I still have the SECOND item you picked up. When I was little - I'm 75 now- we made apple pies in that over the flame on the stovetop. You butter two pieces of bread, put in applesauce or apples cut up or pie filling, close it and it will automatically cut off the corners of the bread and join the two pieces together. You flip it over again to the other side to brown that side. I ate tons of those as a kid.

Please take the Chinese "tin" container and the lacquerware to someone who knows about these. I notice a hallmark on the "tin." The Chinese did not hallmark junk. Some of those items with the right craftsman hallmark can make them very valuable. I have two small Chinese sterling bowls of the same quality. One is worth $200 and the other $500 all because one was well known and respected, though to my eyes they are of the same quality. Additionally, my stepmother sold a small lacquerware bowl that her father brought back from WWII. She only wanted a few dollars for it to get enough offset the price of a meal at a restaurant. The buyer collected Japanese lacquerware and insisted that she take $125, because it was worth between $250-$300 retail.

What is written in the coffee pot is in french - first sentence is : petite cafetière eau - small coffe pot water (I suppose it's the upper part of the coffee pot) - 2nd one is : mesure café 1 - one mesure of coffee - last sentence : the first word is partly erased, the second is sel - salt. Nice treasure trove - a lot of her linnens and crochet things are probably worn or yellow because they are old but if you clean them, they still could sell :) Best wishes from France.

@vanessabrown9564
@vanessabrown9564 Месяц назад
Dibber is right, for making hole in soil to plant a seed or seedling. The other thing is a toasted sandwich maker. Butter two slices of bread, put in butter side out and you can add your filling, cheese, tomato etc. close up and it cuts to the perfect round shape. Put on a gas or electric stove to cook, turning every few minutes. We used to gave one in the 60’s in the UK. Brings back memories…….

You know in Florida every tool is going to rust, but they still work the same. I grew up on a farm and none of the spider/bug/mouse evidence fazed me in the least. I get that it's your place and you need to get a move on but what an amazing archive you have available to you to tell her story and make your own. Those curtain rod ends are not missing the middle, they swing in/out from the sides Best
@willystanford
@willystanford 8 дней назад
That metal utensil you did not recognise is what we call a jaffle iron. You put two pieces of (stale) bread with butter side out on each circle, put a few spoons of the filling of your choice on one side and close. Cut off the excess bread. Fillings can be savoury eg leftover stew or cooked veg, baked beans, bacon and egg, ham cheese and tomato, or sweet eg stewed apple or other fruit.There should be a mechanism for clipping the two sides together. The jaffle can be cooked a couple of minutes either side on a gas flame or over a firepit, campfire or BBQ. Turn out onto a plate to serve as is or with topping of your choice. Be wary when taking that first bite as the innards will be very hot. Jaffles make a great quick lunch on a cold day. Ate a few on washday when I was a kid. I still have my square jaffle iron, mainly used more recently when grandkids came to stay.

The metal curtain rods don't usually have a rod between them but rather were for French doors or a large single door where they swing to the side. Find the piece that they fit in to swing out. It's Deco style 1900-1920

Ooooo - what an adventure! Even though it's work, it would still be fun to sort through everything left behind; uncover hidden treasures and the owner's story. Suggestion - I would make a scrapbook of articles, photos and related paperwork of the owner. Maybe also a shadow box frame to display a few nice keepsakes. I'd also find a really cool box she left behind to keep momentos, small treasures and other items that were precious to her - The Legacy Casa Marie Box! It's really cool to learn about her from her belongings and treasures. She loved her dogs, from the clothing, possibly owned something from Tiffany's, from the box, her story is starting to unfold - how exciting! The lavender flower china is pretty. You'll be able to have a pretty interesting Estate Sale once the house is all sorted out. The last trunk was super cool, love the old paperwork. I'd for sure frame the maps and a photo of her for somewhere inside.

To use the coffee pot put ground coffee in the center section. Boil water and pour into the top section. It will drip through into the bottom section. The green probe is a dibble. You use it to plant bulbs. The round thing with handles is a toast press. You put a slice of bread on each side, fill with cheese, jam, ham, pie filling or whatever you like. Close it together and trim off what hangs out, then hold it over a gas stove flame or campfire until the bread is toasted and the filling is hot. It will seal the edges so you have a little sweet or savory hand pie.

Love the coffeepot, had a smaller version. Those tools can be cleaned, check youtube vids & those asian boxes if they are copper they can be cleaned too. I'd love the big pitcher & matching bowl.

Green odd object is a dibble. To create holes for seeds or seedlings. The second thing is a Pudgie Pie Maker. Campfire baked “pie” maker. Buttered bread, add filling (fruit, cheese, hot sandwich ingredients. Top with another buttered bread. Close unit together. Clip to hold shut. Place in coals. Watch to not burn.

There are good tools and plenty of interesting things. Take the doilies to a craft or consignment shop. Someone will find them useful. Also try a garage sale.

Round tool with long handle is a type of grilled sandwich maker. You put two pieces of bread with pie filling or apple sauce or cheese between the bread pieces. You can use it over a fire or on a stove top.

I think the tool you weren't sure about is used to plant bulbs. I'm not totally positive, but thats what it looks like. So much fun to go through all the old stuff.

Pretty sure you’re right! We’ve had a few other people comment on that, and they let us know it’s called a dibber.
