Every speaker has its limitations and BOSE is no different. Just a suggestion; sound bites are kinda pointless because we can’t hear what you are hearing. If you want a Bose speaker that’s a true performer check out the SoundTouch 30/Sounddock-10. They are absolutely amazing speakers with a dedicated subwoofer. I got mine when it was called the Sounddock-10 but it has the old 20 pin dock so I had to spend an additional $99 to make it Bluetooth capable. The main problems with BOSE is the prices they charge, build quality and the total lack of dedicated bass and treble controls. Bose wants their customers to hear the music the way it’s intended to be so that’s why there are practically no tone controls on any of their products. To me that’s BS because if I’m spending almost $800 on a speaker I want to customize the sound the way I want it to sound and not the way some dude in a lab coat wants it to sound!!! I ended up purchasing an iPhone app with an EQ so I’m able to tweak the sound the way I want it to sound. I spent $789 on the SD-10 when it first came out and it blew me away. The SD-10 has an elegant design with a brushed aluminum grill but the ST-30 doesn’t look as nice. Either way they are both amazing products so check out the ST-30 because the Sounddock-10 is no longer available. It’s around $499 which I still think is about $100 more than what it should be sold for but it’s $300 less than what I paid for my SD-10. Both bass and treble have a terrific range and neither distorts at higher volumes unless you buy an EQ app and crank the bass wide open to the point of clipping THEN it’ll sound like shit. You always talk sense young man and even though I have one or two Bose products I've also got speakers from there competitors. Like Echo Studio bought in England for £139 from QVC and it's quite powerful and in my books great value for money. Amazon claim 300 watts power but highly unlikely. But it would be good to see you compare it to the Bose 500 Home Speaker to hear your thoughts. I totally agree with you Kosher there's no need to pay $400 or £305 in English currency. When in England you can buy Echo Studio Speaker for £139 like I did or £189. The competition is good enough nowadays to stop people throwing away money.
I have the same product as a gift from a friend and I have never used it. Please help me to operate it. I think it has a defect because the screen does not open
No doubt that Bose make great speakers but ......... I was very disappointed that I could not access my in home NAS (network attached storage) through the Speaker 500 & Soundbar 500. Come on Bose update the firmware on this range to allow for access to our internal LAN's via WiFi or wired connections to enable NAS access. Paid cloud services are great but what about all the personal music libraries that we all have.
Same here just waited till the price dropped to $300 and replaced my old H/K Onyx speaker with it.. And I must say I'm very surprised how many light years ahead of H/K that Bose is. The jury might still be out on movies though. Not even an issue though. The bass by far is the most impressive, my old H/K had decent bass, with this Bose speaker though they make you wonder how that great of bass is even possible
I don’t know if you’ve ever heard the Soundlink 3, it’s the grayish rectangular one that came out a few years ago. I’m curious how much better this sounds, if it does. Great review btw
Hello I have bose and I want to tell you that I do not know why, but the speaker is better heard by wi-fi and not by Bluetooth. And I do not know why you say that Bose can not be used by wifi ???? This spiker have wifi !!!!
KosherTech it’s great. It’s fantastic to be honest. Since my region doesn’t support Alexa or google assistant. I downloaded the US version of Bose Music App and made it to work. Enjoying it.
At 11.30 minutes you say ---Add 100 more dollars and get a buy a what? I was thinking of treating myself to one of these, now I am not so sure, what would you recommend.
@@KosherTech I checked out the Sonos 5 , it doesn't seem to have a built-in Google Assistant or Siri or Alexa, for that price it would expect it in the speaker. I am not too Tech savvy and running the speaker via some other device just seems complicated and bothersome.
@@KosherTech Thanks for the advice, but I think I will wait until the adapt Google assist or Alexa into the speaker . I really think for that money they should have done this by now. You would think that any boffins at Sonos would realize the benefits of doing this for getting a lot of extra sales .
What was the recommendation for $500? I replayed but can’t makeout what was said. I get the feeling at max this guys thinks the speaker doesn’t do what it could....I’m not sure just my spide scenses going off.
Why would you want -100 base? Only to make your teeth itch maybe. Get a Revolve + it's better and simple. Too much sound processing here. A Bose trait I don't always like.
I bought one of these speakers 2 weeks ago, all of a sudden, it stopped updating, would not connect to Bluetooth, neither come on when plugged in- cannot get it reset
@@KosherTech but i do agree with you.. not that worth the price considering there is a lot of cheaper speaker that sounds better.. i am also wondering why the 500 has a high price tag. wondering what they put inside. Would be nice if you could do a teardown or disassembly video of your 500. Havent seen anyone doing it yet..
Alexa intergration? No thank you. It's bad enough we have all this technology tracking us. That's the last thing I need is a device listening every time I decide to pass gas. Bose makes good equipment. Sound quality is great.

I saw this speaker at a store and it has a mic off switch which I think is great for the concern you had. You can basically use voice control when you feel like and keep it off when you feel like. Definitely a positive feature for me.
