Bosch Mixer | You Paid How Much?!

Here’s my amateur baker’s opinion on the Bosch mixer. Why in the world would you pay $400 for a mixer? Well...now I can't live without mine. Who doesn’t love making enormous amounts of home made bread?
Happy baking!
Do you own a Bosch? What do you think about the price tag? Do you prefer a Kitchen Aid or a Bosch mixer?

I had a Bosch for a while… best mixer ever! I ended up giving it to one of My daughters-in-law because I just didn’t do the amount of heavy mixing to justify such a powerful appliance. I now use my old Kitchenaid.

I have been using a Bosch Universal since 1980…and I can assure you that you can make smaller quantum’s of bread, cookies…or what ever. You can even whip one large egg white into 1 and 1/2 cups of whipped egg whites. Just try it !

My parents purchased a Bosch Universal, plastic and metal bowls. I think it was 400 dollars or so. MY Bosch, same model, I found it at Deseret Industries. Six whole dollars! My siblings all have the same thing. Well most. My big brother's KA was in the shop, the third time, this year. Loaned him mine, and he did NOT want to return it! steve

Hi from the Scottish Highlands.. I trained as a chef and from my perspective this mixer is good..I have the stainless steel bowl apparently the latest version that came from Germany..This mixer for most dose what it clams ..However I would dispute any claims that it is the best mixer!! I am currently SAVING FOR THE ANKERARSRUM MIXER.. I have reviewed many presentations and with a 7 year warranty at least on the moter I will eventually make my BOCH a back up mixer...Research the ANKERARSRUM and see what you think..Kindness your way.. Lochness Scottish Highlands..

I have an Ankarsrum. It's great! But I had to retire mine because I have a 10 quart commercial mixer that runs circles around it. The Bosch would be a lost cause and a total failure in my collection, only because of one 10 quart Berkel that the Bosch wouldn't be able to keep up with.

OK, about 50 years of experience, and I'm a mechanic. I took the bottom off, just to have a look. First time in my family, that someone looked inside. You could sell me a Bosch, new, with a 5 day warranty. Warranties are pretty much useless on a Bosch. They DON'T break down! 7 units, close to 75 years total, and no problems. steve

I find the Bosch Universal Plus with SS dough hook has consistent mixing times as commercial spiral mixer. I have been scaling done commercial recipes to 1 to 2 kg and mixing times specified in commercial recipe gave very nice results.

Great video. I just bought the Bosch…and I went crazy and just bought all of the accessories that go with it. I got so fed up with my stand mixer just mashing everything up on the sides and me having to keep stopping the mixer to scrape the sides. When I saw that the Bosch has little scrapers that attach to whatever attachment is being used it immediately spoke to me. Then I saw all of the reviews. Everyone who owns one seems to love it!

I have a Bosch Compact I use for smaller batches that stays on the counter all the time and a Concept Solitaire for big batches. The Solitaire has a digital timer, which is a feature I really wish they had carried over into the newer ones. It's super handy for things you don't want to overmix and you don't have to babysit it.

Pro tip: add your water, oil, honey, yeast, and about two cups of water and let it sit for 20 mins. It develops more flavor that way and it also allows you to make sure that your yeast is still good. If your yeast hasn't expired, you'll see bubbles and it'll smell nice (like honey, yeast, and wheat) when the 20 mins are up. Once you've gone through that pre-ferment, then add the salt and remaining flour one cup at a time until each cup is completely incorporated into the mixture. You'll know you've added enough flour once the dough balls up and starts to separate from the sides of the container (this is true for both the plastic and stainless steel bowls). Then knead for 10 mins and you should be good to take it out, form the loaves, and leave them to rise a second time in their molds. Looking for the dough to pull away gives you the perfect hydration for your dough almost every time. This is the same for all wheat flours (both white, whole wheat, and mixed). This doesn't apply to other grains like rye which generally require different water to flour ratios.

I bought Bosch's cheaper cousin; Nutrimill. Got it during the holiday's with some freebies like ice cream & waffle cone maker. I also purchased the paddles. It works exactly the same as Bosch & I absolutely love my Nutrimill. What I learned: After you've added your flour, you may need to add more (little by liitle) until it cleans the sides of the bowl. Then start the kneading clock. Kneading can take more like 10 to 12 mins. Do the window pane test. If it breaks, knead some more. Also oil your hands to remove & shape your dough. This avoids all the sticking. Have fun practicing & learning you mixers. It's therapeutic & the house smells awesome. ♡♡ Be well.

