Owner of an older SHX Bosch. This worked perfect with one exception. The circuit board was not able to be removed from the control panel. The control panel came out OK, and it was fine to solder it with a $25 Pinecil. Now it works great again. Thank you so much!!

Wow Fantastic video, my Bosch dish washer SHE33M was running for hours so I tried exactly what it suggested in the Video, bought a soldering iron for $40 and soldered the loose connection, in my case it was hardly noticeable but close inspection showed that it was connection was loose and slightly burned out looking. Hardest part was taking the plastic casing apart without breaking anything. Thank you Scott.

I just fixed my 10 year old Bosch dishwasher that had this same problem. Resoldered the land around one pin on the heater control relay and added an additional piece of wire soldered directly to the leg of the relay and to the other pins in that same land on the board. I also touched up a couple of other solder joints nearby that looked suspect. Closed it all up and it works fine again. Thank you for the service tip.

Thanks for this! I replaced my heater assembly for $185, figuring it was the most-likely culprit. It was not. I took my controller board out, found a crapped-out solder joint, cleaned it up, re-soldered, and the water is now HOT inside the dishwasher (before it was never over 98F, which I think is the setting at the water heater in my basement).

Thanks for this video! I just fixed a Bosch SHX45M05UC/50.... same symptoms...not drying running on and on... Had a service guy come out and he advised "just get a new one". He figured the heating element was done and that would be a 400$ repair. Getting into the plastic board shield was tricky and some tabs were snapped, but everything reassembled just fine generally. We just had a jeep rad repair done and the thought of more expense at Christmas was irritating. You've bought us some time!

Thank you! This video just helped me repair my Bosch SHI6805UC/06. The control board was only slightly different. I made sure to photograph each connection before I removed the panel. I did not have to remove the whole white box, but rather popped open the plastic cover and soldered the bad connection that was burnt. Great fix!!!

Thanks. Have successfully replaced the relay on my Siemens dishwasher which is very similar to the Bosch. For those in the UK where the R46-5D12-6 is unavailable I bought a 6V Mini Miniature Power Relay SPDT 15A from switch_elec on ebay at £1.89 delivered. They sent me the specification including size/pin out and its a good match for the R46-5D12-6. It's also available from RS (Stock No.476-573) at £1.66 but delivery cost is extra. An inexpensive solder sucker was very useful to remove the solder from the pins of the old relay!

Thanks, that was so helpful! I read somewhere else that if the solder burnt out it may be a faulty relay and will burn out again (needing full replacement of the control panel) but I soldered the burnt out connection and the dishwasher is back to working.

It worked! Found a tiny separation on the controller board while viewing from the non-component side. Resoldered. Now dishwasher gets steamy, and I'm betting my timer problem is fixed too. Thanks so much for the video.

What a savings. Just followed your solution, though it took a bit to get the solder to stick. I had to hit it with alcholol and flux and finally got the solder to stick but worked right off the bat. Have to get the front door to fit a bit better So I will have to pull it out and drop it back in. Great video saved me probably $250 after shipping and taxes. The part for my dishwasher is $202. Hopefully it holds up for a few years more.

Thanks for a great informative video! I picked up a great dishwasher on FB marketplace for $20 and this is what was wrong with it. Reflowed the solder on the relay and it is running perfectly! Now I have a brand new looking running and running dishwasher for $20! WIN!

I should have watched this before working on my dishwasher. I had no problem getting the door apart and the circuit board swapped (I just swapping in a new circuit board). But I had a devil of a time getting the door back together. I guess the trick is to mount the control, then slide the bottom panel UP into place. What I did was attach the bottom two screws on the lower panel, which gave me _juuuust_ enough room to lever the control panel back into place.

Thanks. My dishwasher is faulty, some programs don't work while others do, therefore, after eliminating all other possibilities, I have isolated to an issue with the controller. Except that the controller is not produced anymore for my 20+ y.o. dishwasher. I don't know if it can be fixed but at this point trying is free, I can't damage it any more than it is. I'll just pay attention to not burn down the house :))) Your instructions give me hope and a cool project to look forward to.

