Nobody talks about the importance of a good alternator and dual batteries. My dad had a 79 GMC 4x4 with a Western plow. Under the hood were 2 alternators and 2 batteries.
Batteries and alternators have come a long way since then. I agree more is better but that truck probably had less capacity than a modern truck. If you’re that worried about it Ford offers dual batteries on gas trucks if you get the 400 amp alternator package
They do the solenoid under the hood so that you don’t have a HOT and live wire running all the way back. That should lift way faster. You can control the drop speed with the small valve it should have. I have two drag pro plows, a 12’ and 16’. They are great but have had a few problems. Never have broken shear pins like the guy on dirt monkeys videos…. These look cool but I don’t like the mount and pushing snow in reverse digs into soft surfaces like none other. There is a guy who has a sno power 16” blade here and he says the wings collapse when picking up a wind row.
@@AutoPilotMT The day I called he said they were going to email me the list of things I needed to wire in the boss controller to my snopower, well I'm still waiting☹ just mentioned to the guy I wanted to be the first on youtube with a 180z stainless. I'm not holding my breath.
So disappointed it uses that fifth wheel mount. Boss is the only drag plow dealer near me. I wanted one on my truck with dump insert and salter but guess that’s not happening. I’m gonna have to drive 250 miles to get a short iron
What is with Boss and their big stupid mounts. Fisher and ebling is the way to go.... plowing for 40 years, tried boss and had so many issues I went back to Fisher.
