Blues Singer-Songwriter Samantha Fish sat down with Border Crossings host Larry London to talk about and perform songs from her latest CD, "Belle of the West." Originally published at - www.voanews.com/a/4241216.html
Samantha’s so modest; how she played with Buddy Guy - Buddy had her come on stage and he said “What you wanna play,” and Samantha is like, “Whatever you want to play.” So he picks something, and she’s right with him. And he was thinking she’s probably not that good, we’ll get her off stage after a quick tune. But he was so impressed that he asked her to stay onstage and they did several other songs. It’s in another interview on RU-vid.
SAMANTHA ABSOLUTELY RULES! I simply don't understand how this singer/musician/songwriter continues to be ignored by mainstream music media. She is pure genius.
because mainstream music media nowtime only need money. they think that people must listen only rap and other, without melodies, without texts, just only rythm
You are absolutely right !!! She is the pure genius ... even as singer songwriter she's got a fantastic voice ... she's AMERICA ... every time I listen to her I'm thinking "GOD BLESS AMERICA" ...
Samantha seems very confident and cool in most situations and interviews i have seen. So talented and smart...she has done her homework on the history of the blues and other genres. She's just great! Love her music more and more and like everything she has done and is doing.
Honestly didn't know this gal existed up till a week or so ago and now i can't stop looking up her performances and interviews.Absolutely LOVE her style and genuine quality! Just a talented midwestern girl with MEGA TALENT AND BEAUTY!
Pure soul and talent !!! 29 years old....Unbelievable !! Come back as much as you want on our old continent, Samantha ! All the best from Belgium. Dimitri
Great interview! Even though Samantha is always remarkable in these circumstances, and the sung sequences are superb! Samantha is the smartness of elegance.
It's not that she's not staying true to her band members. Go Go Ray, for example, toured with her for 5 years. He decided to move on for various reasons, but there was no animosity. Most of her band members played with her for years, but lives and circumstances change, that's all.
Whoa! This is awesome! Samantha rocks! What a good kid, l am sure your parents are proud! Kudos to them for raising such a good young woman. She is very well spoken and bright!
People comment on her looks - let me say this: I've seen her live twice. She walks out on stage in a miniskirt and high heels and you say, "Va va voom." By the time she's halfway through the first song you have completely forgotten her looks as she totally sweeps you into the music. Enormously talented woman. And I'm annoyed at the VOA's sloppiness on this video. The first song's title is "Daughters," plural, not "Daughter." Little stuff like that is just as easy to get right as wrong. Pay attention.
Talk about taking a ruler and popping someone on the hand. I detect through Samantha's interview's and music, she allows people such as you to be human.
@@billytheweasel amen bro , she got good givin skills , just as long as she don't let that dam devil get a grip on , but her looks and sexyness just grabs the fle well I got daughters older then her
Wow, looks like a young Larry Hagman found his Jeanie he dreamed about. I loved that Last song , beautiful mood with the violin, and her excellent vocals
Lol, the interviewer does look like a young Larry Hagman. All the songs were great, but I agree, the last song was fantastic! Samantha is so talented and utterly gorgeous too!
Just learned about her at the 1st of the Year. Caught a Live Cast of her at Knuckleheads in Kansas City. WOW, she blew my socks off. I look forward to following her music for a long time. This is what I want to hear on the Radio, not Ga/Fl Whine. ;) LOVE YOU SAM. Play it Hun
If you haven't already, do a RU-vid search on Eric Gale and samantha Fish.. this particular video you will see Eric Gale start out playing the blues and midway through the song Eric hands his guitar over to Samantha Fish.. Samantha tears right into the song playing excellent, then she begins belting out (singing) the mentioned blues song.. this was my first exposure to Samantha Fish and I continue to seek out her performances and interviews.
Talk about flogging the blues agenda.... Samantha is trying to reimagine the blues into her own style... It is so much more and you failed to get it. She is a refreshing re-interpreter.
I agree, is def a blues theme there, but she makes it even deeper, is like it goes to your base, roots, and so unpretentious, I heard about her from Bonamassa, she just does it HER way, as all the greats have done!
hate the short hair on her, been a fan from the beginning and i love her with the long hair, but she is amazing either way, great player and songwriter, great singer
I like this version of Need You More the best. The venue highlights each musician's talents better than the studio. Samantha, you do not need all that vocal backup.
