When you reach the very end of a game and have to defeat the final boss to order to earn the right to finish the adventure, it can be a very scary and tense time. But not all final bosses are much of a threat. In fact, some of them are utterly pathetic, and there's no way they could possibly challenge you if you've already overcome every other obstacle in the game.

You know what’s interesting? Dark Nebula is SO easy that if you were to load your Kirby: Squeak Squad ROM into a homebrewed DS, and then enter the Cheats menu, there’s a specific code that gives Dark Nebula a larger amount of HP than normally used in the game, effectively making it harder. Even the cheat code makers knew how bad he was…

To add to the patheticness of Dark Nebula... I very distinctly remember watching a Meteorz livestream where he fought Dark Nebula, and due to its attack pattern, Kirby stayed still long enough to start his idle animation and FALL ASLEEP in the middle of the fight! If that doesn't testify to how much of a non-threat Dark Nebula is, I don't know what will.

The funniest thing about Dark Nebula is just how easily you can make this fight actually competent as a final battle, even without any new attacks. Just make it so that he moves faster, his attacks are faster, and make it so he doesn't need to be in a specific form in order to use specific elemental attacks. Just make him use slightly weaker versions of the attacks when he's not in that specific form, and have them buffed to be the version of the attack we see in the base game when he uses the corresponding element in its corresponding form. For example, with the lightning attack, make it so that it only shoots the 4 lighting shots to the corners outside of the lightning form, then in the lightning form, make it shoot the side covering lightning that he does normally, etc.

If Squeak Squad was directed by current Hal Laboratory Director, This boss would have been some horrid fusion between the entire Squad where the Triple Star Rod would have pulled each member out, bound Dark Nebula between the three stars, and obliterated it with a Daroach Kirby team beam.

Ah, Dark Nebula, definitely one of the least impressive entities Kirby's taken on, especially compared to the boss you fight right before them. Heck, they're so unimpressive that they didn't even get their theme remixed for Daroach's Guest Star route in Star Allies! All they got was a few cameos in artwork and being a jack-in-the-box attack.

The only Kirby final boss fight to potentially be in the same league as Dark Nebula would be Dark Crafter, except it doesn't stick out as much because most of the Rainbow Curse bosses aren't that tough either. Still, it's a massive drop in difficulty when compared to Drawcia from Canvas Curse.

The only reason Dark Nebula even gets this bad a rep is because it comes after Dark Daroach, who is way harder. The thing is, Dark Daroach is hard in all the wrong ways. Might just be because I'm a No Ability fanatic, but I certainly don't enjoy RNG pattern bosses that barely give you time to breathe between attacks in my platformers. And let's not speak about his Triple Star attack which is just completely unpredictable. He's hard, but the BS kind of hard, yeah, I'd rather take a breather after that, final boss or not.

yeah dark daroach is a harder daroach which unless you have tornado or something that gives i-frames will give you HELL to dodge his basic attacks, dar nebula meanwhile is always vulnerable and none of his attacks are hard to dodge

Forgotten Land’s final boss only having 2 back-to-back phases was done after the feedback of Star Dream’s and Void Termina’s fights going on for too long. This series is in love with fanservice and bringing back old bad guys, but you’ll never see Dark Nebula making anyone’s top 10 list of Kirby villains.

What makes Dark Nebula even more underwhelming is that he’s related to Dark Matter, who has had some of the coolest, hardest, or most intimidating fights in the series. Dark Nebula doesn’t fill any of those categories

Honestly, the part I respect hte most about Dark Nebula is the build-up: From the chest Daroach steals to the very fight itself, you always have Dark Nebula sitting in the back of your mind. And you do get a section before fighting this creature once you defeated Dark Daroach where you see this black star floating around, making you wonder what it wants to do. And then comes the fight, where this dark star becomes Dark Nebula themselves. I think it could have become better if the fight had more difficulty, though.

I've thought about this for a long time, but I've reasoned that the explanation for how pathetic of a final boss he is is because he had to be beaten out of Daroach in the previous battle, and thus has been rendered weak. So essentially, Dark Daroach is the more difficult first form and you're basically finishing off Dark Nebula on his last legs, so to speak.

Want to dunk on Dark Nebula and just about any boss in Squeak Squad for that matter even harder? Go to a level with an invincible candy bubble (such as 2-Ex, 5-4, 6-1, or 8-1), store it, and then use it while fighting the boss. While you're invincible, the bosses' health bars get utterly shredded apart.

That guy's ruler of the Underworld? At least three different iterations of Hades are watching this stooge and facepalming. (Well, okay, one of them is too busy cracking one-liners at his expense.) Oh, yeah, that inventory? It can hold the UFO ability in this game. You can avoid almost all of Dark Nebula's attacks AND charge up lasers at the same time if you come prepared!

The final boss of the original Ghosts n Goblins arcade game is my go-to example of a pathetic final boss. A single Red Devil is harder than a boss with a checkpoint right before it.

A Kirby boss feels like cheating, given the Kirby games are notoriously easy and supposedly from interviews intentionally so. This particular boss also feels like its meant more to show off the triple star and make you feel really powerful, like the fight itself is the post game reward for beating the real final boss, Dark Daroach, now you get to feel like a Kirby God and beat down on a living star with ease. Still, he IS pathetic and technically the final boss, so it does count regardless. Anyway, always love the videos, thanks for making them!

I don’t understand why this final phase is so so slowly paced, especially considering Dark Daroach, the boss right before this one. He moves around incredibly fast, all his attacks fill the screen, and there’s not a safe spot in the whole arena. Why they decided to downshift the difficulty right before the end - especially since you get a full recovery between the two fights - I’ll never know. Oh well, at least we’ll always have Star Dream to kick our ass properly.

