My best buddy works for bose and got me and my wife one for helping him out. As I didn't have to pay for it I don't have to defend my purchase and can give my honest opinion. It's bloody fantastic, I'm blown away at how bad my TV speakers are, if you haven't got a sound bar buy this one, the speaker will change how you watch TV shows and movie's. I would say its worth £250/$250
Great video. I just bought one of these on sale at Best Buy and am really impressed with the overall sound from basically a 2 channel speaker. I just don't have the room for anything bigger and this sounds great for the size.
This is a great sounding speaker if you have a hard time hearing the voices on a TV show or a movie with sound effects going on in the background. It does sound much better than most TV speaker systems but I have a 14 year old Onkyo 5.1 surround system that blows this Bose away and the Onkyo was $50.00 less. If you are older like me and are having a hard time hearing the voices on the TV than this Bose is for you. I also paired my Note 10 with this and played music with the Bass pumped up which gave a pretty decent sound but nothing to write home to Mom about. My son has a Samsung 3.1 sound bar that cost about the same at Wally world that I would recommend over this Bose which gives awesome movie sound effects.
I saw your excellent review for this Bose TV Speaker so I went out and bought it this week along with the Bose Bass Module 500, that extra subwoofer makes a big difference when it comes to watching movies and playing games. Thanks for all that you do here.
Yeah, I don’t like body rockin bass unless I’m listening to music. My biggest thing is when the total volume profile isn’t balanced… meaning when it startles you with extreme loudness. This little soundbar balance’s the sound profile perfect. Only reason I would consider the bass module is I know Bose usually does very clean bass, while not drowning out mids/lows. Even though this is their “entry” level speaker I would buy this again… not worth the extra $220 for the Bose smart soundbar 300 when they’re basically the same thing… except without WiFi voice activation and Bose back speaker capabilities. If I upgraded I wouldn’t even consider 300/700… I’d go right to the 900 soundbar with that sweet Bose bouncing Atmos technology. I mean people by Bose because they have the best speaker technology, not necessarily the best speakers. It’s based of how the human ear perceive’s sounds and I’m not an audiophile and if it sounds good then idc. Love my Airpod Pro’s they help a little (though not truly accurate depth) with these sound testing video’s. Honestly for most people the Bose TV Speaker and the 500 bass module is more than enough. I don’t need the module for my bedroom and instead of buying it as an add on I would just buy the 900 soundbar as stand-alone
great video, got this Bose TV Speaker - Small Soundbar with Bluetooth Connectivity every time I turn it on the vol on unit is very low it doesn't stay at last volume sound that I used, my brother has one and he doesn't have this issue is there a settings to keep last played Volume thanks
Bought it after this video and another review in my language. Both very helpful and got me the a good decision. Thanks! Have children and except at the two evenings per month, when they sleep at grandparents house, I don't miss an extra sub. Pretty impressive base for a small soundbar without sub. Do you know if I must buy one of that two bose subs, or can I take any active sub, when my children are a few years older and don't go to sleep early anymore? :-)
Great review. How do you think this version of Bose would be agains the Vizio v51-h6? They’re in the same price range but the Vizio comes with a subwoofer and rear speakers.
Good review 👍, I always gets both the pros and cons work your videos. Nice change , trying to make balanced decisions from reviews that just give you the hate is a chore. Keep up your informative balanced reviews 👍👍
I just bought it. Sound is excellent. I am actually upgrading my crapy PC speakers for this soundbar. I would like the subwoofer i listened on the store and sounds so good in open space. now in my room would sound even better!
@Tech Steve Hey Steve thanks for the great video. I currently have a Logitech 5.1 home theater system that is a few years old. Do you think this could be replaced by the Bose soundbar? Of course there is no surround sound. Greetings from Germany. Arkadius
Thanks for the vid. I just got this one and it’s sketchy. It played very well initially hooked up with HDMI. Now it won’t play. I’ve switched connected to the optic cable & removed the hdmi & same thing. I may have a dud. Can you help?
I just got myself an LG Ultragear 32GR93U monitor but I don’t have a hdmi arc output nor an optical port. Will this work if I connect it to my 3.5mm audio jack? I’m really trying to find a solution cause I don’t have built-in speakers.
you should have mentioned how it sounded to you in person .. is it worth worth buying without the subwoofer or can the lack of surround sound (dolby atmos) can be easily noticed?
Can you confirm or deny that the smart features of the app allow you to get more power from your bass module than the TV speaker and the bass module alone? I want a TV speaker and bass module 700 just like you have here for gaming but I don’t want to “leave anything on the table” as far as the power of the bass module with only the bass control on the remote of the TV speaker. If you can squeeze more power from the bass module 700 using a smart soundbar 300 with app functionality then I would rather go that route.
Hello. Thanks for showing the unit. I wonder if it would make a good standalone bluetooth speaker for listening to Internet radio, or maybe playing some mp3 tracks, over a smartphone. Or would a Sony-350 or Samsung-650 be noticeably better? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@adriamismael4472 I listened to the Bose and didn't like the sound. It sounds flat / tinny; and it is too expensive for the sound it produces. I bought the Samsung S61B and I am very happy.
