Boss of the Boardwalk documentary about the life of Nucky Johnson in Atlantic City. Johnson's life was the basis for the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. A full-length documentary by the Press of Atlantic City
@@leviclark3822 whilst what uve said is true... It doesn't take away from my point at all. I simply shared an observation from one of the best scenes, in a great series. Pointing out that such a great line line like 'breadstick in a bow tie', wouldn't of even been used if the character was more similar in build to the real life person he's based on. So basically uve just made a wise ass comment but exposed you're indeed a dumb twat.
@@leviclark3822, Yeah but Nucky Thompson was a real person & really did run Atlantic City!! Now I’m sure that they changed quite a few thing’s on the show BoardWalk Empire, but Nucky was based off of a real person who did a lot of the thing’s they have on the show!! Also they had so many more real characters on the show like Al Capone & Lucky Luciano, great show & a look back at American History💯
Of course BoardWalk Empire partly fiction partly non fiction. Capone was originally from NY and shipped to Chicago by his boss so he wouldn’t get killed. But I did like Season 1 & 2. Especially the WWI vet Nukie raised and the sniper he met at the VS
All the old bosses were. We were much better off when we allowed the graft to benefit bosses and parties rather than corporations- back then $1mil might go to the community and $100,000 to the boss and his cronies. Now the politicians still get paid but $1mil goes to their corporate backers with $10,000 going to them personally and maybe the other $90,000 coming back to us little people.
They finally gave Steve Buscemi the boss role. After years of being typecasted as a lackey, Steve got to be someone who commanded respect. Whats more is its a real story(with some liberties taken) and he had young actors DYING to be killed by Steve on set.
just think of all the people watching this and never seen Boardwalk Empire..I'm almost jealous of them in some weird way... I wish I could wipe my mind of it, and watch every season over again. I re-watched it again, and actually it was good because I caught a few things i missed the first time around. S3 w/ Gyp was great.
Nucky appeared be a very infectious type of guy. He was the people's choice. I mean look at the guy, He had a very beautiful wife who was almost 20yrs younger. In the pictures together they took, she appeared very happy and devoted to him.
Boardwalk is true to an extent. For instance, Luciano and Lansky did work for Rothstein at one time. Nucky was a corrupt politician that got kick backs from casinos, brothels, bars, etc. Capone and Torrio did feud with O'Banion. The events with the fictional characters around these guys are made up to make the journey to the real-life events more interesting.
Nucky Johnson obviously made a difference, in many peoples lives . . . and, if anything set the thumbprint for what it has become, today. It all started, with Nucky . . . . 🇺🇸
I enjoyed the documentary, but the audio was poor. There were times when the voice of the person speaking would fade out, and the music would get so loud that I couldn't hear what was said.
Boardwalk empire is one of the best shows ever i fan watch it over and over now they need to make a mafia series that has Luciano and all the old time mob guys
Weird to realize my ancestors probably knew him well. I found Atlantic City city listings (like an early version of yellow pages) and my family owned dozens of restaurants, hotels, auction houses and clothing stores.
I just consider myself lucky to have had a condo in the Ritz. No matter what kind of day you had there was that something special walking into the building.
He was a smart man in a corrupt world so i cant blame him for anything he survived to live to an old age and that with dealing with mobsters who wanted a piece of Atlantic City and corrupt politicians who are loyal to no one but themself or only to who where the money came from. In this lockdown i watched the whole sopranos series then the boardwalk empire series witch i had never saw before and boardwalk empire is way better then sopranos it really takes you to Atlantic city back in those days the women still had bush witch i like the details the striped suits hats the buildings the caracters lucky luciano meyer bugsy rothstein really takes you back to where organized crime started in America it was a masterpiece! Makes me want to watch it all over it again btw i dind know Capone was such a coke head lol
I learned about Nukky from of course the show, I 've gotten hooked on the show like everybody else but, I would've loved to meet'em though (A Great Man in every aspect of his life to me, he is an inspiration! R.I.P.)