Squeak Squad was quite on the easy side and while charming the following Kirby games were a huge step up. I remember the hardest boss in this game is Mecha Krako, because it can destroy the floor and if he hits you while doing it then you can't fly to recover so it's an instakill. So much more unfair than anything else in the game and I raged a lot when that happened....

I think the final boss was meant to be the boss before Dark Nebula. Dark Nebula itself is just a story boss. That's why they give you the best tool for the job, as well as generally making sure the fight is easy.

Dark Nebula felt borderline insulting after we had Dark Mind in the Amazing Mirror previously. He wasn't a terribly hard boss either, but was superior in terms of presentation...and evidently fairly memorable to the devs as well given that practically all of the Soul bosses have been ripping off his attacks in the following Kirby games..

What I like most about these kinds of bosses is they really make you think about just how weak you can potentially make your character, because tying your hands behind your back is pretty much the only way to make them challenging. So it does at least encourage creativity. Like the Resident Evil 2 final boss; sure, you could just blow it up with the rocket launcher, but can you beat it with the *knife?*

This game is very important to me because I 100%'d it as a child, and while I was dissapointed at Dark Nebula, I remember struggling with the lighting move. And, well, as I always say, it might be a very lame boss... ...but at least the music is good!

I didn't even know there was in area you spawned in if you died to dark nebula. I've never even died to this boss because usually I just kill him in like 2 seconds. You learn something new everyday I guess

My long-standing opinion for the Kirby series is that most of (if not all) the games are good: Squeak Squad, however, is a strange exception. It's the only Kirby game I've played that's truly mediocre in my eyes. The level design, the new copy abilities, the fusion mechanic not doing much at all besides change a couple abilities, the Squeaks being shoehorned into just about every level, easy bosses (even on Kirby standards), and the story that's been meme'd to death in the community.

I usually spam all the star for damage Nebula quickly and never knew that you can control star if you hold down the button until post game. That's how boring this fight is, a far cry than your usual "nightmare" bosses in previous Kirby games. Hell, even the later games has more interesting final boss.

Funny, we were just talking about Kirby final bosses. Most of them are excellent but this one looks like the runt of the nightmarish litter. Mega Man Battle Network's Dark Nebula is much more worthy of the name. I remember finding the final battle of Kirby's Block Ball anticlimactic too, but that's more because getting to him was so demanding requiring near-perfect scores in the other 10 levels. Plus it's King Dedede, the funny guy they use for the final boss when eldritch horror wouldn't be suitable.

I'm not really sure, if I have right to say this, but, Git, recently I came to notice that, more often than not, your videos feel a bit... off. I'm not saying they are bad or not interesting, it's just that they feel slightly abrupted and rushed. I'm not talking about this series specifically, either. I don't want to say you are losing your edge, but I guess I said that just now. Maybe it's just me, though. I'll think it more clearly once this "mini-marathon" is over.

Honestly I've been feeling my videos haven't been quite the same since around November, and it's been causing me a lot of stress. No matter what I do, the magic of my older videos just isn't there at the moment. I'm hoping it'll come back to me at some point, but I fear it's gone for good.

@@whoisthisgit I myself only noticed about late December or so (for being humongous pansy that I am, I even got enough courage to try and cheer you up somewhat). Anyway, unless I'm way off (which could be the case, since I'm no psycologist) I can only see two causes. Either you worked yourself too hard (that is to say, running out of immediate topics, you keep on looking further and further and spend more time just seaching for something to make video about, which naturally overwork your brain, as this kind of stuff is pretty demanding), or you are just hugely dissatisfied with how other youtubers seems to get more fame for less effort. If it's later, I say, just let them rot in their own sauce. With modern youtube overflowing with dumb kids quite literally, it's almost impossible to compete with them, directly, at least, without becoming like them. If it's former... I'd say just take a bit of rest, or switch gears temporarily (that is to say talk about other stuff that's on your mind) but you already was doing that, so... As I said, I want to think a little on that one.

It's probably mostly the latter causing a bit of the former, but especially with how my videos used to perform compared to now. In the past, every video would get 10,000 views in a day and gain 50 or more new subs easily. It made everything seem healthy, full of life and set off constant dopamine in my brain, but now, even the most popular of my series rarely reach 10,000 views within a week, while I'll only gain around 7 new subs per video if I'm lucky. That gives the impression to me that my channel is ill, which has probably had a knock on effect on myself. As much as I want to say I shouldn't care and should do whatever I want, I can't lie and say it's not demoralizing to feel everyone is slowly losing interest in what I do or don't like what I do anymore, no matter what I try. But I've even seen channels with millions of subs get way less views compared to before and only lose subs rather than gain them over a long course of time, so I don't really know what's going on anymore.

But seriously, as sad as it would be to say, it's probably because live has gotten a lot harsher now, so most of old group just doesn't have time, and modern kids a way too spoiled to care. Not to mention, that it was only for a short time that gamer culture became a big thing, before it was brutally reshoveled into mobile market, and PC and consoles became relatively niche again. There maybe something else, but I can't really formulate it right now, as it's not immediately obvious observation, and I could be wrong. Anyway, I do wish you luck as usual, but do consider taking a break and just thinking "what I actually want to talk about?", although another one that I started to ask myself as I grew older "what is that I know, that I can share with others?" This kind of question is hard for this sort of field, but maybe key is somewhere in here. Sorry for my slightly confusing speech, English is not my native language, and I also have some immediate matters to attend to, so my mind is a bit elsewhere.
