Here we go into some of the pros and cons of the Bosch package units. I have yet to see another one in the wild myself so I figured this video may be helpful to some people who may be considering purchasing this product.

Before any of my regular viewers rip us apart for the pads underneath... This was a next day install mid summer. Compressor on the old R22 system died and there was no saving it. He told me he is replacing the entire roof and when he does so he will replace the ductwork and install a curb under the unit. Thanks for watching.

Gree (X-PAC) and MrCool (Universal DC Inverter Packaged Heat Pump) both have inverter packaged units now. The MrCool unit if installed by a professional like yourself comes with a 10 year parts and labor warranty. Bosch started a trend with these inverter packaged units. I wish the major manufacturers follow suit with better options for packaged units. Maybe even an inverter dual fuel packaged unit. Thanks for sharing this content.

Yeah I actually just saw that a supplier in our area started stocking the Gree package units. Haven't ever seen one of those either. Blows my mind that there are not more efficient options for these in general. Package units are lagging behind.

@@SurfBrosHVAC It's probably due to demand. Most residential systems are split systems, with predominately mobile homes using package units. It's a frustration of mine because I've got two Rheem package units that are nearing end of life and there's a real shortage of package units that have the latest tech.

I swapped my ducted ac to a midea (aciq) hyper heat ducted. It handles moisture inside pretty good. SUPER QUIET outside. All i hear is my close neighbors outdoor unit.

Actually worked on a 2 stage TRANE pack today that was pulling 6A in first stage and 8.4 in 2ND stage. Much less than 13.5.

Great video, can you tell me the difference between the dip switches that say 60 model vs 48 model. Do those change it from a 4 ton to a 5 ton and vise versa?

I know on the splits the output is changed on the dip switch. I assume it’s the same on the package unit but don’t remember 100%

Do you have any videos comparing the old unit vs bosch noise? RTU's are nice, but the noise inside the house sometimes is unbearable 😭

I do not. The noise difference though is VERY significant. They were not using the AC due to the noise levels since they had been in the home. The Bosch unit, still without anything fancy to reduce vibration travel, is silent on the roof

I believe that unit is made by ICP and has identical or near identical clones being sold under the: Carrier, ICP, ACiQ, and Bosch brand names. I just installed one of those and it is very well built.

Are their units inverters? Because I have seen Midea package units that look just like this but are not inverters. They are not high quality products in my opinion. I thought that this product was made by Midea but I could be wrong. Here's a link to the Midea one. I have seen a several BOSCH multi zone mini split unit on the product line in midea factory. However, rooftop unit belongs to the MBT department (mini and multi split, window unit and portable unit, are in the same department) and they are not in the same factory. @@SurfBrosHVAC
