BTW, if you use a T4s with the DJ preset you can use the DJ presets which REALLY make the L1 system come to life. I can't imagine using it without it. I ran the T4s with the ES1203 too.
Listen from 0:54. That is exactly what I was talking about. Spend over $3000 on a pa, then you gotta spend even MORE to make it sound better. That is absolutely ridiculous. As is ONLY 3 channels on a $3000+ pa... what a joke! EV, RCF have pa's half the price, with enough channels for a full complete band
@@opaz. I don't use the mixer section whatsoever. I am a DJ and only need one input. The T4s allow amazing control from my fingertips and allows precise control of all mic inputs, etc to have different processing than my DJ mixer. the T4s is a must-have, even for the ES1203.
Personally, I look for a pa that sounds good "strait out of the box", that is how i demo a pa that is for sale. No need for help from pricey add ons. If the installed tuning or on board dsp doesn't work, then I simply don't invest. Maybe the dB and Bose pa's aren't for you, if they require assistance to improve how they sound. Good luck
@@opaz. I totally agree, but I already have the T4s b/c I use it for all my inputs and it allows me to create custom profiles (separate DSP) for each mic input, DJ mixer, etc all from my DJ booth. It's an extra bonus that the DJ presets liven up the sound from my DJ controller. Without any DSP, to my ears, the BOSE sounds a lot cleaner. The DB somewhat has a muffled and muted sound in comparison. I will still use the DB, but right now it's in storage and I am looking forward to using the L1s at all my gigs.
@@opaz. that moment when you didn't realize the person you're arguing with is a bose fanatic/advertising agent. JAS productions is a Bose advertiser - mjority of whom are very uninformed. Glad how you educated him here
Easy thing to fix. One is having a sub1 which i have and the low-mids are there but if you need volumen need the sub2 to pair the high volumes of the column so in which case you can use a sub1 in conjunction with a sub2 like that you will have all the bottom end plus mids anf highs balanced. When you are suing sub 2 with and sub 1 you output the sub2 to sub 1 using the HPF mode so the sub1 will care of more higher frequiencies and yes i know what you may think. 2 subs??? Well in reality specially djs and bands use 4 speakers with 2 of those being 2 subs so having 32 mid highs at so crazy levels up in spl it is not out of equation using the 2 subs models to have the full range in the system. After all the l1 pro 32 is meant to use with 2 subs to use its full capacities. Hence the cardoid mode or combinations of sub models. Without that of course you will loose frequencies. If using only sub1 will loose low end and if only using sub2 it will crash the mids so having both its the best of both worlds.
hmm, this is interesting. I was considering this setup as well, but how many dB would you get? I'm trying to find a system for outdoors. was maybe thinking 2 sub2 in cardioid mode as well but no one has done that experiment online that I can find.
@@josealfredfernandes F1 will play a bit louder bit it gets muddy sounding when it's pushed. Pro 32 pushes farther out in room getting better results even if only slightly lower volume. Better clarity too imo.
OPAZ love your videos! Keep them coming. Lots of great info that helped me purchase the Pro32/Sub2. Amazing that people still say Pro16 array wobble is not an issue! On the Bose Facebook forum a number of Pro32/Sub2 owners have complained of a mismatch between the endless headroom of the 32 array and the Sub2. They say the Sub2 clips/goes into the red way too early, where the array never clips. These are DJs playing in a large space or live performers playing outdoors. I'm playing my Sub2 at 11 o'clock indoors and this has never happened to me. My thinking is the Sub2 has protection circuitry and as long as it doesn't audibly distort, ignore the red meter. Hopefully Bose can address this in a future Firmware update. I do think the Sub2 is unique in the fact that it goes down to 37HZ in such a light weight form factor. Playing backing tracks this sub has almost the quality of a high end home Hi-fi sub. Of course they usually go down below 20HZ in this price range. The Sub2 at $1,200 is over priced! I have a 12 inch RCF 702 sub at $850 which equals its performance. Where I do feel Bose has missed the boat is the fact they left off Bluetooth capability on the sub. I love my EV30 where I can mute/adjust volume from the audience listening position. JBL is also including Bluetooth in their latest subs. The EV App has a full band EQ where Mids can be tailored. I've always felt the Bose sound needs a little boost in the mids. In comparison the Bose App is only Old School 2 band treble/bass. Once again Bose playing catch up.
@@opaz. there will be no firmware b/c there is nothing wrong. It's designed for modern music. If you don't like a lot of low end, simply turn it down or get a cheap eq and tame it. It's funny, b/c I boosted the low end on the 1203 b/c it falls on its face below 70.
