This Bosh Rapid 2200 was given to me, only runs for about a second and then stops.
It ended up as being a faulty control board, which I removed and bypassed so the device has only one speed and no emergency stop.
A on off push button contactor is the way I use the device.
The leaf and branch shredding is not too bad.

I had the same problem with mine. After a little bit of internet investigation, I discovered it was the small magnet on the end of the motor shaft. When this fails to spin, due to a blockage, the motor has a cutout sensor. Got my self a replacement magnet and all is well again.

I picked one of these up from the local tip recently. Person who was dropping it off said it vibrates and doesn't work very well. I got it home, flipped the blade over the use the (unused) other side and it was perfect!

@Martin-bm2yz Thanks for the hint. I had the same problem and I fixed it by pushing the magnetic wheel a little bit further inside. (Remove the red protection cap of the electronics board, the magnet should be some 2..3 mm more inside than the end of the moter shaft.)

Looks like none of those electronics were required for the shredder to operate to begin with !!

so it was the soft start. Why do they always blow? Must be heavily underspecced..

Could also be microcontroller not seeing motor rotating or something, usually soft start mosfets die to short giving motor full power._

@@dimitar4y Or solder pad crack, pcb track crack, microcrack in the chip die, hall sensor death, magnet on the motor shaft degrading. You name it._

@@DJResR420 but 9/10 it's underspecced mosfets that die just to the current/temperature. Like most LED's fail because they use an electrolytic cap rated for 60'C or so "max" and 30-40'C continuous. Also this thing has no magnet on the motor shaft. And hall sensor die from? Bad power supply. From? Again, underspecced components. Microcracks and tin whiskers is a pain in general, big F to when that happens.

Most likely the constant electronic was cooked, or some other components. It's a common failure point of these chippers. I have the exact same one myself, nice hearing it "unleashed".

@@jamesg1367 It's best for sheet materials, but if they're a bit more "3d" - you can get away with flipping the workpiece twice to cut from both sides, only effective to materials that are no thicker than twice the peeking saw size. IF it's beyond that, consider borrowing a resawing lumbermill, or a large format bandsaw. Anyway, thanks for your humor :p
