Nicely done Paul. An easy mid week shave with "common" products available to you. Looked like everything worked out for the best. Beautiful arrangement this morning, thanks Mrs H. Great video again. Enjoy!

Thank you, Paul. Great shave. The Boots razor does the job so well it makes you wonder, why pay more? Then again, it's nice to have a good-looking razor and one that feels quality made. The geraniums were lovely. When I lived with my parents (many years ago) we would grow them in a little greenhouse in the back garden.

Nice shave, I have the Gillette 7 o'clock and it's one of my favourite razors when I want a nice easy shave. I use a feather in mine shaves great with no issues at all with nice shaves. I enjoy the lightness of the razor which makes it very conducive to a light touch. Always enjoy your channel keep safe and keep shaving.

Luckily you never stop learning. Goes for a lot of things and wet shaving too. There are always things you haven’t thought of, haven’t tried yet or might help paying some extra attention too. Specially the routine things, you tend to sometimes slip in bad ‘behaviour’. So keep the tips and tricks coming, thats also part of why I keep watching your videos :)

Hi Paul- Great mid-week shave; thank you, as always! The Nivea shave cream looked quite nice and the razor did a great job, as well! Enjoy the rest of the week and see you for the Sunday shave! All the best!

Geranium's my wife's preferred flower... we've tried to plant them here in Singapore, imported seeds fm Japan/German/US, but in vain. Out of 10 seeds 2 survive, but grow difficult, only 1 has fully grown ovr 3yrs, but died recently as well. Apparently geraniums not meant for here, though Susan was happy to see yr arrangement just now. Cheers.

I had a Boots razor about 25 years ago and hadn't a clue how to use it or produce a lather from the puck of Boots soap and having really poor shaves with lots of cuts and nicks. I ended up throwing it out and going back to Gillette Blue 2 disposables ( oh the horror) . If only there had been RU-vid and Paul H Films in those days I might have found out how to shave with the bloody thing !

Neill. Bought one myself on a whim, about 15 years ago. I shoved on the canned foam rubbish, and scraped my face to pieces, then binned the razor. I think the secret is to use a shaving brush, decent soap or cream, and lather thoroughly, really paste it on. I've got a Lord 5, which is a similar razor, I have perfect shaves with it. Paul spends an age lathering, that's the secret, with any razor.

Another wonderful and inexpensive shave... I can relate to that. Cheap razors or expensive you make the shave look so easy. I'm pretty sure you could manage a good shave using a kitchen paring knife. Love the Nivea products. Have a great week and take care.

Very smooth, clean, seemingly effortless shave, Paul. Especially, the ease with which you make short shrift of going against the growth on your chin is exceptional. Thanks to for the humor: the bit about "therapy" and two or three other comical comments had me, and I'm sure most of the "audience," laugh out loud. It was nice to hear you express your support and/or appreciation for "Steve from Suffolk," too. You're a team player, Paul. Very nice role model, eh. Thank you. (No need to get back to me.)

Hey Paul, I ordered a few of these (Gillette 7 O'clock 'Sterling') razors on Ebay from an Indian seller a couple of weeks back and just finished shaving with it. It looks a little more like 'Tech' design with the blade locator tabs in each corner and a diamond plate. ( I think I spied a couple of centre-line blade locator lugs on yours ..I could be mistaken) Apart from that, it is just as yours is. I loaded it with a nacet (my go-to blade), made a big safe lather with Elvado shaving cream (Tahitian Lime ...lovely!) and had at it. Mate, I have to say, for an 80 Rupee razor, it gave me a really good super close shave (even the 1st pass was pretty close) with no irritation to speak of. Despite it appearance, this is a very efficient razor and I think is now worthy of being one of my travel razors. It packs more of a punch than your standard early 'Tech'.

Paul there is a difference between the boots and Gillette 7'o clock razor, the Gillette razor does not have the 2 metal things that apear on both sides of the boots razor that come down from the top to the bottom head and a few other design differences, I have the Gillette razor and even the head is slightly different.

