It doesn't really come across here but I went to the Bose showroom and the Portable Home Speaker is fantastic! It's a whole different class of sound and features... Bose has finally nailed it, fully worth the extra bucks.
Got a White and Black version of this speaker and when you pair them up they do a great job, we used both of them together in my buddies back yard just to lounge and the sound filled the back yard perfectly.
I have the Portable Home Speaker and my farher-in-law has the Resolve+. Personally I like everything about the Bose Portable Home Speaker EXCEPT the bass. I found it lacking. The Resolve+ DEFINITELY has deeper, richer bass for sure. I'm a base head and seriously thinking about returning the Portable Home Speaker and getting the Resolve+. I'm going to contact Bose 1st to see if they're planning a firmware update that would improve the sound.
Although it is a great sounding speaker...I do not like that we cannot “party mode” with the BOSE Revolve. Why be forced to buy 2 Revolves for party mode and not be able to have the same capability with 2 of these $350’s?! Very disappointed in the company for that alone.
If you press the on/off button and hold it for a few seconds, it puts the speaker to sleep and doesn't run the battery down while parked for a week. Also be sure you keep the software updated by using the app because Bose recently made some changes to how much power is used in standby mode. You can thank me later.
My Revolve has a lot of dents, dropped it so many times at least 30 but it still works fine. I prefer the sound signature of bose over the "bright" sound of jbl. Although it sounds bright at 90-100 percent. And my favorite part about this bose it you can turn it on without pushing the power button, getting up if your too lazy in bed just swipe down in the bose app 🤣
I accidentally took a shit on my revolve twice 😂it was super stinky and had my shit all over it .. but it still worked fine and I feel the bass got better somehow .. you should try taking a shit on it
So i recently got mine, thanks to this video. I found out that voice assist does not work in some countries (yet). I'm from Philippines. But I found a solution to make google assist work. Cheers!
Hi! I’m from Malaysia and I’m planning to get the speakers. Could you walk me through on how to connect it with google assist? I would really appreciate it!
@@irdinahashim on your phone set up, download a VPN app that relocates your location to a different country (like US) then open the set up on bose, you will be able to access google assist and amazon alexa.
@Irdina Hashim only during the set up. Once you successfully completed your set up, you don't need to connect to VPN. Just play it normally like you would.
I love my companion 2 series III pc speaker and SL micro. When I get a place without communal WiFi and supply my own ISP, I would get a couple bose home speakers 1 HSP for the bedroom/patio, and an HS500 for the kitchen.
Can you pair two speakers with out connecting to wi-fi? I’ve tried and can’t get it to stereo pair when I’m not connected to wi-fi. Let me know if there’s something I’m missing.
Another great thorough review. Love the background props. My question is, do you think it is time to change your name from gymcaddy since that is really not the focus anymore. I suspect you will get many more followers over the years and it will likely be easier to do a name change sooner than later. Let me know what you think.
I have thought about it. But I don't really care about the name I just wanna put out good videos. I havent changed it just cause of the website domain. This was never meant to be a fitness channel.
Is the Bose PHS bass quality as good or better with the JBL Xtreme 2? Because if the Bose PHS has better or same bass quality as the Xtreme 2 then ill probably pick one.
Am I allowed to bring this on a plane? I heard you're not allowed to check speakers with lithium batteries in and there might be a battery size limit for carry on speakers
I recommend to at least play a piece of peaceful music as massage therapists will use this, cello is amazing on Bose, the crap music you played sounded horrible , not likely to be blasted on a Bose lol
Hi , i am finding it hard to connect other phones to my bose speaker without disconnecting the other device that is already connected.. please what can i do?
hey wow your videos are just really good :) im thinking to buy one with best sound quality and portable and i dont know if Denon Envaya DSB-250 vs Bose Portable Home Speaker i hope you can help me with this and thank u :)
Just bought the Revolve Plus. What a disappointing sorry to say weak frequency response when listening to bass orientated music. I expected more, and I am a Bose person since the early 90s. I will be taking it back and looking at the Home 300 version... If you are a conformist, this will do. I am not.
