Gday, In the video I make the gearbox housing for the Boring and Facing head, I hope you enjoy... Thanks for watching... Email - mattysworkshop76@gmail.com
Hi Matty, it is all coming together nicely. I really appreciate all the thought that goes into making each part and producing great video at the same time. Regards, Dave
Hey, Matty. That's a real piece of work. And the precision machining required...that's like stacking BBs with boxing gloves on. Well done! I'm looking forward to the gears too. Thanks for letting me look over your shoulder and see you next week. Cheers, mate.
When I saw the drawing I thought, how is he going to do this on a manual machine ... i should have known better by now, unbelievable. Greetings from Belgium.
G'day Matty, thats a beauty mate, you made a proper good job there as always, correcting happy little accidents along the way too, thanks for sharing, buddy, and best wishes to you and yours
Nice work Matty. Takes a lot of planning and preparation to do this type of work. I have spent hours just making fixtures to perform a simple 20 minute task. Thanks for sharing. All the best.
Wow Matty, looking good… A lot of features and fidelity details to keep track of in those little housing blocks. Looking forward to the gear cutting 👍 Cheers…..
G'day Matty, stopped the video where you made your 2.5 mm offset error, if it does turn out that it is important, then turn up a piece of Ali to be a interference in the holes and loctite them in and go again in the right position. An easy fix if it's important that the holes are in the right position without having to start again. Watched it all now, I said it a few weeks ago and I'll say it again, you Matty are becoming a bloody good machinist! That gearbox housing is pretty complicated and it looks totally professional mate, good on yer! Cheers from England, Sam
Looking real nice mate.👌Your using all your kit on this build making all the purchases over the years worthwhile. By the time you have finished this project you will have easily made more gears than me! All the best Matty. Cheers👍
Gday, This has been a really interesting build and definitely using a lot of tools that haven't been used in a while, Appreciate you watching mate, Cheers
I'm going to be late getting up this morning. Coffee and Matty. Edit. Well, that really is coming along nicely Matty. I'm looking forward to the next episode already.
What a great piece of mechanical engineering eh? Well done mate 👏👏 I can’t wait to see how this all works when it comes together. Love ya work… and appreciate all the extra hours you put into the videos. Regards Robert PS We’ve had so much rain, for so bloody long, I’m afraid the whole Sydney Basin will turn into the Everglades 🤣🤣🤣 Flash rust starting to be a problem 😵💫
Gday Robert, The final video is out on the build, you'll have to check that one out for the final result mate, We've been pretty lucky here with the rain thankfully, Thanks for watching mate, Cheers
G'day Matty. Bloody well done mate, as that's not an easy part to machine manually. You know me, I'm a lazy bastard and would've have cheated (CNC machined it) 🤪
Gday Matty another highly technical piece of the puzzle coming up really nice. I like that little indicator holder you used on your boring head is that a bought thing or a Matty's workshop special part number tool. Your skill level is screaming ahead it's great to watch, look forward to the next video.
Matty, I've been watching this job from the beginning and am very, very impressed with you advanced skills. It is not an easy job to do with all the steps and set-ups but you have done it with thought and precision. Its a nice design, do you know when the drawings will be on the market. I have a very cheap facing head and it struggles at times so would consider building one at some stage. Cam
Gday Cam, This build has been very educational to be honest and completely outside my comfort zone but in saying that its been a really enjoyable build, i'll be letting everyone know when the plans are available, Thanks for watching mate, cheers
Very nice project Mate coming along well! Thinking about building one, but for the moment, the to do list is very long! I'm working on a lift to get upstairs! Also I'm thinking about how it might be possible to make an adapter for a standard boreing head, just an idea at the moment! All the best, cheers Matthew
Give yourself a pat on the back for another job well done. 👍 Quick question for you, do you have a sticker wall for other channels ?? I finally got around to getting some made this week and I will happily do a sticker swap with you.
Wow Matty, watching you is a pleasure your audio is nice to hear and not having loud so called music is great. You videos are very clear what camara do you use and editing suit do you use? Best regards Ken inthe UK.
Gday Ken, I use a single GoPro Hero 12, no external mics and I use iMovie for editing, Its a very basic setup that works for me, Thanks for watching mate, Cheers
That's turning into quite a chunky tool. Very impressive work. Will the gearbox cause any imbalance? Or is there something I've missed? Just curious as my boring head can cause the machine to vibrate quite badly (larger diameters, harder materials).
top job Matty would not mined a few bob for every time i read a plain wrong would have a few less parts in the shame bin that's for sure but looks like you may recover from this one good variety of Milling and lathe , rotary table bit of it all there nicely done just curious your rotary table is it an 8 inch Cheers
Gday, The rotary table is a Vertex 8", These are the most technical set of plans i've ever worked to and Im surprised I haven't screwed up more to be honest, Thanks for watching, Cheers
