Another FABULOUS video!!!! Thank you so much. I learn so much from you. I want to join your booth owners group so bad! But I am just starting out and money is tight...these " freebies"" are so enlightening and helpful! You don't know how much I appreciate them! I am in a " flea market" ( booth inside of a building where we are only open 3 days , weekends, type venue at present...which is not a good fit for me. My items are more upscale and I have found myself lowering my prices just to keep in step with the other vendors! So I am barely making rent. The other vendors are purchasing storage units and putting their items up for pennies on the dollar. I can't do that. I repair, paint, reconstruct and repurpose items. Anyway that said...I am looking for a new venue, meanwhile holding on by my fingertips! That's why I appreciate your videos so much! They offer me the strength and commitment to hang on, press forward. I'm " doing" what I LOVE, just in the wrong place. I have learned a lot and met so many nice people witch is all a plus and a part of the learning curve and getting my name out there is starting to pay off a little bit ( I started in Sept 23) and I'm getting return customers, so that's all good. Anyway I just wanted you to know how much you mean to us " new" booth owners! You are doing a wonderful service for us! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Q: how do you determine the COGS for curb side freebies, the paint cost, mileage, new hardware?

Most of my mileage is local...so I don't figure that it. I do keep track of my time on a piece and what I put into it...paint...hardware...then I make sure to get 3-5X for the piece. Usually my price from that is SO low that I get even more profit. Remember I keep a lot of salvage like hardware...so I usually only pay for products used and my time. I evaluate that when picking. Hope that helps!

My two cents - when looking for a place don’t be desperate and take the first thing that comes up. I almost signed at a small place and I decided to mystery shop her store a week before our meeting. It was during Covid so she didn’t recognize me with my mask on. When I walked in she didn’t acknowledge me or barely look up from the counter. The store was dirty I wasn’t impressed by her customer service. When she later showed me where my booth would be I looked up at the ceiling and noticed a huge water stain and that a lot of the ceiling was coming down from the water - and it would have been in the middle of my booth! Hard pass. I waited and got where I am now. I thought kitchen stuff would go over well, but after two years have learned that it doesn’t. So I am putting it all on sale to get rid of it and I don’t buy it anymore. Some things you just learn by trying it! Happy New Year!❤

One question about marketplace. I’ve sold items in my booth on Marketplace and the most difficult thing about it is when they ask if it’s still available and I’m actually not sure because someone may have purchased it during the day and I don’t know it already sold. If I say yes …and they go there and it’s already sold… that may affect the way they feel about purchasing from me again. Any suggestions?

In one of the malls I’m in there are over 300 vendors. I’m not sure the cashiers would be willing to walk to my booths to check and see ( we have 6 spaces there) especially if the store is busy.

You can put in your listing that availability is updated daily. I get a daily printout. This has not been an issue because I also stress that I do not hold pieces.