I really like Nivea shaving cream - I just used the sensitive version on my last shave. In all honesty it's a bargain. The shaving cream is still made in Germany but the aftershave balms sold here (in Canada) have shifted their manufacturing base from Germany to Mexico.

Thanks for the update on Stephen. I hope he will comeback once in a while. Nivea cream is nice but not too long ago, I rediscovered the Italian Noxema shaving cream. Really nice cream that performs very well and has a bay rum smell to collect Conk bay rum.

Hi Paul, Great video been watching you for awhile and I have been inspired to start wet shaving. I am on my fourth wet shave and love it! I still get a bit apprehensive about the corners of the blade cutting me. Not the over hang but the corners, is this something to truly worry about? Also I have been using Barbasol as I haven’t been able to create a lather from soap yet. Anyone have any recommendations for soaps that create an easy lather? I have the brush you are using in this video and find it scratchy. Will this go away with use? I am visiting England at the end of this month and will definitely pick up some Palmolive! Btw I tried Nivea post shaving balm and love it. Thank you for the videos and hours of entertainment. -Jay

Jay Kuruc Hi Jay! I'm obviously not Paul but I'll give you my input as well. I've been wet shaving for about a year now. For an easy to lather soap, I recommend Proraso. That stuff is super easy to lather up and it lasts! If you want something from an artisan, check out Barrister and Mann. Their Reserve line of soap is some of the best made. I recommend the lavender. Also, you shouldn't have to worry about the corners of the blade cutting you. That has never happened to me that I know of, so hopefully it won't be a problem for you! Good luck, and welcome to the hobby! - Jeff

Hi Jay, it is good to be mindful of your razor, but don't worry too much about it, just go gently and it should be fine...in regards to the brush, try making lathers up between shaves, that helps "run it in" if you find it scratchy, also you can wash it in hair conditioner....which will soften it up too.....all the best and thanks.

The 7 O'Clock razor head is also identical in shape to a mid-1960's Gillette Tech, and, for me, it shaves just like a Tech. If one has a nice spare handle, this razor is a way to get a Tech on the cheap. BTW, I'm glad that at least someone agrees with me that the Tech, although on the mild side, does have some bite to it (e.g. compared to a Super Speed). Best wishes.

I found a Pure Badger Omega at a reasonable price locally. I always thought it would be scratchy so I avoided it. I love Omega Boar Brushes and tried some Finest grade Chinese brushes with good results. So you say these pure badger brushes could be good too? Some say they aren't as scratchy as some others.

I always find the pure badger brushes are nice and soft, if you like the omega boar, you should like this too....and with use it gets softer.....some brands can feel scratchy, but not found it with omega foe me anyway.....hope this helps thanks

Nivea shaving cream is used by grandfathers in Germany and Spain, Arabic writing indicates it is sold in most Arab countries should be easier to find in almost anywhere, since it is not normally available in the UK.

Happy Wednesday Paul! The flowers are lovely. The Captain's Choice lather bowl (original size) is very nice. I would recommend it to anyone. It hold the cream or soft soaps very well and helps produce a great lather. The razor seems to have a Gillette Tech like head...you said those are not longer available? Pity. I might have bought one in my upcoming trip to the UK (which all the transportation reservations have been made). I do plan on buying a stock of Palmolive shaving soap plus a few higher end shave soaps. Would love to make that Shaving Shop tour of London...just like your video. I have some nice badger and boar brushes, but after receiving two very nice synthetics...I am finding I have stopped using the boar and badger. Paul, your method for under the nostril shaving is an excellent tip. I use it...with a personal modification. I stretch the upper lip sideways to make the skin taut. Just works better for me. You always inspire me to up my shave game. Working through some vintage and modern blades to find that great ones. I am super surprised by some of them...longevity of some, both short and long, who would have thought? Thanks for sharing and take care.

If you're looking for this razor, search for the Gillette 7 O'Clock Stirling in the blue package. There are other Gillette 7 O'Clock razors out there that are all plastic. I got mine on E-Bay for about five dollars.