What a charactor. Hes no bad guy, a ducker and diver. I bet he was more honest in a deal, done on a handshake than a lot of so called respectable tyoes. That fella alloweed Atlantic City to live its live until its current lease of. Life as gambling mecca and entertainment centre that fed clothed and housed all its sons and daughters. From its time as a quick city getaway by the sea with a great entertainment centre courtesy of the "commador" the back room boys, and Nucky Johnson. Who also fed and clothed the generations of people aurvived to this day in their hundreds of thousands! That really means something and is a real achievement tgat should have a memorial in the town. Regardless of their personality, the good transend those limitations.
@nathantim...Don't be jealous of us who've never seen it, be happy your not such a pop-culture "dinosaur/last typewriter" such as myself...but I DO think I'm gonna be able to view it from a historic-esque perspective?!?!
loved the show one of the best ive ever seen actors were great and the women were crazy sexy as far as the corrupt politics goes its the same now as it was back then there all gangsters
everything has a dark and a bright side, it's your choice to see only one side or the two of 'em together, everyone who criticizes freely should consider everything before write stupid comments
Two reactions to the saltwater taps- a) Sounds very very pleasant as a consumer but b) sounds terrible from a maintenance perspective and, didn’t they have lead pipes? That couldn’t have been great long term.
The Capone picture was superimposed. Nucky was 6'4", Capone 5'11", theres not a 5" difference in height. The real picture had Capones brother in law on his left. Hearst was a degenerate pervert, but a powerful one..anyway, if Johnson didnt want the picture out, it wouldnt have gotten out.
Johnson is a very unknown mob boss, because he was a politic, that is the reason because don't have millions of views. And no one realize that Enoch "Nucky" Thompson is Enoch "Nucky" Johnson.
As a former and brief NJ resident, this is very interesting. It explains what all the noise about Atlantis City was about. That said, I can't tell you how glad I am to be back on the West Coast.
Wow his last Nrs was a lovely woman for him to marry just b4 he got locked up. She was a pretty stunning young lady and a handsome woman later. She lived him aswell in photos they are kissing and by their body language they truly love each other. They trust enough to close eyes and kiss and hug in public, with no self doubt just genuinley caring for each other. Hed be dead if he was a bad dude.
Most politicians today couldn't begin to tie the shoelaces of people like "Nucky" Johnson. Yes, he gamed the system. The world is corrupt - the only thing you leave is the things you do for others, especially those in need, when you are alive. And just a fashion note, Flossie Osbeck Johnson portrays more class and style in her most casual of photos than any of these so called "divas" of today. These so called "women in entertainment" today would do well to take a page from her "outfit of the day"!
I walked 7 miles from Somers point to Pleasantville. what a beautiful town Northfield is my only hope is to visit his grave site on my free time. N Atlantic City is still the Sin City Of The East!
too much interview...waste of time showing those faces.cant they make it all straight showing the real thing n those guy can just hv the voice on back ground.
They vote him in, he makes allocates from the budget their roads, they ask for a job for their lad leaving school or a place in college for the brainy daughter who wants to be a member of the bar and local defense lawyer at that. They would help out if humanaly possible and worthy of help. They would in turn get rich making deals and overlooking all business. Payed to licence new ventures, if they needed to or not. Also can keep the police and prosecution away for a fee. He knew then all and was put in after the "Commador",( he looks a robust and rough fella the old Commador), to be liason and other seer for all possable businesd oppurtunities in the realm. Not going to say no to business and fellas wanting to hand money other to you at no real chance of discovery and no prosecution probs either.
If you could manage to make the raspy old music even louder, this would achieve "Maximum Unwatchability", which I assume was the goal. Why else would the music be so much louder than the speakers?
Seriously, lets ask any human....and I mean an adult person, man or woman...in this day who has been through, gone or going through this exact same form of natural progression in politics, where the public or anywhere near this form of responsibility has become aware of your personal life,,,,before we can even come close to judging them as a pubic