Hi Opaz Just a bit curious, can you connect 2 Bose s1 pro to the es1203 sub? How then can you connect them? Your thought? ES1203 comes 3 inputs. Love to hear view. Thanks
Also, you mentioned the sub2 is plastic, and it is not. That is just the outer casing. II would argue the build quality on the Sub 2 is far superior to the ES1203 which chips so so easily. You have to baby them. My older 8-year-old l1 subs looked newer than the E1203 (which I now have owned for 3 years).
I did not say "the sub2 is plastic". I said "the dB sub, is not plastic" I've had my dB for 3 years and 1 month. Used it for 61 events. Did you see how clean my sub is? When not in use, the padded cover is always on. I wish the sub2 came with a padded cover, will need to baby that even more
@@opaz. I have used mine at over 100 events, and of course, I use the padded cover during transport. My point is that the finish is not good quality. If it rubs against or hits anything, the paint chips and exposes the wood. This happens when setting up or even loading into the truck as the overs don't fully protect. You don't need to worry about the BOSE. The build quality is a lot better, even with the thin covers. It simply will not chip.
Hi Opaz!! Love you videos! Keep up the good work!! May I ask if you have ever heard or compared the Bose F1 812 to any of your speakers? What is your opinion?
I’m considering the sub 1 vs rcf 702 do the one that weights less is the winner to be carried installed 3 times a week. If you recommend another sub that can weight less and kick it will be good. I use home theater audiofilo subs because they hit 22hz easy
@@a.dejager7062 You're in a band?? Cool because I'M A ONEMANBAND acoustic guitarist and wanna know if the 1203 will do me justice. Any comments or suggestions cuz I'm very confused which system to go for cause the 1201 is on back order all over the place. If I buy it I may NOT have the opportunity to return it so easily cause there's no place to demo one!!!
@@ironman1290 I am the soundguy for a worship band, guitar, bass, drums, 2 Keys, 2 vocals. Even outdoors my 2 x 1203 give me an amazing amount of volume. Compliments all the time. The subs are easier to handle by 2 persons, I must say, but then again, I am not that young anymore...
Say hey, dude! Love your videos on the DB Tech. I'm an acoustic guitarist looking for the very best pa at this price point. Would you recommend the Es1203 as is or could it be better to split things up and go with their sub and a Bose L1 setup? Peace, Edward
Edward, I think the L1 sounds better with the es1203 sub. I know this is not what you want to hear but you ultimately will be the best judge as to how you need things to sound The ES1203 sounds great. Unfortunately I can't really give the best PA advice to an acoustic guitarist. Both pa's are very capable. A few musicians visit these threads to get advice from others, hopefully somebody else here can give you the best advice you need
I somewhat agree but I have both and I much prefer the Sub 2 as the ES1203 has no chance when playing hip hop or any modern music! I have done a back and forth and the ES1203 simply cannot hang when playing music that gets deep. For live music and Rock, perhaps the ES1203 is better, but the Sub 2 hits way harder below 70 hertz. The ES1203 falls on its face too soon for my liking. In fact, I would say when playing hip hop loudly, the ES1203 sounds like it can bottom out and distort. They are great midbass speakers, but they are not subs to me. I have put the ES1203 in storage and will use it as a backup. Much, much happier with the L1 system. Also, when paired with a T4s, it sounds even better.
@@sonny9546 I have 2 of ES1203s and they don't do low end at atll. Amazing mid-punch, but no low end and tonality for modern music. Great for rock though. The SUb2 plays so much lower.
Nice video. I’m gonna try other subs OPAZ. I will test a svs, sunfire, martin logan, paradigm , and others before but sub 1 (because Weight) I play 3 times a week.
@@opaz. well thank you I will comment later. Still if I use other subs I wanna have the sub1 too but later 💴 Friday I’m gonna have the Bose L1 pro32 without sub.
how many dB is this setup? I'm looking to take a system out to burning man and want the absolute loudest portable outdoor system. close to 130dB if it's possible. First time I've seen this recommendation, so thatnk you, the ES1203 at 65lbs is still manageable. Do you think either will survive in dust/sand that's very fine and blows everywhere? a year later, do you have any new systems that might fit this bill?
I think you'll need to find a more robust and hardy pa to survive with fine dust and sand blowing everywhere. I don't know what to recommend in this environment unfortunately
hi. if i wanted to buy two db systems would the db1002s be better? even cheaper? the 1203 would seem more powerful but the only difference I see is the integrated mixer. the rest of the components and measures are the same. did you compare the model 1002 against the 1203?
I didn't compare the two Tony. Yes other than the ES1203 being a: Stereo PA (one PA setup) Digital Steering Fine DSP adjustments Bluetooth They are the same. I also desired the extra power of the 1203
Unlikely. But in the event that any are legit, which the StageSound appears to be, they are in violation of Bose's dealer agreement. They'll get smacked by the Bose police soon.