Long story short, the Bose Portable Home Speaker is well worth the extra $50 to splurge. The speaker made my Revolve Plus sound dull in comparison. Ended up selling the Revolve Plus.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP: I have a jbl Xtreme and I've had it for a few years now and it's just getting outdated and sounding a little rough so I just think it's time for a new portable Bluetooth speaker. I need something that is at least equal to the Xtreme in sound quality, bass, size and LOUDNESS, any suggestions? (Is this a good replacement as well)
Definitely the Bose home 500 it pumps out way more bass and wall to wall stereo sound. But really if you’ll be using it at home more than outside then get the home 500 plus home 500 has aux
I knoo me too. How ironic huh. Btw im gonna exchange and get portable home speaker. Revolve 2+ cant even beat my old bose iphone dock from the late 2000s. Revolve is so disappointing…. Ive been spoiled by the old bose dock for 15 yrs now. Will portable home speaker measure up?.
I coach beach volleyball out on the beach and need a speaker that can sit in the middle of 4 courts and be heard on all of them. The Brookstone Big Blue Party Indoor Outdoor Speaker was perfect, but I had to replace it because it’s a fire hazard. I bought the JBL Boombox and it does everything we need EXCEPT it only faces one way, so you can’t hear it from the two courts behind it. What is the best replacement? I need portable, bluetooth, loud, 360 degree or at least front & back speakers so sound goes 2 opposite directions, and waterproof if possible. Budget up to $500. I'm looking at the Bose Revolve+ but am not sure it's as loud as the Big Blue Party. Does anyone have any recommendations?
The UE Megablast is a good option, the price for that is $380 AUD, but it doesn't have amazing bass, it's super rugged though, IP67 rated, and it's fairly small ( about the size of this Bose speaker ), apart from that I'm not too sure, the megablast is a good option though 😁
How does the sound on this compare to the Home Speaker 500? I currently have the Soundlink Revolve Plus and looking to upgrade. Don't know if I should spend a little more money and get the Home Speaker 500 or the Portable Home Speaker...
bruhh! the speaker has so much latency delay when I play a movie. The setup took a million years to complete, no instructions whatsoever. Really bad experience encountered given we are paying such a high premium for the product.
I tried both speakers myself in the Bose store. The Portable Home Speaker sounds marginally better than the Revolve+, in some songs the difference is so miniscule that it cannot be heard at all. Max. volume is about the same. If you don't need WIFI or voice assistant the Revolve+ may be the better deal depending what country you're living in (price difference is 150€ in Germany!). That being said I'll probably buy the PHS myself later that year.
Many reviews contradict each other, i tried it as well only briefly in a poorly set up environment (loud background and didn’t play too loud) but i also noticed the bass was barely better and not as impressive as i thought it would be
GYMCADDY no, I really want it to be a big improvement bc I do think the revolve plus lacks bass. Question, if you turn the bass up higher does it distort and at higher volumes does it distort. Also how does it compare to the honepod
I preferred the Sonos Move in both store models myself. Just felt fuller and more rich, despite the no 360 degree sound. But it did sound pretty good! I guess the Bose is better for portability, but the Sonos was 50 dollars more and said fuck it.. I really enjoy the sound more. In a room or a corner, or on the floor where it has stuff to bounce sound off of, the sound and bass is phenomenal!
@@Tripleh3lix20 I agree the Sonos Move is far more powerful, couldn't believe my ears when I heard it. However it's also three times the weight and thus more awkward to carry around. Since the Bose is powerful enough for my use case it's a better trade-off IMO.
This speaker has a lot of problems in the bluetooth connections!!! I looked at bose forums and its a common issue they didnt manage to solve yet.. so keep that in mind before you go buy the portable home speaker. I have a new one that always disconnect while playing!!! Shame!
can you please do a detailed comparison between this and the revolve+ and other such speakers like the sony xb43....... I'm really confused as to get the revolve+ and save some bucks or just go get the Portable Home Speaker and be a happy kid with a grin on his face everytime i listen to a tune..... would really appreciate if you could do so.....thank you so much
Home speaker 500 by far, but due to the non battery nature of the home speaker 500 and indoor use, I highly recommend to purchase the incoming sonos five in the middle of this year.
@@rudolof8540 , Thanks for the recommendation. I just checked the new play 5 and found it to be gigantic lol. I want something that is small in size yet elegant with great sound quality. I think the Bose home speaker 500 fits in perfectly.
@@rushabhk8 Be carfeull with the bose home speaker 500. I Checked it on the local stores of my country and I note and overpowered bass, not that kind of bass that makes the mid and high frquency muddy but at least one that spokes you on certain rythms suddenly. Try to check if you can invest on a pair of sonos SL(not 3.5 mm aux capabilities). Could it be possible that bose is planning on launch an update to fix that problem within the passive radiators of home 500 or maybe I must forget to try if the speaker has tweak buttons on the app or a equalizer.
