Wayne thanks for doing this excellent tutorial. I’m a little out of my depth with this pedal and becoming a little disillusioned with it. There so few tutorials around and Boss are useless in this regard unless pedal has “GT” in its name. Thank you for making the effort to help and for single handedly keeping me engaged with this incredible device. It’s appreciated.
I have the sy1000, I love it a lot, but have a lot of unpratical stuff, you have to create and adjust many things to make it workable, but does not make me dislike it, love for the experiment things
Very good explanation! Thank! I got one question though: after you engage hold function with ctl1 footswitch, you can play some melody on top of your sequence. But what if you want to change the root note of your sequence? As far as I understand, you need to disengage the hold function by pressing ctl1 footswitch, then you play another note and then you engage the hold again. Is that correct? Or is there some more convenient way to do it?
@@WayneJoness Cheers, do any GK synths have arpeggiators? I know a few guitarists that have always wanted one, it just seems like an easy win with a GK system.
4:18 Have you reported the ONE SHOT issue to Boss? I can repro on patch 2-4 (Intense Filter). The distinctive filter sequence in INST1 is a ONE SHOT and it doesn't play at all.
Wow! Thanks for the info, I just thought I did not full grasp how it should work. The manual could go into a little more detail, though there is a lot to cover.
The rep admitted that this was not easy to use, and that it was implemented differently on other devices. I wouldn't be surprised if this behavior changed in a future update.
You are correct, you do not need a GK pickup for patches that use the 'dynamic synth' (sequencer). This is similar to the SY-300. For other instruments in the SY-1000, such as the modeled Roland GR-300, you will need a GK Pickup. The last bank of patches in the SY-1000 do not require a GK pickup.
