Love this one. Recently learned there's a hard-to-find mini expansion (orange god tiles) that's easy enough to implement with some spare tokens. Helps mitigate those instances where you roll doubles or triples--something I've had happen a few times.
People who call Stefan Feld games "point salad" don't understand that it's a bit of a joke, an illusion. When everyone gets points for EVERYTHING, no one is actually getting any points, for anything. Because all that matters is your relative position to other players, not the number of points. Stefan Feld games are actually engine building games and the "point salad" aspect helps disguise that and distracts players who aren't familiar with the strategic elements of the particular game. In Burgundy it's the player who builds early mines, or a worker/tech engine that gets ahead, not the guy getting the animals who soars in early points. In trajan you have to get those 1-level tiles that give you the discount when feeding people. And in Bora Bora you need to build a man/woman engine to gain maximum advantage of the extra actions. So yes, there are points everywhere but without strategic planning they're just a fancy way of losing.
There is a thread on the Bora Bora BGG page that links to a post where Stefan Feld more or less confirms that Bora Bora will be given a Peruvian retheme as part of the Queen Games City Collection
@@ChairmanoftheBoard It will be expensive & only available via crowd funding or the Queen Games store due to, allegedly, no UK distributor for Queen Games
Probably Feld’s finest design. I absolutely adore this game. The player interaction is quite high, and although the dice results may feel restricting, there are cards that can be used to mitigate the results or ignore these restrictions. So many interesting choices each turn also. ❤️
At first I liked the game but found it too restricted. Not only with the dice but also felt like my end of the round goals dictated my moves and if I couldn't accomplish them and others did then I would lose the game. Towards the later rounds tiles it was easier to get tiles that u already fulfilled so it did get easier but overall I didn't care much for the game.
