This video was exactly what I needed. I had success even though I couldn’t get the elbow loose so I took off the face plate and brass fitting and swapped on the old brass components onto the replacement plastic assembly. I’m lousy at fixing things, so if I had success then the instructional video must be good.

Excellent video. I diagnosed the problem from another youtube video, and your video shows me exactly what I need to do to replace the valve. $20 Part is now on order. Repair videos on youtube are an immense help. This is now the 3rd major appliance I've been able to diagnose and fix myself via youtube videos. The others being a central AC, and a dryer. I'd say 0% chance I'd be able to fix these without people making repair videos like yours on youtube.

Finally had the time to install the part, and the dishwasher is now working. I'll say that it wasn't terribly obvious that the valve was clogged, but the new part works, and the old one doesn't. Maybe you could try to fix the old part by soaking it in vinegar to dissolve any built up scale, but for $20, it's easier to just buy something new.

Helpful tip on removing the power/ground connectors from the valve: there's a spring piece built into the connector that engages with the hole in the tab and also acts as a stop to prevent the connector being pushed too far on - if you press the stop with a small screwdriver blade (at the top of the tab when it's properly connected) it will disengage the lock and the connectors slip off the tab with very little pressure required.

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel thanks. I used your video today to guide removing the valve for my low fill problem. Couldn't get the 90-degree connector off, but removed the 4 screws that hold the inlet side onto the valve body's o-ring, and then removed the filter which was pretty solid with crud. Put it all back together, with a little silicone grease on the o-ring, but unfortunately it didn't solve the low fill problem. Sigh. Ordered a new fill valve. I may take apart the old valve when I have the new one and see whether I can figure out what really happened. Thanks for putting up this video!

If the valve is old, there is also the chance that, while it may not be clogged, the internal coil lowers its resistance (usually degredation of the insulating material over time/internal shorts) lowering the magnetic efficacy of the internal valve mechanism so it cannot pull the plunger, that keeps the valve closed, open all the way, instead only partially. The effect is the same as having a lot of sediments in the filter area. You will have a decreased amount of water, and is far more common than crud in the filter.

I tried to put enough water and let it run a cycle but it just drains the water and then stands empty not doing enough yet it's running. When I open it, it still runs (I see a tiny water spray if I remove the filter) which is odd, usually it pauses. Help 😢 it's a disaster now just a few days before Christmas!

mine fills, just only 1/2 way then stops...not enough to clean... only fills up to the bottom screen. Frigadiare btw

I was unable to unscrew the elbow pipe with any amount of force I was able to apply, and did not want to ruin anything. Suggestions?

I’ve had that happen also. If you can remove the old valve from the dishwasher, you can brace it with vice grips or a vice and then use a crescent wrench to grab the brass elbow and turn counterclockwise 👍

I had the same problem. I unscrewed the four screws holding on the rectangular plate and brass fitting from the old assembly and swapped them into the replacement assembly. I only forgot to make sure the black O ring was in place, so I had to do it twice but eventually had success.
