There's no chance there would be any political arguments and vitriol in the comments of this video right? 100% everyone will just be calm, reasonable and pleasant to each other... right? right??
It was Sacha Baron Cohen himself who was waiting on standby to jump in immediately if Giuliani started to go at all into wrong territory. That's why he jumped in when he did instead of letting it play further. He was very protective of the actress.
Only nice, 'specful comments. Appreciate your commentary on exposing the vagine's attempt to trick the Hero Rudy. Sacha was so touched by the babysitter's kindness in this movie that he ended up donating $100k to a gofundme that she had set up after losing her job in the pandemic, stating, "She is one of the most authentic people I've ever met. Please consider giving a contribution to simply to say thank you to Jeanise for being 'a moral compass and a light shining in darkness' in this movie."
Sacha Baron Cohen said later that the old lady in the synagogue was so sweet he had to do something he'd never done before: go back and tell her who he really was and they were filming a parody
He also did a series for HBO called "Who is America?" that's almost as good as some of the character parts here. It's all political stuff but he gets people to do the craziest stuff ever in that show.
The singing at the rally thing got out of hand, people came to protest the rally and recognized sacha which led to the people at the rally realizing they where being pranked and turning violent. Ended up with them having to escape in an ambulance with sacha holding the door shut to prevent the people breaking in >
This was Maria Bakalova's (Tutar) fifth film and she received an Oscar nomination for it. Currently she's only been acting for six years and three of those were during a pandemic. A lot of folks figure she'll be a star based on this performance, just gotta find the right projects.
The Country Steve bit actually ended in a pretty terrifying way. Someone in the crowd recognized Sasha and when word got around the angry crowd tried to storm the stage. He even had to barricade himself in his trailer while they tried to break in. You can find the footage online.
I'm amazed that you didn't hear about the Giuliani bit. We all had the same reaction as you and there definitely was a big outrage around it. What a movie
Kazakhstan was a bit offended by the original movie and banned it...at first. Then they embraced it: in 2020, the nation's tourism board adopted a new slogan, "Kazakhstan: Very Nice!". 😂
Since I live in Oklahoma, I know all about Jeansie Jones' story since she lives in OKC (the babysitter of the daughter). I remember a story about her on my local news during the time of this movie's release. She was so loved during the movie that people started a crowdfunding campaign and they raised $100,000 dollars for her. Sacha Baron Cohen heard about her troubles and called her to donate another $100,000 dollars. She used it to help get her community back in shape. This was around the time we got hit by a big ice storm and other things. She used it for community members, a church and more. Finna just mean "I'm going to" or "I'm fixing to" "I'm about to"
Rudy giving a real speech somewhere: "...I never partied with Prince Andrew, never, never, never... except that one time. "Points to someone nearby "you were there, you remember."
@@sdaniels160 she was adjusting his mic while he was laying down, and it pulled his shirt out from his very loose fitting old man pants. It does not at all look like his zipper is undone
Sacha spent 5 days with Jerry and Jim out in that forest hut. They are not actors and were not in on the joke at all, Sacha stayed in character for their entire time together. In fact, he stayed in character for most of the recording, which took nearly a year. The only time he publically broke character was to go back to the synagogue right after filming to let Judith know it was all a joke and explained the film to her. This was brought up later in a lawsuit against the film crew by Judith's family, who wanted to sue them for defamation after Judith passed away.
The guy offering $500 for the "daugther" infront of what I assume to be his daugther has always been an insane moment to me. What kinda wild ass gathering did they manage to getting access to?
Debutante balls used to be super common in the South. Less so these days. "A debutante ball, sometimes called a coming-out party, is a formal ball that includes presenting debutantes (aka rich kids) as adults entering society." So yeah, creepy.
The debutant ball was set up by the production team. They claimed that they were filming a coming-of-age story and had asked locals to participate in the shoot as extras. The extras were paid $100 per person to dress up and attend the ball So it is a setup that looks like a real debutant ball and the reaction and interaction we see with the people is in all likelihood not scripted but genuine reactions. The majority of the interaction with real people had to be set up and the crew said they were filming something else. There is simply no way to get the cameras in there and film it like this. That way they also got releases of people and could show their faces. The scene with Mike Pence a CPAC, when Borat sang, street shots, etc could be done with though telling the people they made a movie because that is a situation where it is not uncommon for there to be a camera. That is also why they blur some faces. I think the idea is the situation can be set up and it is the real reaction of the people there to outrageous statements and situations that they what to capture.
"Finna" is slang which means "Fixing to" which is another way of saying "Going to" so when the lady says she "Finna get his ball and chain" she means that she is going to get his ball and chain.
And to specify, it's more of a southern slang term. Think of Jethro or Jed on "The Beverly Hillbillies". Another example: "I'm finna go to Walmart and pick up some Twinkies".
Maria Bakalova (Tutar) did such a great job that she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The movie was nominated for Best Adapted Screen Play.
The part where tuta went into the hall with all the women after the baby sitter dropped her off borat was supposed to be there HOWEVER one of the women in the hall was in the first movie already when borat said "I couldn't understand what this old man was saying" so he didn't want to be found out and sent her in alone.
It was surprising this movie had such heart to it. The actress for his daughter was great. (She was also the voice of Cosmo the dog in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.)
I don’t think you guys understood the “clinic” scene after she swallowed the cupcake baby. That guy wasn’t a doctor he was a pastor. Those places are disguised as planned parenthood’s but they believe abortion should always be illegal, even in cases of rape or incest. That’s why the guys reaction was so funny when Borat told him he was her father.