@@TechSteve thanks for your response. Now I’m deciding between whether I should go for the Bose TV Speaker + Bass Module 500 OR JBL 5.1 with the 550w Sub. Thoughts please?
TY for your video... in your video are you referring to a Solo Soundbar Series 2? If so the end of your video suggests that a bass speaker could be added is that possible to add a bass speaker to the Solo Soundbar Series 2 and what kind of connection would I use to make sore that both speakers are connected together. Thank you for your consideration.
I have the Solo 5 but preordered this new speaker bcs it had the HDMI I could plug into my bedroom TV’s eRC HDMI. When I got it, it sounded great, a big improvement on the Solo 5 which is also a great speaker. But whenever I turned the new Bose TV speaker on, the speaker had trouble turning on so I returned it.
Thanks great video was looks for a great quality sound bar that wasn’t to pricy this is perfect brilliant video straight to the point easy to follow and very informative. Earned a subscriber 👍
I’ve watched your reviews on this Bose including the solo 5 over and over again and I’ve been torn between the two but I’ve now decided to go for the Bose tv speaker, I just hope I’ve made the right decision!
My speaker arrived today and by the time I got it set up Apollo 13 has just started and the sound that came through was absolutely outstanding. People are right it is just like been at the cinema, granted my living room isn’t massive but compared to others I’ve had this is at another level. Again buddy thanks for your reviews it’s cost me £200 but definitely worth it.
Hi Steve What’s the best and affordable Bose sound bar for a master bedroom? Trying to decide between Bose 300 or a cheaper model Bose sound series 2? Thanks 🙏🏽
HI Tech steve, thanks for this video, got a question for you, if this soundbar is connected to the tv, will the tv speakers still play the sounds in sync with the sound bar? Meaning if I have another speaker connected with the aux of the tv, will I be able to play the sound from both the sound bar and the aux at the same time?
Hey Tech Steve, I just got this speaker as a Christmas gift and I was wondering how I could hook it up to my TV. I have a PS4 Pro and want to have both TV and PS4 Pro sound coming out of this speaker, thanks Tech Steve! Happy holidays!
This Bose sounds like it’s going to be a necessity for my new $300 Vizio TV. Anyway, I won a cheap Vizio 50” V-series 4K TV from work that I have in my bedroom. The picture is OK for $300/TV I guess… however the sound is atrocious! The TV speakers sound tinny and hollow with no base at all, making dialogue very hard to understand especially at low volume. But the worst part… is the volume levels fluctuate so much from just one Netflix movie to another that have to scramble for the remote at night because it goes from low to loud for no reason other than just changing movies on Netflix. Hopefully, this helps… Bose is probably the best quality brand you can get at this price with that type of speaker quality
i would have liked it if you had used a stereo mic so i could get a sense of the stereo separation this unit can or can't provide. otherwise the tone is pretty solid for such a tiny box.
I dont care about connectivity. Its all About quality. Like you hear a difference between hdmi arc or fibre optic cable.. hell no. Just doesnt make sense you say its worth every penny. This bose 5 solo is $139 now
I would go with the solo 5 and save the money. After using the both, I prefer the have the HDMI Arc work with the TV remote and that worth it for me. The sound is very close, so you will love it. If you ever buy a HDMI Soundbar one day you will understand.
@@TechSteve I have the bose 700 + bass module in living room. I just blought a 55” for the mancave and wanted a cheap soundbar instead of using the tv speakers. Getting 5 solo tomorrow. Thanks B
Great review Steve. Question on the 3.5 aux jack port - can you use this as a stereo/headphone/mic port or is this purely an internal Bose service port? Planning to get one and use it as a desktop computer speaker. Although there is a Bluetooth option, I still prefer a wired connection. My desktop has HDMI, Stereo jack and Type C I/Os. Not sure if the new Bose speakers only has the Optical fiber connetion as a wired option. Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
I just watched you review on the Bose TV Speaker- Small Soundbar with Bluetooth and HDMI-ARC Connection. I’m thinking about buying this speaker and was wondering if the sound is better with HDMI-eARC or Bluetooth
Great video man that sounded great. I've had my bose home theater speakers and sub since 2010 probably time for an upgrade lol been wanting one of these for a while maybe someday.
Is it really bassy with the bass button on or is there not really a difference I like alot of bass for my music, also what is the amp of the sound bar I'm getting this in 3 days 🙂👍😜
Mine won’t turn on, the white lights flash but it won’t stay on or even connect to my tv, I’ve tried unplugging and waiting, does anyone know a fix to this
Hi tech Steve, I am a UK viewer and subscriber to your channel. Will this work with a Samsung One box connect, that is, can I connect an HDMI Arc cable from the one connect box, to the back of the Bose TV speaker? Many thanks Terry Davis
I just ordered this today on Amazon for 300$ cad hoping to use it with my LG C1 48 inch for Netflix and other entertainment, hope I don’t regret my decision
I give up trying to pair TV speaker with Xfinity remote. I hate that I always have to use the small remote to turn on audio separately from tv. No xfinity codes work
