Great shave as always Ken. Here in Missouri it's a heat wave of -12 degrees with winds and no rain. You brought back some good ol memories of the Gillette atra lol. I had the atra, the atra plus then the Gillette senor and mach 3 series before going to DE wet shaving. Hope you and your family have a very happy and safe new year. I'll see you on your next video! 2017 was certainly a good year for me Ken as I retired at the end of November and now spending a lot of time at the golf course! Happy New Year.

Ok, so I meant to comment on one of your videos for a while now but I never did. But now I just have to. Well, first of all: I could listen to you for EVER! Your content is great and always applicable and interesting .And second (which is kind of already said by that first point I made): You, Sir, are just generally someone that a guy would want to listen to. The stories you told about your times in school and the attitude you seem to have towards that time are just wonderful! It makes me kind of think of you as a guy that, in general, just has a great attitude towards life, which seems to shine through as well, whenever you talk about your job or your family. Additionally, one can not only learn a lot about a whole bunch of different shaving products from you, but one can also witness, by watching you, a down to earth and sensible way to use said products in your daily routine. And on top of all that, I can see an Englishman (? - if I am right with that assumption), and therefore a European, who's living in the States and kind of fell in love with that country (which I, as a German, who is also greatly fascinated by the U.S.A an North America in general, can appreciate a lot) and someone who tries out shaving creams and razors, which I can find in the supermarket around my corner and gives very informed and honest opinions about them. I am, though being involved for a little while now, still kind of a novice to whet shaving (especially regarding my grandfathers straight razor that I shave with now) and I can definitely say, that your channel is one of the most enjoyable ones I have subscribed to in a long time. Thank you, Kensurfs! :-) PS: That being said, it would be great if, somewhere down the road, there would be some Kensurfs-videos about straight razor shaving. I think I remember you saying in one of your videos, that you are still a novice to that yourself, though I do not know how old that video might be. But if you ever decide to do straight razor-videos, I would very much appreciate it. And even if you'll never do them: just keep on doing what you're doing already! Great work! @Kensurfs i got the cooling shave balm. haven't used it yet. still have a half bottle of the non-cooling shave balm to get through first.

Great shave Ken. I really don't have any good memories of college or highschool to be honest about it. Hard to believe that it's been 40 years since Gillette had the Atra razor. I was a baby when that one you used was made. Now I'm silver headed. Can't wait to see the comparison video and Happy New Year if we don't see another shave video.

Now i got it , that how to shave on a right way. I am using Gillete double blade sensors. Before i was using Mach 3 turbo , that create pimples on my skin, Now i feel so comfortable on double sensors, I used Denim Black After shave .

Hey Ken, I was one of the contest winners and I received the brush yesterday and used it today and it's a great brush. A 1000 thank you's! For a soap I suggest you try Fendrihan lavender and sandalwood. It's the best sandalwood scent I've come across and the performance is top notch. Plus it's out of Canada so it'll be cheap for you.

With how course my hair is I need a Second pass with the Cart lol. mostly to do with my neck, all different directions lol. Nice Video again, getting the perspective of a DE shaver using a cart is great.

As far as I understand, it is better to use the aftershave splash first (the one that burns) and only then, after about 3-5 minutes apply the balm. I took heed to this advice from some shaving video on RU-vid that I saw about a month ago and the results are better. Your skin burns less and the soothing effect is complemented by the cool sensation of the aftershave splash. Happy New Year Ken, for you and yours!

Love my Atra. Blades still available from Gillette. But, I also use the Personna carts. 100 for $13 on eBay. They also fit the Trac II.

I wouldn't use a mentholated soap/cream right now because of the treacherously cold weather afflicting the Midwest where I live. I absolutely love the Polo Blue, and it's quickly becoming my favorite

hi matey - nivea , really like their products - it takes years off my crows feet :) - just bought these two - Taylor of Old Bond Street No74 Victorian Lime Fragrance - Taylor of Old Bond Street St James Collection Luxury Fragrance - both very good ... itll probably cost for you guys stateside ... worth investigating ... st james smells of freshly clean washing machine fragrance - its lasts a good 8 hours ... the 74 ... debatable - ill have to use it alittle before my final verdict . - take it easy fella .

Hi Ken, I've been off for two weeks too for xmas vacation. I know what you mean by staying up late alot watching tv. I've noticed lately the shave videos here have been less frequent. Do you have a theory on it? I still use a good cartridge from time to time as a change of pace. Using a brush and soap makes all the difference

Ken, what about the smell of the Nivea cream? To me the more mainstream aquatic scent is ok, but the old cream of Nivea was way better. It smelled very special, like a fresh jump into the cold ocean=).
