Thanks so much for this! You just saved me $1200 on buying a brand new dishwasher. Symptoms were to the T, long wash cycles, and no drying anymore. Thought it was worth a shot even being a novice at soldering... took less than 25 minutes from start to finish and everything is working great. When I opened the control box I was so relieved to see the solder missing, I knew you took me to the goal line. Thanks for posting!

EXCELLENT! I Found the exact same problem -- bad joint. It looked like the lead to the relay was too short and didn't pass through the PCB far enough but with a piece of wire, good solder paste and good solder, got it fixed! Thanx!

THIS TOTALLY WORKED! Thank you so much for pointing this out!! We have a different model (and it's 12 years old but works great). Took it apart in the same way and lo and behold the same circuit was burned out (same little black burn mark). Soldered it back and PRESTO...steam and no more mold and wet gross. We cook a LOT and doinf dishes by hand was...not fun. Amazing what a simple issue this was that broke the whole thing. 10 stars! Xoxo

Our SHE3ARF2UC/21 dishwasher stopped heating for the drying cycle, and showed E:02 error. It did finish cleaning but of course dishes didn't get dry like they used to In my case it was NOT the common problem with the relay overheating and causing a bad solder joint on the PCB. I suspect that the controller in our model is using an improved relay for the heater, there was no sign of any overheating and the solder connections were fine. I had ordered a 6V and a 12V relay just in case, and it was a good thing. Our controller board uses 12V relays. The problem in this case was the coil on the relay had opened, so of course the relay would not energize. If you have an ohmmeter you can check this on your board. For the 12V relay the coil resistance should be about 400 ohms. The common pin on the old relay was stubborn but I was finally able to get it de-soldered and the new relay installed. Works like new again. So if you don't see the over heated solder connection check your relay coil for proper continuity. BTW the relay on this controller board had an extra normally open pin, so you have to de-solder that as well. And while you can get away with resoldering the pin on your old relay (if the coil is OK) it is better to replace the relay as the root cause is that the relay contacts have pitted and developed a high resistance connection. So there is a good chance the problem will return in the future if you don't replace the relay.

This worked for me as well. We have a 14 year old Bosch dishwasher that suddently stopped cleaning well. And the dishes came out cold and wet. I took apart the door and found the pin on the PC board that was now missing solder. I soldered it and the washer is back in action. If it fails again I'll replace the relay with a higher amperage relay. But so far so good.

Hi Scot. Love your videos. You do a great job of explaining things. I have what appears to be the exact same model as in this vid with the same problem as described below: hangs on 1 and does not get steam. I had this same issue 4 years ago and ended up replacing the board. Tonight I pulled the board apart and looked and looked and could not find any sign of a problem. So I’m wondering if the heating element is, in fact, faulty. How do I test it?

Thank you for this Scott, our trusty Bosch Exxcel Max (2002 model) just started running for ages with 1m left on display and no heat, engineer came out today, claimed no fixes available and wanted a new machine sale, as in this is dead, buy a new one.... But told him no deal (no charge from Bosch as they said they had no modules in stock to sell me so could not repair it - I checked online and these controllers are marked as out of stock, saving me £135 at least).... We faced a similar symptom - no heat/steam at times and at other times, water remained not fully drained. Luckily in our case, we did not have to open the console. The problem turned out to be overdrawing of power from the supply. Electric kettle, toaster and microwave - they all share the power line with our dishwasher. When we made sure that other appliances remained off for the entire duration of a wash cycle - things got back to normal.

Thank you so much! Wokred perfectly for me aswell. All tho i have a small bench dishwasher from bosh. Found the mainboard with some digging ( My mainboard was under the machine, not in front with the controller buttons) and saw that the soddering had alittle burnmarks around it but the soldering looked in tact. But i did what you did and cleaned up the burn marks on two diffrent places on the mainboard (the one i mentioned and the other was right next to it where there was many very small holes with soldering in it and no metall sticking thru like the first one. i didnt resolder theese since my soldering iron had a pritty thick edge) and scraped one of the burnt connectors (looked like main connector for electricity output to the components in the machine, all tho it odesnt connect to the connector... 6 metall connectors and cable only connects to 4 of them) so it was shiny again (was blue and brown burn marks) and put it together again. now it works perfectly :)