@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance I removed the controller but there was nothing wrong with it as far as I could see without actually putting it under tension, so nothing to solder. In the end I concluded that 20 years of almost consecutive night shifts is enough for it, it was probably a multiple organ failure. It will take a well deserved retirement before it's reincarnation. Looking into another Bosch or a Mille :D

Turns out my problem wasn't on the circuit board. Different root cause. The door latch wasn't always holding fully closed. The door latch assembly has two different sensors which indicate door status, (open/closed). One is a microswitch, the other is a magnetic sensor. Apparently the faulty door latch was allowing the door to move enough to intermittenly change the status of one or both of the sensors. Changed the latch, seems to be working fine now. Good service BestBuy. Took 2 visits but good technicians and no charge under warranty.

Thanks a mil for this video. Our 16 yep Siemens dishwasher was doing the same. We had to get a magnifying glass to find our culprit. A tiny burnout dot on a trace was the problem. A nice dot of solder on the offending spot sorted the problem 🤞

Excellent procedure. My only modification was to not disconnect the module wires (power was off), remove the cover and place the board on a cat scratch post (just the right height) and solder the board. Reassemble.

I pulled mine apart and circuit board and relays looked pristine. I kinda wonder if I should replace relay anyways. They are about $8.00 at Amazon. R46-5D12-6 is the part number. I am wondering if this is what caused the fires from the 1999-2005 units. This relay is 12 volt. I read that Bosch used a 10 volt and they needed at least 11 volt. I am going to need to get another multimeter an recheck. I also read where one guy said he used his for years without using the scrubbing cycle, and that is when the relay, or solder melted. So the heater was probably made it get hot. Great video.

The wash cycles in my Bosch SHU9955UC/U12 were doubling in time, and when I checked the water, it was about as hot as the water coming out of the tap. Took a chance to check if this was the problem, and it was. There was no solder left on that particular point. The cycles are now back to normal, and the water is as hot as it was before (steaming). Thanks!

Can the circuit board malfunction like you’re repairing cause issues with the draining? To be more specific, the motor, which turns but immoderately stops. I have taken apart the machine and eliminates all drain issues other than it being a bad pump or reseating the plastic pump cover lid.

I bought a brand new Bosh dishwasher and I just noticed it only comes on at night, but does not in a day, and it’s now washing I think it’s rinsing and the red display on door goes off when I shut the door, also the red light at the bottom of the door flashes when lights are on in the kitchen then glows solid red when lights are off, any ideas?

If it doesn’t fill with enough water it will not activate the heater. How high does the water get in relation to the round plastic filter handle after five minutes?

My washer sometimes doesn't heat and sometimes stays on for ever. I assume it has a similar problem. But also, the delay start button doesn't work. So could this one bad solder problem be the cause for all of this? Or is my control board have many separate issues? I don't want a temporary fix that i need to keep opening the washer every month for. Also, new control boards are now $115 vs $200. Just wondering

Thanks for the tip! This worked on my Bosch SHE43M02UC/50. Mine failed gradually and I noticed the burnt electronics odor the last few times running the dishwasher until it finally started hanging on 1 minute. Any ideas as to why this failure is so common? It seems like a lot of model numbers around mine were recalled but of course this one wasn't. The relay part number is 899-1C-F-C-6VDC for my model in case anyone is looking to replace the relay instead of just re-soldering the bad connection. It looks like there's some variability in the relays used across different models but it was clearly labeled. The relay should be easy to replace if it is truly the source of the problem.

I think the element gets weak and requires juice to flow through the relay too long, heating up the solder and breaking the connection . I would use a thick bead of solder on that joint.

Thanks for the video. Similar fix worked on a Bosch SHX33A05UC/43 that would run forever. One post on my burned relay was too far gone, so had to desolder to remove, then replace with a R46-5D12-6 Relay, which is a 12-Amp, 6-Volt, 100-Ohm relay. Little bit higher power relay to hopefully avoid the problem next time around. My dishwasher normally functions ok, however it does play up, causing the program to be longer than usual occurring about 22 mins remaining works briefly then seems to stop. After 10 mins it start running again this time it starts at 33 mins working fine until 2 mins left number flashing now to 1 min, it appears to complete its desired wash then starts again repeating this cycle this can often work for hours until I press the reset button and the dishwasher drains . I would be grateful for any advice to help me with this issue. Rick

Did the repair, but the result is the same - probably the relay burned itself out... Ordered R46-5D12-6 which is a better replacement (shouldn't burn out).
