIONS. WE DON'T WASTE PRECIOUS TIME GOING OVER THE SAME INSTRUCTIONS BECAUSE I HAVE THE MEMORY OF YOUR VIDEOS TO REFER TO. I HAVE SOME SERIOUS 'LEFT NEGLECT' POST STROKE ISSUES AND AM NOW LEARNING HOW TO USE A HEMI WALKER. MY PT COMPLIMENTS MY PROGRESS WHICH I ATTRIBUTE, IN PART, TO HAVING WATCHED YOUR VIDEOS. THANK YOU. WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET TO THE WALKING WITH THE HEMI SOONER, I THINK, BECAUSE THEY (THE VIDEOS) GAVE ME MORE TIME TO SPEND ON IMPROVING MY ABILITY TO BALANCE. AGAIN, THANK YOU. FYI THE 'CAPS' ALLOW ME TO BETTER SEE WHAT I AM WRITING. I AM NOT 'YELLING' OKAY. I AM ACTUALLY SMILING MORE. ;) AND CANNOT WAIT TO GET BACK TO PRACTICING MORE.

Reali helpful. My left leg is my weaker and my right leg is spastic. In such scenario I shud use the 1st pattern right, but I am quite stubborn still i like to maintain my natural walking pattern which often cost me trouble. Another thing I prone to fell backward, already fell twice. My PT advice me to use one step at a time like u shown in the 1st pattern and lean a bit forward everytime. What wud be ur best advice?

Azah, thank you for your comment and for sharing your situation. Our best advise is to stay with the advise that your PT has given you. Their care plan is tailored specifically to meet your needs. ✌🏻❤️ AECorner.com

I have a severe SI joint problem and walking can be extremely difficult, and I have been seriously thinking of purchasing a walker for myself. Would a two wheeled walker or a standard walker be better for me, or would it matter much at all? I just need something to hold onto with both hands for really good stability as I take each step for balance, and to not sway. Also, are these walkers okay for indoor and outdoor use? Thank-you.

Jennifer, thank you for your question. I would recommend a 2 wheeled walker over the standard walker. You won’t have to pick the 2 wheeled walker up to advance it as you do with a standard walker, which could aggravate your situation further. The 2 wheeled walker will also allow a more fluid walking pattern. The 2 wheeled walker can be used inside and out, though not as easy outside, especially on gravel. You may also want to take a look at the “how to use a rollator walker video” which might be another option for you. It will roll easier, especially outside. Just know that in rolling easier, it will move quicker. I would recommend going to a medical supply store or pharmacy that carries these in your area to try out both types. Have a great day. Second stroke How do you get the walker up and down the stairs?
@AECorner
@AECorner 5 лет назад
Thanks for your question Edward. We have not addressed this in a video yet, but certainly will. I am putting a link for you to view. This is currently how people are being taught when leaving the hospital. It is an option, though of course you always need to use caution. It doesn’t work for everyone depending on their circumstances and doesn’t always work depending on the width of the stairs. I have also instructed clients on folding their walker and using is as a “cane”. I would recommend seeking instruction from a local physical therapist as well to address your specific situation. Here’s the link. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q9bfjpJ2JXk.html Hope it is helpful. ✌🏻❤️ AECorner.com
