This is the equivalent of a Disney fighting game very close to launch with a massive fan base and a lot of hyped players with precious little roster slots. They have to be extremely careful when choosing the next character from their many IP’s across Marvel, Disney, Pixar, Fox, and Star Wars. There’s so many unique options with cool move sets and fans who are begging for their inclusion. Who’s the final character gonna be???? A random Stormtrooper. Hooray 😐

I think the only datamined/leaked character that starts with either A or B is Beetlejuice and the 2nd movie is coming out this year so it makes sense for him since we know the other one is the PPFG

I can just imagine Tony eating a banana watching this whole discourse go down and chuckle, troll or not. This happening and watching the reactions of people finding the 3 frames of footage and seeing PapaGenos' post has been entertaining to me at least. I'm not very upset because we're still getting the Joker and supposedly Johnny Bravo, but however you feel about it is valid, positive or negative. Not looking forward to seeing the overtly immature reactions of "wHy DiD yOu AdD PoTaSsIuM KnIgHt" and "lol get wrecked they added banana guard before any of your favorite characters." Just deja vu from when they added Piranha Plant to Smash Bros., except they had the luxury of having 70 characters at launch instead of 20 with characters being added over time for free. As you've pointed out, the game needs to rekindle that market of players that left after a month and Banana Guard is definitely not what I or anyone else consider a BIG character that will convince people to play the game. With the Dexter and PPG stages, we've had stages release before characters before (although we knew about Rick and Morty before we got Cromulons IIRC), but probably not the best decision to show those off without having either of their respective characters join on release. Still glad we got more stages though, there were not that many before and it seems they'll get more priority going forward. I would just say hold because we could be shown more characters than we'll see on release through a cinematic or something and BG is one of 5 or 6 instead of 1 of 3, which would soften the blow somewhat. Like they'll announce post-launch characters similar to how they handled Iron Giant pre-beta, as well as LeBron, Rick, and Morty. Hell even if that's not the case, in a cynical twisted way, the outrage getting loud would be enough to get eyes on the game and as they say, any publicity is good publicity. Plus PapaGenos has talked about what we could have gotten in the past as a character and IYKYK, but I would much rather take BG over a certain character we heard about before the game shut down. Sorry for typing an essay, it's just I have a lot of thoughts on the damn banana lmao.

In my opinion I dont think that they will add in characters that are highly popular at most, like Ben 10, Scooby-Doo, Godzilla etc. Because it would probably ruin the fun at the first day. Having the most wanted characters at once or every update would look like the game will be played out in two weeks. Probably a bit stretched of a thought here

I'd like to apologize for this (probably cringe?) wall-of-text rant here... but I need to say this because yes Listen, I get fighting games needs the designated "weird character"... but like... Usually, they add the more important characters first, ya know? And sure, whatever, they could add one, that's cool... but like... Banana Guard? Out of all the possible options you choose THEM? What would they even DO? I've watched the entirety of Adventure Time 2 whole times in my life, and not even I could come up with a moveset for them. Not to mention, that I don't think the Multiversus roster is at a place where they could just add a weird pick for shits and giggles, we're still missing big name characters! And not just big name characters, OBVIOUS big name characters who should've been in the game since Day 1. Just add them first, and then you can add Banana Guard! Can you imagine if Piranha Plant got added before Luigi? It's just that, Multiversus always seems to get L's no matter what, recently it seemed like they were getting up on their feet but I guess that was just too good to be true, and the sad part is that I'm not surprised because the marketing guys really don't know what to do, and that greatly annoys me! I want this game to succeed cause I genuinely love it, it might sound extremely silly but it really means a lot to me. Just seeing this game fumble in certain areas and watching everyone making fun of it bums me out. Sad part is? I can't even defend the game because the clowning is honestly very justified with the way they're handling this!!! Yeah, I guess it's funny that Banana Guard is added? Trust me, it can definitely work. But that's not the problem. Everyone is gonna look at this and start clowing on Multiversus even further! Am I saying that they SHOULDN'T? As I said before, no, It's totally justified. If I wasn't so passionate bout the game, I'd 100% clown on it too, no doubt! Did I set my expectations a bit too high? Maybe. After 1 year of patiently waiting, the game I love returns by showing off Townsville and Dexter's Lab as stages, possibly hinting at PPG and Dexter joining as playable characters, and Joker is there too! I mean, why else would they show off these specific stages if they won't add the characters who originated from said stages, but also tease said characters via the Joker Trailer and a freaking boss... and not end up adding them when the game launches? That just sounds dumb... and weeeellll... if this whole Banana Guard thing turns out to be true then it seems like they will take the dumb route! Marketing this game is literally the easiest thing in the world!!! As a person who only really wants to play women this roster is such a let down. 5/25 revealed characters so far are women, that's such a small fraction of the roster that I even want to kinda of give a shot to and I don't even love all the women of the 5. Like I know smash has a screwed gender ratio but it was pulling roster of Nintendo mascots there wasn't a lot of women that just is not true for WBs line up of what DC owns.
