Thanks for this. It was thorough and I mainly use a Strat so it helped. I lost mine at a gig around the time this video was made (8 years ago) and someone just found it. I get to use it again and was anxious to get reacquainted,so this was a good substitute. Thanks again
In relation to the CE-1, sometimes the older pedals sound a bit warmer because of capacitor age drying-out a bit. Remembering the CE-1, it wasn't quite as warm as they sound now. This is a fine CE-1 replacement.
Actually that switch back there sets the input LEVEL (for normal use with guitar/bass OR when connected to an effects loop or a large-volume output device).
True. Here is what the manual says: Nomineller Eingangspegel -20 dBu (GUITAR/BASS) +4 dBu (AMPLIFIER SEND/RETURN) Note: also good if you have a synth with a hot output level, like the Prophet 5.
This pedal is one of the best stereo choruses money can buy and they aren't being made anymore. If you have one hold onto it because they are going up in value.
I would really like to see a video comparison of this pedal go up against a Hardwire CR-7 Stereo Chorus to see if it holds up against the CE-20 or if the CR-7 can maybe emulate the Dimensional D mode or not. Great video!!
i wish still boss made something like this; i have the md500 and it is amazing. That being said, I would like a multichorus modeler for a different rig. This pedla could use a single wide revamp.
Honestly, heard no difference whatsoever A/Bing this and the CE2-W, literally not a single one except for one had vibrato and this one had a shitload more besides vibrato.
I payed €135,- ($177,65) for it. I use a Zakk Wylde like in the memory set but the cool thing is that you can create an almost flanger like sound with it by putting the rate really low. I just love the damn thing haha
Very good demo video. I basically use and MXR STEREO CHORUS with a normal sounding chorus. Most of the settings and variations on both pedals will never be used because they are a little too strange sounding. A chorus effect that makes your 6 string sound like a 12 string is very desirable.
I bought this on a whim. It was just another tool I had at my disposal. With the base feature I can't go back. It's the base of my tone. It's always on now. That and ME-50 ds-1 setting and dm2 delay and rotary.
Old comment, but I A/B'd this with a CE-2, and could hear literally no difference. I want to say digital, or at least part digital, but literally no difference in sound.
When you demo the Dimensional D and CE-1 modes, you need not fuss with the depth knob. That's because the depth knob has no function with either the Dimensional D mode and the CE-1 mode. If you read the manual, you would have known that.
No sane person would pay $300+ for a crusty, beat up, drying up capacitors, and probably had the bias knob messed with (which if you don’t know what you’re doing, you WILL introduce distortion) vintage CE-2 when the CE-20 does the CE-2 and more & you get to store 4 presets. If you want the ‘warmth’ of a vintage chorus, this pedal does it by keeping the ‘Brilliance’ completely off.