Sacha did another bit with Borat, but it was only a short tv series (6 episodes) called "Debunking Borat", and it concentrated on his time staying with Jim and Jerry. The series sets about debunking the conspiracies that were mentioned in that section of the film. Sacha actually stayed with Jim and Jerry the whole five days... *in character*.
The actress wasnt in anything major before the movie, Sacha Baron Cohen wanted someone with little coverage so there was less chance of her being recognised. I think shes from Bulgaria, so like Borat speak in hebrew, she speaks in her nayive tongue. I dont know if shes been in anything major since then
the actress for borats daughter is maria bakalova! she did a great job as one of the leads in bodies bodies bodies last year, an absolutely wild horror comedy y’all might like :)) she seems to be super new on the acting scene which is truly impressive for the roles she’s had in the past year alone!
It’s a language evolution. I’m going to I’m fixing to I’m fittina I’m finna Language morphs among cultures from where it started. That’s why North American English pronunciation and terminology has deviated. How widespread the adoption becomes depends on adoption rate.
I am sorry...but I cannot stand the Borat Mockumentaries...God knows I tried but after trying to watch them for 20 minutes or so I had to turn them off. I usually love his humor and I highly respect this very intelligent man but this i just cannot stomach. And i am not a humorless man after all...
I'm English and even I know what finna means lol, its mostly said by the black community in America, it means 'fixing to' i just recognize it as 'going to'. I'm going to do this... Im finna do this...
my burly husband was gifted a Borat man-kini at Burning Man and to my and my daughter's horror, decided to run around the playa in it... Needless to say, once we returned home, I eliminated that nuisance, (the man-kini, not my hubby)
The two queue-anonymous dudes are 100% real. There's two follow up web miniseries to this movie, one of which is called Debunking Borat and has them meeting with experts and debunking each of their claims from the film with evidence. However each attempt to do so is a failure as they continue to believe in their conspiracies.
I need a series of screen shots of some of your reactions which were priceless and perfect. That Sacha .. balls of whatever the hardest element on earth is.
I don't ever think I've seen you two laugh harder than in this film! Hilarious reactions. Quick question.. What software do you use to do the split screen between you two while watching the movie at the same time? The last couple of videos look so clean. Great job! Thanks so much! 😊 - JC
I don’t like Giuliani, but it was a little unfair to him. They made it look like he was trying to do something sexual, but he taking a wireless microphone off. I don’t agree with all the political messages in this movie, but 2019-2021 was a vitriolic time.
The microphone was already off when he did that (she take it off, immediately before that)... He claimed he was trying to tuck in his shirt.... Which was already tucked in. Not remove a microphone.
"Finna" is just slang for Fixing to, which is also, sort of, slang for about to. And, the Rudy thing was all over the news. Rudy swore he was just tucking his shirt in.
The For Our Rights rally Borat and his new friends went to was in Olympia, WA, which is where I live. When the news came out that Sasha Baron Cohen crashed the rally I immediately had the suspicion it was for a Borat sequel and that it was gonna be outrageous.😂
Maria Bakalova, the actress who played his daughter, actually got nominated for an Oscar for this. She has then worked in some hollywood film after this.
“finna” is part of the African American Vernacular English (AAVE) which is a English dialect used in many black American communities. It’s a variant of “fixing to” in the sense of preparing to do something. You can basically replace “I finna” with “I’m gonna”/“I’m going to”
I like this so much more than the original cause it actually has a story with heart as well as SBC being rhe best modern day clown to walk the earth. Also I'm pretty sure he just filmed this himself then auctioned it off to the highest bidder. Kudos to Amazon for producing it.
A funny movie if you live in the US or know a lot about US politics I'm neither of those, so I didn't find it all that funny. Almost everything went over my head.
Ah, you guys never fail to brighten up the week! Especially with your reactions to the Justin Trudeau moment 😂 The first Borat was amazing for the sheer shock value (you never forget your first time watching it!), whereas this one loses some of its impact because of our familiarity with the original… but it gains a lot because the satire is so much more pointed and immediately topical, and Tutar is amazing! Also yes, I was sad that Azamat didn’t return, even though his, um, cameo was wow 😆
Guiliani had to go into dddamage control over that..hand down his pants... he said he was just tucking his shirt in...sure... The babysitter wanted to sue as she had no clue it was a parody... He settled with her by donating a heap of cash to her church...
I was wrong about this movie. I was disappointed when I first saw it, basically holding it up to the original. Seeing it again with you two, it's hitting me much funnier than I remembered. Thank you 🤍
I was the same as yall with hindsight I think alot of people felt that just cause we are all way more plugged into politics and social issues in general compared to early 2000s
I find with Borat movies you have to be in the right frame of mind. Also they're not movies I can just sit down and rewatch for that reason. Seeing Simone and George trading off shocked faces while also dying laughing works though
Finna is a southern thing. They are actually saying "fixing to". But, it comes out as "fittin ta" or "finna". It means, "I'm getting ready to..........". Used in a sentence: I'm finna whoop yo ass!
Yes, Borat Sequel was a funny movie, but I laughed more at watching the two of you react! Fun time! The Giuliani incident was all over the news when the movie came out. Maybe not in Canada so much? Also, you two laughed an extra amount at the photo of the man in blackface. That didn't make quite as much news here in the USA, but your reaction reminded me that I HAD seen this photo briefly mentioned in the news. It's Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau!
You guys mentioned Bruno at the start, if you ever get a hold of a DVD or Bluray of that film watch the making of stuff and listen to the director's commentary, it's extremely interesting. ps. The Rudy Giuliani thing was all over the news when it happened.
I don't know if you picked up that his name Phillip Drummond is the dad's name from the TV show 'Different Strokes." And her name Sara Jessica Parker🤣🤣🤣
