Hey friends! I’m still very much in the learning stage for the accent I use in this video - it doesn’t feel natural for me yet, I often slip in and out of it accidentally, and Irish accents have such different sounds across different regions, too! But I don’t believe something has to be perfect in order to share it (if I believed that, I’d never share anything!) so I would appreciate y’all being kind and helping create an environment in which both me and others in this community feel comfortable sharing despite imperfection and learning as we go. Thank you! 💕

It sounds fine to me. I listen to Irish accents a couple of times per week due to the Dubliners on the Try Channel. They're hilarious if you ever want to see some mildly alcoholic folks try food and drink from around the world.

I think a lot of DMs sleep on fan-made or 3rd party content. I just ran a boss fight based on Nymwen that wouldn’t have been complete with a lair mechanic I found on Reddit. Honesty, once I get above level 9, homebrew and 3rd party content is a must for me to keep my game fresh.
@DJROCKSTAZ
@DJROCKSTAZ 2 года назад
In their defense, DM's have good reason to ignore homebrew. Content not officially made by Wizards of the Coast is prone to being OP because the people making them don't know what circumstances that content is going to be used in on account of not being part of the campaign. Not saying homebrew is bad-hell, my second campaign actually is TOTALLY homebrew, and it's VERY balanced.
@KN-oc7cu

I would love to get more into 3rd party, but i have a bit of a crutch with dndbyone since that's how me and my players build and run our games. Also where all my core content is located. Any advice to those like me?
@CrispysTavern
@CrispysTavern 2 года назад
@@KN-oc7cu Honestly, that is the primary reason I don't use D&D Beyond. BUT! You do have a couple options. 1. D&D Beyond allows you to add your own content. If you aren't using a ton of homebrew you can realistically transcribe it into the program. 2. There's nothing wrong with opening another tab and using a more general online service like Google Drive to store and use homebrew PDFs. In my D&D Discord I have a section for each homebrew feature my players use and they just transcribe the abilities into D&D Beyond. Hope this helps!
@KN-oc7cu
@KN-oc7cu 2 года назад
@@CrispysTavern yeah o guess it wouldn't be all that different from using my own homebrew stuff! And i would only need to add it to beyond as needed, like if a player takes a feat or uses a specific subclass! It's not like there are integrated tools for thing alike roll play or down time anyways, lol. Guess it's less daunting then it seems! It is super nice to just be able to search things tho instead of pouring o er a pdf

group themes really are super useful !! one of my first campaigns was built around every character wanting to hunt down the same guy but not knowing the other’s motivations. one PC was the guy’s son and was concerned because his father went missing. another PC was the guy’s secret wife who he had a second family with, and she and the son were very surprised by each other! and then there was my character, who was basically an undead entity who, in life, had been murdered by this guy and wanted revenge. they continued working together even after they all realized they had different goals, if only to confront this guy and ask what the hell is going on. it was the DM’s first campaign, so it didn’t end up going too smoothly after all, but i’d love to do a campaign with a hook like that again!

I am always happy to see one of your Centaur creations, and your Irish accent was pretty good! I lived there for five years...and one of the best things I discovered during that time is that there isn't a singular Irish accent, there's tons of them with small to large variations. I would place yours somewhere in Leinster--perhaps Kildare, the southern part of Louth, or the outskirts of Dublin itself. I think the thing Americans tend to get wrong with it is to overdo the lilt of it--a little bit goes a long way, and what I found as I was there for longer is that its not quite there all the time and always in the same pattern. There's also class and rural/urban differences in accents that are noteworthy, and can make the same accent fundamentally unintelligible to someone of the same region or city simply for the speed or inflection (as I witnessed many times for people in Cork City, where I lived!). Try a Cork or Kerry accent to sound a bit more hard-edged for, perhaps, a barbarian or a fighter character, or a Northern Irish accent for a bard, rogue, or magic-wielder! And if you haven't seen the Pulp Fiction "royale with cheese" scene in the broad Kerry accent on RU-vid before, check it out! ;)

Great stuff! This needs to be done more. The 3rd Party stuff is amazing if you get into it. Sadly they seem to be tied to first party output. For instance, remember when Feywyld came out and there were like 5 books all tied to the Fae in some way within a year. One of the issues that hurts me is that I KNOW I am only going to buy one of these books so I really need people like you to contrast the books so I know which one is best for the way may game is played. Since these books are not in the bookstore we can't flip through them and see what we are paying for. HELP US! Is there some rule from the sponsors saying you can't do this? Another more present example: Spectacular Settlements (Nord Games) vs. Campaign Builder: Cities and Towns (Kobold Press). I understand one is heavier on charts but the other has more flesh to plots and NPCs, but thats it. I need more info to make a good decision on a purchase!

Ooh, my party's using Valda's Spire of Secrets which is a very good time! Especially since all of us are a bit too familiar with the core 5e books, it's good to make things that can surprise all of us.

Well, now I’m even more excited for my backer copy of Tome of Heroes to ship. I’m always excited to dig into new third party spells and items, but the possibilities of the new races and subclasses has me champing at the bit to dig through the book.

Whatever they're paying you for advertising is not enough - I clicked that link SO FAST after you started describing the subclass options and the new backgrounds!

I definitely did hear like a little bit of Scottish slip in here & there, but overall not bad. I've been an Irish dancer for 20 years, been to Ireland 2x, and it's still certainly better than I could do! Good job Ginny!

I've been running Kobold Press stuff for about 3 years now. I couldn't get into their world but I've taken a lot of the lore, races, and classes.

Gotta say, this is a fun video to see after having been playing an Alseid druid character for the past five months now. XD Our D&D group started playing a Midgard-based campaign recently by Kobold Press and we have definitely been enjoying it.

Ah yeah! Where in Midgard are you adventuring in?

@@KoboldPressGames Well, we started off in Zobeck, but are currently making our way toward the Canton of Grisal. =) Our DM has kept the specific campaign name a secret though so as not to spoil us. Very much been enjoying the adventure so far though!

"A pact with an awakened shrub". As a fan of the movie The Three Amigos, I could never, never play this seriously.

I thought I recognised those dulcet tones in the intro - go Ralph! I think your accent is just fine and you should keep trying new stuff. Your content is always tip-top and I really dig your style and your takes on DMing and D&D.

I may try 3rd party content one day lol - I'm a prolific homebrewer, so I can't help but make it myself lmao. I even made a deer centaur for my own campaign called the Cernonna, so nice to see other people are also doing the same.
