I listened to this again a month later and I''m convinced that Samantha absolutely has to do more acoustic performances and an acoustic album would launch her career farther than she imagined. There aren't many artists that sing with her sincerity. I'm captivated by it but only with her acoustic sets. Probably because I'm old and cant tolerate the hard driving stuff anymore but her acoustic sets take me back to a simpler era. Awesome guitar and such a great story teller. Such passion and feeling! This girl has what the music world searches for, SOUL!
I gotta tell you..MS. Fish...you keep doing this music and keep do North!!! I am a 54 year old guitarist, from rock, blues to flamenco, I have played every s hit hole, every studio and played with the best and worst!!! But you, are the most refreshing artist i have heard in the last 25 years. You renew my faith in music! Thank you!
I've been playing for awhile too, John. Not much out there to keep my interest lately. But our girl here kind of changed my mind. I listen to her and I feel like Im in my 20s again. Di you see how she tuned her guitar? I think our girl here might have perfect pitch.
@@sunka4557 lol. She has a tuner clipped on the headstock. She does rock though. It's refreshing. There is actually a bunch of great young talent out there but they'll probably never get the recognition they deserve.
Besides being a terrific guitar 🎸 player Samantha Fish can sing old school blues songs with the heart ♥ and feelings like she has lived what she is singing 🎶 about and every song she does shows off her musical 🎶 talents
Samantha Fish is the best thing to come out of Kansas City since Burnt Ends. I've had a chance to see many of the all-time great blues musicians over the last 45 or so years, playing every kind of blues there is (acoustic, electric, Piedmont, Delta, flat pickers, finger pickers, you name it), and I'll tell you this - by the time all is said and done, this young lady will stand right up there with just about any of them. She is very much the real deal.
Danielle Nicole Schnebelen is from Kansas City , She is a Grammy nominee, Her brothers are just as talented!! It will be a few more years before Samantha walks the red carpet!
Oh, man, Crow Jane sounds so good. Nothing sounds better than acoustic slide guitar. I'd love to hear what she does with a Dobro. Her awesome voice is just icing on the cake.
I have followed her for five or so years, met the band, (cool guys) and she is always more amazing . A great talent . Can't wait to see her live again!
Finally a performance to validate the fuss. This acoustic performance is the only thing I’ve seen of her thus far that caught my attention and held it. Well done.
The teasing at @. You know that is going to be good! I first did not know how but Samantha brought Mungo Jerry to the scenario until I realized about the stomping foot. 1:20
Are you an artist or a musician? Have you spent year after year practicing and sacrificing for your art? How would you like it if the only thing people could say about you was about your fucking hair?
people make comparisons with SRV...I never liked him but Samantha is a phenomenal artist, she can do it all, outstanding writer, player and singer...Blues is safe in her hands...
Brilliant 😉 actually glad she isn't overly well known, other wise all the twats I hate would be playing her music without having any appreciation at all for it....
I'll say it again, I think her vocals are actually better than her guitar playing. I hope she does an acoustic album some day like this. Just plain awesome.
beautiful guitar, beautiful woman, beautiful music. pour me a quality single malt scotch whiskey, neat, and i'm good. one moment............ok, got a glenfiddich aaaaaaaand replay.
This is the second Samantha Fish song I have commented on, the first is one made is of a video made several years later....anyway.....I see the true merit of Samantha in this video....I had to find early ones to see if she was worth the effort on commenting on...she is. Tip for recording Blues slide while recording Voice...DON'T USE NEW STRINGS....the sheer brightness, plus the added harmonics new strings reproduce when picked up by the microphone drown out the voice.....Best thing to do is have a separate SLIDE guitar and never change the strings.....WTF!....Just have the engineer mic the slide guitar at the bridge behind where you pick/strum...plenty bright
Shes awesome. But Caroline Smith has been doing this style for a long time. She's become too poppy for me lately but check her out if you havent. MN represent! ;_)
The people who are in the know haven't got away from the blues ,, the blues will last forever ,,, my generation , and I saw Hendrix in 70 ,,need to remind this newer generation , teen and 20 year olds that this art form is Americas roots , , after all the blues have been around since the mid 1800 s --
@@georgefuller1868 The industry is made up of people NOT IN THE KNOW. Blues music is as far away from what makes the industry tick as can be. A talent like Samantha shouldn't have to crawl her way out of small clubs where she's selling her wares after the show to make a buck. That's the difference between an artist that's got the industry pushing her and someone like Sam. It's about what will sell w/ the least amount of chance/guesswork, PERIOD. Forget all the "blues goes back to 1829 nonsense... doesn't mean a damn thing unless you got some gimmick to sell records/cd's whatever. This goes in cycles and someday a kid is gonna bemoan the fact that rap is not being promoted by such and such. It's all cyclical and ya gotta hope an artist Like Samantha fills some niche somewhere until the time her type music is worth spending promotional money on.
t a people not in the know ? Hogwash // for 30 years of my life I sat in 5 different radio stations in two different states as a jazz and blues broadcaster // you , or anybody walk in the door of the independent radio stations where I've worked (( and mind you KKGO L A was one of them )) you better know programming of THE format , being it jazz or blues // you got to know that the audience consists of not only the general public , but industry officials , professional musicians , and historians just to name a few // And in case you haven't kept up with Samantha's industry she just signed with BMG // Samantha's days of selling her own material after a concert or gig will never end // I've seen more than 1000 concerts beginning with Jimi Hendrix in 1970 -- and after a lot of those concerts , the artist will sell and sign their recordings // it only makes sense // because now that Samantha has her own recording company as well as a recording artist with ruf records , the promoters will handle the volume of recordings sent to radio stations as well as cd / music outlets where people can purchase recordings // She's not hurting ,, she just relocated in New Orleans // and forget about the saying that no one cares about where this American Roots music came from , the reason people admire Samantha Fish is because she took interest in its origins and continues the legacy --
@@georgefuller1868 well boo hoo to you. You missed my point, I don't care how many concerts you've attended or what dead icon u saw in 1965, or what college/underground radio station DJ's you've known... unless the president of warner/elektra capitol blah blah corporation of america feels an artist is worth risking a million dollars or two (that is no one at the moment), then talented artists of many genres that aren't flavor of the month/year/decade, ie., Beyonce' Taylor Swift, Kanye West or STYLEwise Rap/female disney type singers w/ 13 year old baby voices/ alt country - will struggle to earn a living or get nearly the amount of airplay or respect they deserve. I hope I'm proven wrong, but there is no longer a "ROCK" MUSIC "scene, and until there is some sort of miracle not unlike The Beatles, the industry BIGWIGS will stick to the same formula that has made them BILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Beyonce', Taylor Swift, etc. Bottom line IS, either a "miracle" or someone of the order of the ERTEGUN brothers comes along or is reincarnated that has a love of music other than rap/pop/ and invests in those artists the way Ahmet Ertegun advanced a new band named Led Zeppelin the unheard of sum in those days of 250 thousand dollars, then we will be listening to the downright SHIT that wins or performs on the Grammys every year. PEACE.
