Bosch Wiper SEV Adapter Installation
This is a tech tip from International Auto Parts regarding Bosh Wiper SEV adapter installation.
What you are going to have to do is remove the old adapter that comes in it. The blades come out of the package set up for the hook type arms, but the early Alfas don't use it. So we are going to snap that out of place by putting two thumbs on the backside and pushing, it should come off easily. Take the SEV adapter and notice that each side of the pin the adapter mounts too there is one hole bigger then the other; same with the adapter itself. You want to make sure you get it on correct otherwise the adapter will not pivot correctly.
If you have the 7mm arms you do not need to buy another adapter the one that comes with the kit will work fine. However, if you have an 8mm arm like what is on the early 80's Alfa Spiders you will need to buy the adapter (Our part # 40009). The SEV adapter comes ready to fit 7mm, but if you pull out the spacer inside it will fit the 8mm. The spacer just snaps out with your fingers. Now line the middle grove up on the adapter to the pin on the arm and snap into place. Make sure that it pivots fine. Your bayonet type arm would then just slide into the adapter till it snaps into place.
If you have the bayonet style arms that are in almost all the Fiat's or the Alfa Spiders from the 70's then you will do something different. Use the adapter that comes with the blade. The blade also comes with a package of different adapters. Flip over the package the blade came in and find the illustration "U+" to find the correct adapter and instructions. Turn the current adapter up and align the additional adapter with the slots and it should just slide right on till it snaps in place. Now the regular 7mm bayonet will just slide right into the adapters.