Where did you order for Nutrimill from during the holidays?? I will be looking this year. I love the Bosch but I don't make gigantic batches of anything, so I don't feel I should spend the extra money on it. I am curious if all the Bosch accessories work with the Nutrimill. I have heard many of them do.
@millieh.-nyc6537
@millieh.-nyc6537 2 года назад
@@brynnking5184 Hi Brynn, if you go to Bosch site or even Nutrimill site you can find it. Note, it can still make big batches but it's less expensive. It can use most of Bosch accessories but not all, just check out site to familiarize yourself. I'm actually thinking of getting a Bear Dough Maker that's smaller but I'm still researching. Anyway, I hope I was able to help. Be well.

Couldn't agree more. My 30 year old KitchenAid works fine but my 6 year old Pro 600 is loud and weak and I've had to replace the gears 3 times. My Bosch is soo much better than the KitchenAid and I have a few converts from my bread baking friends. KitchenAid is living off their past reputation (they were great 30-40-50 years ago. Now their only good for making a single box cake mix. Go Bosch!

Yeah, the older videos on the Bosch mention that the "M" is for momentary too. I love this mixer and was about to get one when I happened upon a Ankarsrum at an incredible price. That is the only thing the Ank does not have, a pulse/moment setting. I can do it with a fast turn on/off the power the power. I now adore my Ank and all the wonderful things it makes, especially the soft breads, but talk about expensive attachments, theirs are great but so very expensive.

An impressive machine, no doubt- if one does enough baking to justify it. For me, my veteran Kitchen Aid 45 year old bowl-lift model handles anything I throw at it (and always has). But actually using it less, now that I’ve moved into the no-knead world.

I just bought one too! Just today. No more kitchenaid ever again especially since China owns them now. Anyway I bought the meat grinder as well, mainly to grind bacon fat with the venison we harvest each hunting season. I have a huge kitchen and plan to leave Bosch on the counter. I plan to make lots of bread because It grosses me out that store bought bread never molds. So I'm pretty excited about this mixer. Thanks for doing this review. I subbed your channel. 😀

I bought one a few years ago (I do the baking) for my wife and I. We call it "Gods mixer". It'll do FIVE tollhouse batches AT ONCE. You don't even have to stagger wet with dry ingredients if you "only" do four and your butter is soft. It's unreal. Last year I did 8 batches in less than an hour, used a little metal form, packed raw dough into the form to make scored rectangles, and gave out "break and bake" frozen cookie dough for Xmas to all the neighbors. It's. Nuts. Try to meringue with it. Seriously. Try a small batch of meringue. Just a few eggs. If you babysit it - yanno, tweak the speed as needed - it will FILL THAT WHOLE BOWL. Absolutely. Nuts. 🤯 The thing all the reviewers omit is because it has two OPPOSING paddles/whisks/etc. Their movement CANCELS OUT each other's vibration and centripetal force. S'why it's so much lighter. It won't TRY to "walk" on you. Kitchen aids weigh so much because they had no choice but to make the base outta cast iron, to help ameliorate the top-heavy gizmos desire to waltz itself off your countertop. Their solution worked... but at a 30 pound cost.

I have used my Grandmother's Kitchen aid for a LONG TIME. I am 85 and she died at 106 - mom is still alive at 104. In that time, I had to replace the rubber feet on the bottom of the mixer once and it is almost 100 yeas old. . I am sure that they could have come up with something lighter but If it ain't broke. I ain't gonna fix it. And I had 8 children - and 18 foster kids and I have 79 Grandchildren and even more Great Grandchildren. So when I built my house - there was a dedicated Kitchen counter space for the Mixer. It is officially part of the Family. Maybe the Bosch has advantages - so when the Kitchen AId needs replacing - MAYBE one of my Grandchildren will consider replacing it with something else.

The Ankarsum can cost anywhere from 700 to 900 dollars my Bosch cost around 400 bucks. I don't know if it will last a life time but its a heavy duty mixer and is very light. but I don't think any machine can beat my Cuisinart. it can do almost anything that my Bosch or Kitchen Aid will do it without attachments. the kitchen aid is over 25 years now. I but I bought a larger one and it was lucky to last 2 years before it had a problem, I like the machine but they don't make them like they used too.