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Update: It stopped working again after 1 day :/ Im gonna try again, maybe i didnt warm the solder enough. Its very strange, it washes just fine but the second it starts the drying program it goes straight to the "Check water supply" light and just stays there. The machine kinda crashes there and doesnt respont to enything else then a turn off and on again. Reset does not work... When i turn it back on again and start a new cycle it drains the water thats in there first then starts the program. Tested all programs now and it doesnt work (before it only worked on program with 40 degrees celcius). Do you think that my problem apply's to your solution? im thinking that maybe its one off the inductors or something is faulty. ill try resoldering properly this time see if it helps.

Ah darn. it did not work. i made sure to scrape down to the metall and add solder over it but nah its still doing the jump from wash cycle straight to check water supply light... ive checked both the water in and water out and they are pritty much brand new and are not beeing cut off or anything like that. Water do get into the machine and the machine/water does get hot.

@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel 11 месяцев назад

@CyReX1986
@CyReX1986 11 месяцев назад
Ok so it just crashed again. i was watching it abit closely now and what happens is after the second water drainage and it has filled the machine with new water for the thrid time it then goes straight to "check water supply". The water is almost to the top of the plastic ring as it should be. i tried to just add some ekstra water in it just to see what happened but nothing happened... i also removed the plastic thingie that protects the drainage motor and the drainage motor spins just fine, no foreign objects down there. Im gonna give it a try by moving the machine to a more leved area and try again.

Thanks a bunch for the videos. I have a Bosch 800 series dishwasher. The tablets are no longer dissolving. There appears to be plenty of water, so I don't think it's a water inlet valve problem. I ran a cycle (selected normal cycle and sanitize). After 10 minutes the water was high enough, but cold. No steam at all. After 40 minutes, steam was rolling out, water was very hot. But, the tablet was still mostly undissolved. Any ideas? Do you think it could be the relay?

Scott quick question for you - my Bosch has the same problem. Low water and no heat. I’m curious though would the full valve (assuming poor flow) just not stay on until the float valve is satisfied?
@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel 2 года назад
Thanks Scott, I think the problem is time duration. It only opens the valve for a set amount of time. That’s why a week valve gives you low water level and not enough pressure to activate the water heater.

We have a 2006 Bosch that has started to have the problem of not heating the water - symptoms, 1) it runs for ever, 2) there appears too be enough water in the unit based on a let fill for 5 minutes and then open door to see how high water is, 3) water is cool to touch and there is no steam, 4) unit times down to 1 - starts at 108 - - - minutes I assume and just does not finish. Before I order a heating assembly - which looks to be a nasty think to install - I will give this a try first. Fingers crossed as up to now this has been a really good dishwasher. If anyone reads this and has any other ideas I might want to try please feel free to comment . . . and thanks Scott!!

Hello, Scot! We have a Bosch SHX57C05UC / 36 that we bought 14 years ago. Until recently it has been terrific. Now, like Michael Phillips who wrote you a year ago, our dishwasher 1) runs forever, 2) has enough water, 3) doesn't heat the water beyond what comes from the house hot water supply; 4) no steam produced; 5) times down to 1 minute and then continues for hours; 5) eventually, it goes to the rinse cycle, continuing down to 1 minute where it stays for a long time until it finally gives up and empties properly; 6) No accumulated heating dries the dishes, so they are seriously wet. The main difference is that our control panel is located at the top of the door. Question: Is there a different procedure for opening the panel for this model? We can't quite see the actual soldering location in your otherwise really descriptive video. Thank you so much for your help.

And what caused that kind of heat to make the solder melt away. The relay is underrated and either the relay with a greater value should be installed or a new board is in order.

When the element gets weak it takes longer to hit the right temps and the relay overheats 👍

If the relay connection melts would that mean current is too high? So you can connect it again but that would be a temp solution until it melts again.

@alexanderszabo5983

It's not the first time I re-soldered connections in my Bosch dishwasher. Does it get this hot because of the heat inside the dishwasher or did the Bosch engineers not calculate the current flow correctly and there is too much current with high resistance that makes the solder melt? If it melts because of the heat in the dishwasher, can you insulate the board somehow to protect it?
