I never thought I would say this in my life time, specially as a big fan of TUBE amps, but the Boss Katana Head Gen 3 it is truly something else, I'm not endorsed by them in any shape or form, the tones and specially THE FEEL are incredible, specially when it was only a fraction of the price of any of my tube amps in the past. I'll probably upload a demo soon. What you're hearing here is the direct signal from the line out and the mic'd signal from an sm57 in the front. Audio recorded with an IPhone 15 pro max

Very cool Christian! I have a few high gain tube heads, main one being an EVH 50w Stealth and I've dialed in the Katana Gen 3 100w using the 'Bloom' feature and I'm leaning towards the Katana now. Sounds amazing. Nice job bro!

Katana is the real shit, man! My buddy used the 100-watt combo version at a Metallica-tribute gig, sounded fucking massive. The built-in effects are nice too.

@@christiansectas Have you played/gigged with any other solid-state alternatives to tube amps? I play a little guitar myself, and to avoid the hassle of logging around a heavy amp, I’m thinking of just going direct into a PA from my modeler. What do you think?

@@yunamadsimackomen881 whatever works for you, I myself honestly love the big sound coming out of a cab that’s why I love actual amps with power amps BUT the katana head has a direct out that goes to the mixer directly you don’t even need a cab for it .. but if you really really don’t want to bring anything to show, any modeler will do!! I was endorsed by 5150 and loved it but that one had tubes in it then I went to the orange super crush no tubes and it was great but the katana has more flavors to it !

Man, that’s awesome, the speaker that comes with it, it does sound really good, you can just mic it or get the line out and that’s all you need !

@@christiansectas Right on! I have a 50 MkI and a 50 MkII that I run ABY via Radial Big Shot for wet/dry glory, but I thought it was time for a 100w head and the Gen 3 had enough new features (and the new re-voicings) to entice me in! Shame the 50s can't be used as a cab. Ah well. Keep rockin'!

Crazy stuff, you put it on 100 watt mode and it was as loud as a mesa rectifier 100 watt tube amp .. no Bull ! It’s an analog solid state class A/B power amp

@@jamdalf4343 It’s the clean channel gain to 10, with the BOSS DS pedal included in the amp … im only using a tuner, wah, phaser and a Rat Pedal occasionally for solos !

I think the convenience factor is great, you can take this at the airport or everywhere with no issues at all !

I mean I love my tube amps and my history with them, but man This thing with an analog power amp class A/B doesn't make me miss my tube amps at all, i think we're about to find that missing link between tube and no tube amps very soon!! haha

@christiansectas been gigging with solid state amps since about 2000 (Marshall MG100HDFXs) and got a Mk2 Katana Artist two years ago. Would never use tubes again. BTW - loving the tone, very Dime/Zakk, if that's what you're going for 🤘🤘

I'm modding my MKII 50 combo to be able to be run through cabs but I've been stuck between running it through V30s, Greenbacks, or an appereantly hidden gem G12T-75 ive seen a lot of people talk about. Maybe a mix of speakers. I've been looking for the best versatile speaker that can sound good clean and take in distortion.
